Salt Bay

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at salt bay.

The property is well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Very easy access to walk into Whitby and a fantastic area to sit outside when the weather was nice. The only problem we encountered was no hand rail on the stairs. We would definitely book salt bay again.

The hot tub was a massive plus. Would definitely stay again.

The property was very comfortable, thoughtfully designed, with the lounge and kitchen being very spacious.

Having a lockable garage and car space for two cars on site, was a real bonus. All the kitchen equipment and utensils were excellent and plentiful. The hot tub was well kept, clean and warm. The property is within easy walking distance in to Whitby and all its amenities. I would be happy to share this first part of the review. However, we requested a high chair and travel cot as our granddaughter was visiting overnight. Unfortunately, the high chair had mould on the straps and seat and the red cot side on the travel cot would not lock, so we were unable to use either. I have photographs of both, should the owner wish to see them.

The welcome tray, robes and slippers were a lovely touch that we weren’t expecting. If we come back to Whitby, we’ll definitely book again!! Only minor feedback is that the bedrooms are incredibly light from very early in the morning - the blinds offer almost no protection from the sun, which meant I was often wide awake from the time the sun came up not long after 4am. I would have felt more rested had there been blackout roller blinds or curtains. I appreciate we also stayed in the middle of a heatwave, but a couple of fans would have also made the evenings a bit more comfortable.

Perfect home from home, everything you need.

Either stay in and cook in brilliantly equipped kitchen (even the veg peeler!) or go out exploring. Garage a very welcome feature. Hot tub just what’s needed after a day out exploring, especially if the weather is a bit challenging! A peaceful location too.

Salt Bay is a beautiful house in a quiet, private courtyard with everything you could need or want for a family holiday in Whitby.

It is in a great location being only a short walk from everything that Whitby has to offer. It is certainly worthy of the 5 star rating and having the hot tub was a real welcome bonus. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would not hesitate to book this house again.

Excellent accommodation 10 mins walk from the centre of Whitby.

Outstanding breakfast kitchen with folding doors and nice patio area outside. After exploring for the day the Hot Tub was a welcome spot of indulgence in the evening.

I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family, it was clean and provided everything you would need for your stay.

The location was excellent, just a five minute walk from town. Having parking on site was a definite plus, and a deal breaking when looking for somewhere to stay in Whitby. The hot tub was great and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Overall a lovely property and dog friendly too.

00 am was too early. Departing at 10.00 would have made our trip easier. Car parking was tight, as the other properties parked more or less in front of our parking space.

We had a two night stay in this beautiful modern cottage .

We went with our elderly parents and our dog . Location is brilliant as it’s a short flat walk along to the centre of Whitby . The kitchen /outside area were superb and the hot tub was the bonus . With cranking in garage underneath it couldn’t have been any better . Thank you for a great staycation .

Baby Seagulls were present so it was impossible to use the back door, people had been feeding them and leaving water so it smelt terrible, none of the rear windows or dood could be opened due to the terrible smell.

On arrival baby seagulls were near the garage so when unloading we were getting bombed by the older seagulls, I know this happens at the coast but this was terrible, the smell was horrendous and we even saw rats patrolling round the house possibly due to the seagulls, food & smell. Certainly take back some memories from this place. Looking for some compensation really. Thanks Jason Lock

House was spotless with everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Just a short, flat, walk into town to enjoy Whitby. Beds were comfortable and owners are brilliant. We’ll definitely be back.

Loved the décor. Super location. Only slightly let down by the oven - doesn't seem to reach the desired temperature, even at 185'C

Great location with parking facility for 3 cars.

Property was very clean and comfortable and well equipped. Lovely decor and the welcome tray was a really nice gesture and much appreciated. Patio was a nice sunny area with comfortable seating and the hot tub was brilliant. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again sometime.

Cleanliness and facilities are superb. Everything supplied.

Beautiful cottage and fantastic location.

