Regatta House

The house, is welcoming, beautifully furnished and very clean, the beds were also very comfortable.

Good central location, parking is a nightmare, we were fortunate, as my husband has a BB. I would recommend this house for a family, but not for older people, (which our party was). I would further recommend, a grab rail at the top of the front steps and a further hand rail on the left. A television in the dining room, and 8 egg cups (only 3 provided). Also there were no waste bins in the bedrooms, only in the bathrooms. My bathroom also had no glass for our toothbrush. These omissions did not spoil our stay. My main criticism is no refund 6 weeks before stay.

We have stayed in this property for the past 3 years as a family 5 adults 3 children.

The property has everything you need, very comfortable, cant fault it, perfect location, for the beach shops and restaurants, would highly recommend it.

Very comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated property, with 4 bathrooms - which was ideal for our group.

It was well equipped and in a great location, close to the amenities of Whitby, but in a quiet residential area. Parking and unloading near the property was a bit hit and miss, as the streets are very small; but we were aware of this issue beforehand from previous feedback. There was plenty of street parking available within a 5-10 min walk using the residents parking permits which were provided by the property.

Please can someone sort this out? Vehicle access is very tight if you have a large car. The accommodation is gorgeous, luxuriously furnished and very well equipped.

Lovely property, very well equipped, and a nice welcome pack.

However, it was listed as 10A Well Close Square, and it wasn’t until we had unloaded all our gear that we realised it was number 10, not 10A. Unloading was a bit of a nightmare due to the very tight alleys, and it is not suitable for the faint‑hearted or those with large vehicles.

Booked this beautiful house at the last minute for a short break for 5 of us.

Well located, beautiful property with quality fixtures and fittings and tasteful decorations. A bathroom for each bedroom was something I was looking for and Regatta house has this. The addition of two reception rooms and two outside sitting areas providing lots of space.

Property in a great position, very clean.

Neighbour next door was a nuisance with her parking across property.. heating in bedroom with twin beds upstairs did not work… could not sleep in there.

House was lovely, great location in relation to town and beach.

Just a few things to mention though. Smoke detectors went off 4 times during our stay, 1 early morning, 1 late night, other 2 during the day. 2nd but last day there was a leak in the top double bedroom, dripped onto the bed soaking the bedding, fortunately there was only 6 of us staying so the occupants moved to the twin bedroom, however one of the twin beds had broken slats and were replaced by bits of timber that kept on moving so a bit of moving around had to be done to secure them. Both smoke detector and leak issues were reported and were dealt with straight away. Knives could do with being sharpened or replaced in the kitchen and a few more chopping boards (unless we weren’t looking in the right place). Could do with a few more cleaning cloths and scourers in the kitchen too. Apart from the above mentioned the house was lovely, tastefully decorated and an ideal location.

The property lived up to our expectations in every way.

It was clean and very comfortable. A big thank you to Sykes for the efficiency of your call out guys; we had a co2 warning and someone attended very quickly and quickly resolved what was a battery problem. Having stayed in this area before we knew in advance how convenient this property was for access to the beach and Whitby itself. Very little has been mentioned in previous reviews about parking. Access is very tight and although a parking spot was available, be prepared for some parking dexterity and a degree of reversing. A few things about the property, which in no way affected our stay, but need to be flagged up, (i) hand wash bottles there but empty, (ii) bin in bedroom toilet not emptied and (iii) thank you for the little gifts, but the cake was 1 month after its use by date.

We stayed at Regatta House in Whitby as a family aged 3 to 62, and it really was a home from home.

The beds were so comfy and each room was beautifully decorated with tasteful décor throughout. The house was very well equipped, with a Nespresso machine, great hairdryers, and Botham’s goodies on arrival. We spent most evenings in the lovely living room playing the games provided, so didn’t even need to put the TV on, though it was great to have a smart TV available. The location was ideal, just a nice short walk into town for exploring Whitby. A fantastic holiday home that we’d happily recommend – we’re already planning our return! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We were a group of 7 adults and Regatta House accommodated us with all are needs.

Extremely comfortable beds. Would love to know the make of the mattress, slept that well. Bathrooms worked well, having one each. We used the front outside space for the sunshine. Well equipped kitchen. Every where was lovely and clean. Parking was fun and games, but we always got parked not too far away. Would love to book again. Thankyou

Lovely house in a great spot.

