“The property is close to the centre of Whitby - approximately a 10 minute walk to the shops.”

The house is on a hill so the view all the way across to the Abbey, from one of the double bedrooms, is lovely. It was nice and warm, we didn't touch the heating as it was already set. The house is on a hill so the view all the way across to the Abbey, from one of the double bedrooms, is lovely. It was nice and warm, we didn't touch the heating as it was already set. The first living room was as shown and comfortable for a small group but unfortunately there was not enough seating for our group of 7 so someone was always sat on the floor. A couple of floor cushions or a beanbag would have helped. The second sitting room was nicely decorated but didn't contain much other than a sofa facing a wall, so no-one really wanted to sit in there. The TV/playstation advertised was not there, a note was left to tell us it was out of order, so that was a little disapointing. The beds were comfortable but some of the bedding (a coverlet?) in one of the double rooms was stained which wasn't nice and there was an old sock found under the bed in the twin room. The twin room also had a lot of wiring/extension lead on the floor which could be a trip hazard, especially for children. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The kitchen/diner was ok although not particularly cosy. The yard was very basic, nothing inviting. Overall our stay was ok - it was warm and close to town and fine for a few days when out and about most of the time anyway. I would have preferred it to feel a bit more homely and for it to have had more of a deep clean.

The property

15 George Street is a charming Victorian property with sea views boasting lots of character and set in the heart of Whitby, where its historic harbour glistens with colourful boats and its abbey towers over red rooftops.

This is the ideal place for a family holiday with friends in a wonderful area of North Yorkshire.

Climb three steps to the entrance hallway and head straight through to the main sitting room, which has a large bay window streaming in lots of natural light.

The electric fire adds warmth to the room during those colder months, where you can gather in the evenings and tune into the Smart TV or enjoy a board game together.

Move through to the second sitting room for some peace and quiet, or head down to the lower ground floor for a delicious homemade meal around the dining table, as the woodburning stove crackles away in the background.

The kitchen area is also on the lower ground floor and boasts a range cooker as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility next door.

There is access to the back yard from here, where you can sit out with a drink and discuss events from your day.

Find the master bedroom and family bathroom up on the first level, where you can indulge a hot soak in the bathtub on return from one of your walks.

Resting on the second floor, the double bedroom showcases fabulous views over the rooftops towards Whitby Abbey and the moors through the high window, while the twin and single bedrooms are ideal for those travelling with children or grandparents.

Discover many attractions in the town centre, which is a pleasant stroll away and has beaches, the harbour and many shops, pubs and restaurants along its winding streets and of course the 199 steps to reach the abbey.

Day trips can be enjoyed at Robin Hood's Bay or the seaside resort of Scarborough, while the North York Moors offer plenty to do in the great outdoors; you'll be spoilt for walking and cycling trails, there is also a golf course around a 10 minute drive away.

Choose this delightful holiday let for that much-needed break to Yorkshire.