Unfortunately the hot tub was of no use to us as it would not heat up enough to be able to sit in it. No offer of compensation which was very disappointing as you always pay a high premium to have a hot tub. Never had this problem anywhere else and we always book somewhere with a hot tub. Other than that the cottage was exceptional.

Property spotless and well equipped.

We had a couple of glitches which were dealt with speedily and efficiently. We had an enjoyable stay, property only a short walk away from the harbour, we would definitely recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The location was excellent. The jacuzzi was a welcome bonus after long walks. Very clean and well equipped. The only slight negative was the showers were difficult to turn on and off. Our daughter is already planning a return. Can highly recommend.

My second visit to this property and it didn't disappoint.

The property is immaculate and every thought has been put into providing everything you need to have a fantastic holiday.

The property itself was excellent.

Lovely place.Very clean every thing you needed. Great location. However the seagulls hatching all over the property and courtyard, had us awake 3.30am onwards. The noise Very intense at times. 2 chick's fell off roof one died.one was dealt with by owner of property Very quick response which we where grateful for,then on leaving another had fallen off into our area. We do think something could have been put onto off these roofs when building to make sure these gulls couldn't do this. Not a well rested holiday as we where hoping for.

Comfortable and very well appointed property, ideally situated with all of the town's amenities in easy walking distance.

Public transport and longer walks also close by and other attractions in the area can be quite easily accessed by car, out of season anyway. On site parking a great bonus, as is the hot tub. All in all, a great property to enhance a holiday stay.

Perfect place to stay!

Beautifully furnished. Fabulous house..immaculate..had everything we needed. Gowns slippers were lovely as was the bubbly biscuits and milk/tea to get us started. Patio great with hot tub and even the sun put in an appearance. Great location to explore Whitby and the surrounding area. An excellent stay!! Thank you!!

The Cottage was beautiful and very well equipped and maintained.

There was everything that you could wish for, even the Hot Tub. It’s also very well placed for access to Whitby itself with a short walk into the Town centre. The addition of the electrical charging in the garage was also a bonus. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Gorgeous property within walking distance of the town centre.

Very warm, well equipped and spotlessly clean. We only used the hot tub once due to the freezing temperatures over the weekend we were there, otherwise I’m sure we would have made better use of it. Having the big garage and one parking bay was a definite plus point. Would definitely stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay, however the hot tubs chemicals were really strong as soon as the lid was off the smell hit you, just sitting in the hot tub made our eyes hurt.

Only other issue was the early check out of 9.

We’d only ever previously visited Whitby for day visits but the location of this lovely property allowed us to fully appreciate what Whitby has to offer.

It’s an easy walk to Whitby centre (about 5 to 10 minutes), it’s a beautiful property and the hot tub was spot on. We will definitely return and recommend to friends and family

Downstairs and outside area amazing.

Fabulous to have parking, garage and patio in Whitby. Only short walk to all amenities. Upstairs tight for space and did not have the same wow factor as the rest of the property. Hot tub dated. That said we would highly recommend a week here.

The property lives up to all expectations, beautifully furnished and lacks for nothing .

If staying in Whitby in the future it would be my first choice.

Well equipped and maintained. Owners very helpful and sent someone immediately when there was no hot water. All sorted in less than half an hour. A very enjoyable stay, thank you.

Excellent accommodation, first class!

Furnished to a high standard with every detail considered.

Pros: What a lovely property.

Spotless; everything was provided that you would need for a stress free holiday (good quality too). Short walk to town centre and friendly local shops, pubs and takeaway. Cons: Be aware; they like their steep stairs in Yorkshire :-) . Also; we went with 2 teenage boys, so perhaps a bit small for that. No kitchen door meant noise travelled. Overall: despite the small personal observations, we had a great time and would return.

Great property and superb location.

you need earmuffs for the seagulls sometimes but that is Whitby. Front door was difficult to lock but we managed with other 2 doors. Owners were easily contactable and very helpful.

Fabulous little place, great kitchen space.