Close to everything, but quiet. Plenty of room! Fantastic showers and lovely bathroom. Parking arrangements are very thoughtful. Parked car at West Cliff and only used it for day trips. Yes, it’s about a seven minute walk, but so what? On street parking vouchers and disc were very useful too, though more challenging to find a space. I’m taking point two off perfect because there is quite a lot of chipped crockery (easily replaced) and for leaving only two dishwasher tablets for a week (there were five of us, but house takes eight!), no washing tablets and hardly any washing up liquid and one J cloth! Lovely fluffy towels, comfy beds. A great house! Really enjoyed our holiday.

Love Regatta House, Comfortable with everything you need.

Location, location , location you are minutes away from the Whale bone, and that view of the Harbour. The other direction a shirt walk to the Swing bridge. The best Bakery is literally at the end of the street. Great house for a family reunion, friends get away, just a family. I imagine it is magical at Christmas time.

Excellent house , great location .

Lovely walk into whitby centre with great views of the abbey . Has everything you need , plenty of crockery , glasses , etc . Comfy beds , and decor is great with some quirky decorative additions . Welcome cake and tea bags a bonus , with gravy bones for the dogs . Might be useful to know when the bin men are due as we missed them and had some rubbish which we could have thrown away . Overall an excellent holiday , would love to visit again .

Regatta House is a beautiful and comfortable house to stay in.

It was very clean and fresh and had amazing decor. It is centrally located so we didn't have to use the car at all for the week. We managed to park outside the house which was handy. We have had a wonderful stay in Whitby, going fishing, crabbing, visiting the Abbey, taking the steam railway, long walks from the doorstep to Robin Hoods Bay and back using the Cleveland Way and the Cinder Path on return. The restaurants and shops are lovely, and the bakery at the bottom of the road is excellent. The only thing we missed was a radio in the kitchen. Thanks for a great holiday.

Fabulous property to enjoy with our family celebrating my husband's 60th.

The attention to detail that has obviously gone into making this house a holiday let is exceptional. Thank you so much for allowing us the pleasure of staying at Regatta House. We would love to return someday (maybe for my 60th).

Regatta House is a stunning property decorated and furnished to a really high standard.

There was plenty of room for everyone. Having 4 bathrooms was a real bonus in the mornings. Its location is great, so close to all Whitby has to offer. Communication with the owner about parking was excellent and very helpful. We managed to get 2 spaces outside the door and at the leisure centre only 5 min walk away. Would definitely recommend staying here.

As a family of a large age range from 1 to 70 the house was wonderful and we can't wait to return.

The parking was a complete nightmare and the correct parking permits were not there to display which caused a lot of stress in the night of arrival.

We had to unload our vehicle and park somewhere else away in the first night. Was not a nice start. Then a rep came a a day or so later and gave us the permits that should have been for us in the property.

Regatta House is a beautiful property with exceptional quality furnishings and well decorated.

  A lovely welcome gift was well received. It is in a brilliant location on the west cliff within close walking distance to everything in Whitby. The lounge has plenty of sofas and a large screen TV. The dining room has a large table which seats 8, a log burner and espresso coffee machine. The kitchen is a long galley style, which can be a little tight on space if there are a couple of people in, but offers everything you need for your stay and more. The crockery, pans, utensils etc are a very good quality and plenty. There's a small toilet at the end of the kitchen behind a sliding door. It is questionable about hygiene of it's location but is very handy. The small courtyard has seating and a large table if the weather is nice and is secure so ideal for our dog. The four bedrooms are very spacious, have very comfortable beds and each have a bathroom which is excellent.  Although two of the bedrooms do not have en-suite as such but the bathroom is located very close. The second floor bathrooms are very large. All furnishings are of very good quality.  A couple of small points are the first floor bathroom is lacking a mirror and the parking is not ideal if needing to park outside the property.  Parking is very tight to the front of the house but there's plenty around the area and permits are provided.  Overall this property is exceptional. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely return to Regatta House.

Beautiful house.

The sinks in some of the bathrooms were a bit inadequate and really only suitable for hand washing. Also it would be helpful to have a small mirror in the bathroom next to the first bedroom on the first floor.

