    “Can't wait to go home!”

........Unfortunately, for our extended stay in Whitby this year, we booked 2 weeks at 'The Sleepers' . After the first week we thought we'd get used to the constantly creaking floor in the living area, but sadly not.... it has driven us mad! (this was mentioned in a review back in May 2024). As it is an upside down house, you cannot place a foot on the floor in the living areas without it creaking, it is impossible for anyone in the bedrooms to sleep in, or have a quiet space if anyone is using ...

........Unfortunately, for our extended stay in Whitby this year, we booked 2 weeks at 'The Sleepers' . After the first week we thought we'd get used to the constantly creaking floor in the living area, but sadly not.... it has driven us mad! (this was mentioned in a review back in May 2024). As it is an upside down house, you cannot place a foot on the floor in the living areas without it creaking, it is impossible for anyone in the bedrooms to sleep in, or have a quiet space if anyone is using the upstairs living area. The bed was starting to feel uncomfortable and the memory foam topper must have a very long memory as it is well furrowed(again previously reviewed Dec 23!)The weather was not too good, we had wet coats hanging over the bannisters and inside the upstairs toilet as there is nowhere to hang coats as you walk in the front door. The heating controls are placed downstairs, so if you want the sleeping accomodation at a reasonable temperature during cooler weather you are being cooked in the upstairs living accomodation as it gets so hot. We sat there with the heating on to warm the downstairs bedrooms with upstairs windows open! The owner of the cleaning company came round halfway through our stay to address some issues and could not be more apologetic for the welcome pack, the bedding, lack of bin bags, cleaning supplies and for the maintenance issues(all previously reported), she also explained she was limited by the resources provided to her by the owners......she was doing her best. Had we signed up for the cancellation option, we would have cancelled. Sadly, we didn't, not a great Sykes Holiday Cottage Experience.......