Outside sun trap with seating and hot tub a great bonus after all the walking. Car parking a real bonus for Whitby and on the quieter side of town. Maintenance called for a battery change in the smoke detector turned up within 15mins. the only one thing I would recommend would be a hand rail on the stairs, I didn't realise until I needed it after stiffening up after a really long walk. Will certainly return

Salt Bay is an excellent holiday home equipped to a very high standard .

We had an amazing time with great weather so the hot tub was a bonus. The location is superb .. easy for walking out and driving around the fabulous area . We would stay nowhere else when visiting this area again .

Only a 10 minute steady, flat walk to Whitby shops, pubs etc and a real bonus having the car parking spaces. The property was furnished to a high standard, we loved the hot tub. The outside area would be great to use in the warmer weather. Would definitely return.

The property is in a great location, just a short walk to Whitby town centre.

The garage & additional parking are invaluable in a busy seaside town. The house is modern, warm, clean, comfortable & stylish. There was a very generous welcome tray awaiting us! The outdoor terrace is secure for a small dog & in summer it must be lovely to sit out. We didn’t use the hot tub, but I’m sure it’d appeal to many people. I have recommended this luxury accommodation to friends (it appears most of the houses in Hogarth’s Yard are available for holiday rental). We had a lovely time exploring North Yorkshire in unseasonably good weather.

Visited Whitby a few times never disappoints, this however was our best stay by far, Saltwick is a fantastic property, exceptional clean, well appointed and very comfortable.

Hot tub was a real bonus, as was the 10 minute walk to the Whitby brewery.

Fabulous modern accommodation spotlessly clean.

We had a fabulous time. The position was perfect. Five minute flat walk into the centre of Whitby. We would recommend Mr Chips, Passage to India & Whitby Wok for takeaways but the kitchen is well equipped for home cooking. There is a great double garage with remote roller door to keep your car covered. Highly recommended

The house was clean with a well equipped kitchen and spacious lounge diner. Excellent location only 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants.

Beautifully styled inside and out,fabulous hot tub and the garage parking was a huge bonus.

approx 10 flat walk to the centre. The extra touches like the robes and slippers as well as the welcome pack,including the thoughtful milk in the fridge to enjoy a much needed cuppa after a 5 hour drive. The bed was so comfortable and the showers sublime. The kitchen was fully fitted with quality products,the outside space we couldn’t really enjoy as the weather wasn’t kind but that’s what the weather does..many places to enjoy meals and drinks. Highly recommend this space if you enjoy that touch of luxury which we all deserve on holiday yes?

A great property in an ideal location for exploring Whitby and having a garage was an added bonus.

Salt Bay Cottage is beautiful and cosy but spacious.

All of the rooms are well appointed and furnished to a high standard. There are lovely extra touches too, such as a bottle of Prosecco on arrival as well as plenty of little goodies to munch on and dressing gowns and slippers to use. The hot tub is brilliant and very relaxing after a day out. The cottage is only 5 minutes walk from Whitby town and close by is a fantastic little fish and chip bar. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the cottage to anyone wishing a break in Whitby.

A gem of a find in Whitby the photographs certainly do not do this place justice, everything just perfect.

Lovely bright and clean accommodation, private hot tub and private parking for 2 + cars. Far enough out of Whitby for peace and quiet but only a 5 minute flat walk into Whitby. Communication excellent with owners. We will certainly be booking again, although we made great use of the hot tub in the summer this would be equally as nice in the winter the lovely outside lighting gives Salt Bay a lovely warm feeling in the evening which I am sure would be experienced in the winter months. Just Fab

This was a well-equipped holiday cottage in a great central location for walking in to the town of Whitby.

The extra seating space outside was perfect when also having children and a dog. The cottage had everything we needed and the hot tub was a lovely relaxing addition. It was a great idea to provide guests with dressing gowns and slippers for when your are getting out of the hot tub. We would stay again at this property.

Well what can I say the cottage was absolutely amazing.