Regatta House is simply an oasis of calm and comfort in the bustling town of Whitby.

It is close enough to everything, from lovely brunch and coffee stops, to the impressive Abbey and the beach making the car largely redundant. The level of comfort and standard of decor within the house is second to none. Everything has been thought of, from the well stocked and practical kitchen to the luxurious bedrooms and lovely bathrooms. I wish we could have stayed longer!

The only downside was we had to park one of our vehicles at the leisure centre.

What a fantastic holiday home!

Regatta House truly was a home from home and had everything we could have possibly needed. The cleanest, most well-equipped, luxurious property we’ve stayed in. Hidden in the back streets, it’s a real gem. Whilst parking can be a little bit of an issue initially, it didn’t make much of a difference once the car was unloaded. A 10 minute (downhill!) walk to the harbour and beach and a 5 minute walk from the pavilion and Whitby’s famous Wishbone. A week really wasn’t long enough and we would definitely return. A fantastic, spacious property that served our young family perfectly during our week away.

Nasty stain on carpet. Door leaks when it rains. Lies in the listing- car parking permits and en-suite’s missing. Fraudulent advertising.(listing has now be altered after our complaint) Sykes were no use when complaining. Paid for luxury- got less than advertised.

Regatta House was a beautiful property , well maintained , inviting and comfortable .

I found the whole experience of booking our holiday with Sykes Cottages and Regatta House very positive . The central location in Whitby also means you can enjoy the town without having to drive everywhere . We were a large family of seven but there is enough room for everyone at Regatta House. Would definitely visit again .

Very well appointed. Some lovely details and a great base for exploring Whitby and the surrounding areas.

Regatta House is a beautifully presented, comfortable home.

The area is very peaceful at night so that, combined with comfortable beds, meant we slept really well. We appreciated the milk and tea bag supply along with local delights on arrival. We found pretty much everything we needed during the week. The only thing we couldn't find (maybe tucked away somewhere?) were some board games. Food wise, all bar one of the places we went to locally were great with friendly service- particularly Cosa Nostra, Emma's Diner, The Magpie and Sherlocks. The not so good one? Don't be fooled by the plaque outside! We didn't stray far from Whitby but Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes and Saltburn-by-the-Sea are worth a visit although the first two are very hilly. The walk alongside the beach from West Cliff towards Sandsend is beautiful and extremely flat once you get down. Thank you Regatta House, thank you Whitby for a wonderful, memorable stay. Our 4th time in Whitby and favourite accommodation by far! We hope to be back and would highly recommend Regatta House.

WOW!

What a beautiful house! The decor is incredible and the beds and sofas are super comfy and cosy. Everything about this house is perfect, and there are no faults. The sofas are an amazing colour. This is by far the best cottage I've been to. The seaside is lots of fun and all the charity shops sell amazing things. Whitby is the most welcoming, lovely place ever! Thank you for a very enjoyable stay. P.S. Your attention to detail has gone expectations. Thank you. P.P.S We recommend El Taco and Cosa Nostra as they both have delicious food.

Stayed at Regatta House for a couple of nights over Pirate Weekend - my first time in Whitby and the house was in the perfect location to see all the sights and the beaches.

Kitchen is so well stocked to cook a nice dinner with friends and the beds are so comfy everyone had a great sleep!! Our dog also loved being here and so grateful the place is dog friendly!! Thanks for having us, we will definitely be back.

Beautiful House.

We had everything we need. Appreciate the well stocked kitchen. Beds comfy, showers great. Nice and quiet but close to everything. Recommend the Pie & Mash shop for a good home cooked meal. Trenchers fish & chips good & they can cook in veg oil as opposed to beef dripping! Torches in rooms a great idea. Thanks!

What a wonderful house, perfection in every way!

A very happy holiday with grown up children and their partners- would highly recommend The Elsinore- brilliantly run pub, with great music (Live) at the weekends- great fun, The Esk Vaults for food Drink and card games- great atmosphere. Arch & Abbey micropub- lovely venue for drinks. Lucky to have the fab bakery at the end of the street plus cranberry swamp for a delicious breakfast. Whitby you have been AMAZING!!