The owners clearly have spent a lot of money to get it up to this standard. The decor was amazing, loved the seaside theme through out. Couldn’t have picked a better cottage to spend our 30th birthday celebration in Whitby. The place was Immaculate with excellent facilities. The terrace at the front was beautiful, would love to return here in summer and make full use the of outdoor dining area. The hot tub was private, tucked around the corner which was amazing after a day of being out and about in Whitby.

Everything was great.

Just for your information, its not a complaint it is just to let you know about your cleaners, we have a place in lowestoft and have little cleaning problems, the welcome pack was great but the box of crisps had been opened and half eaten, under the table in the front room we found a rubber ball, a couple of coins and a tissue, and the washing machine had washing still in it. Only little things but just that little bit of attention to detail needed, we have the same troubles and keep trying to get it sorted.

Absolutely stunning apartment, close to centre of whitby. Very comfortable space and owners clearly thought of everything. Lovely hot tub, beautiful decor, comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Really enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend to other guests looking for somewhere to stay in Whitby. Thankyou.

Couldn’t use the front door as the water settles outside the door.

When we arrived there was a nasty drain smell from the shower in the en-suite bathroom & also dirty marks on our duvet cover.

A lovely house, compliments to the cleaning team as the house was immaculate upon our arrival, downstairs has a fantastic open kitchen with a large island, great for eating around or having a beer (or two!

) around, all the appliances you would expect and plenty of dinnerware, glassware and pots and pans. The property has a good sized dining room/lounge with large screen tv. Upstairs has a double bedroom with en-suite, including shower, whilst the twin room has 2 singles with a bathroom next door including bath & shower, both rooms tastefully decorated, comfy beds, clean crisp linen and plenty of towels. Outside has a wonderful terrace area with patio furniture and the fantastic hot tub easily big enough for 4 people and a great way to unwind after a days walking. The property also has a large double garage and also parking for another car outside the garage. Everything about the house has been thought through to the last finer details and we would recommend it to anybody looking for a property to stay at in Whitby.

We visited Salt Bay in September for a week and had a fantastic stay!

Salt Bay is beautifully decorated and very well equipped with everything you need. Nice and quiet location with excellent parking, having the double garage gave the option to park the car inside the garage if required. We enjoyed having the hot tub especially after a long day exploring what Whitby has to offer and this was located in a lovely secluded corner of the terrace so felt very private. The terrace area was a great addition and a lovely sun trap with plenty of space for our dog to explore. Salt Bay is in a fantastic location only a 5-10 min walk from Whitby centre, we were able to do something different everyday within walking distance. We took a boat trip from the harbour this was fantastic to see the coastline and we even got to see some dolphins I would recommend this. Whitby is very dog friendly and our dog enjoyed the beach which was beautiful, will be returning to this lovely place soon

House was great, the only feedback was that the drains smelt in the en-suite so we had to keep the light on & window open all the time to try and help.

Beautifully renovated house with a wonderful sun trap of a terrace which was also sheltered from the wind.

A really convenient location just a short walk from the shops and harbour. The hospitality tray was a very welcome treat too! Thanks for a wonderful holiday !

The owners strive to be the best holiday let in Whitby, they did not disappoint.

The property is beautifully decorated with clever use of space and luxurious accessories. They really have thought of everything within the property and the little touches they have considered to make your stay that bit better are fantastic. We had a wonderful stay, the hot tub is very private in a tastefully decorated outdoor area. The owners were fantastic to deal with and went above and beyond our expectations. We would definitely book again.

The cottage is within easy walking distance of the harbour and has ample parking space at the property. We travel a lot and like to stay in high end properties, and Salt bay does not disappoint. It is finished and furnished to a high standard with a lovely bright seaside theme. The quality of the finishing was not lost on us even down to the quality of the kitchen utensils which gives a top quality feel. The outside area is a lovely sun trap in the evening giving a great space to relax after a busy day. I would highly recommend this property for a great base to explore the Whitby area.
