Stephenson Cottage

The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed.

The bed in the small bedroom could have been a little wider but it was ok for a week. Having the parking is definitely a bonus. Great price also. Shame about the noise from opposite car park Saturday and Sunday evening from group meeting up in their cars, playing loud music and driving up and down car park at high speed. Having said that it wouldn’t stop us from coming again as we have stayed in the railway cottages several times now over the years and we love them.

Lovely cottage in ideal location just a short hop from the centre of town, with steam trains running past the property in season.

A lovely cottage in an excellent position.

Very handy for watching the trains go by. The only real problem we had was a lack of teaspoons - just 3! We would definitely stay there again.

Such a lovely cottage located perfectly to be close enough to walk into the hustle and bustle of Whitby, but far enough away to escape it when you have had enough.

It was a treat to see the steam trains pass the property - and although its right next to the train line, as its a destination stop, you aren't disturbed by the trains at all. Clean, tidy and cosy. The welcome pint of milk, tea, coffee and Bothams biccies were very much appreciated. We loved Stephensons Cottage!

Stephenson's Cottage is a lovely holiday let in a very central location with the benefit of off road parking right outside.

The cottage is extremely well equipped and everything was spotlessly clean. It is the first time we have slept better in holiday accommodation than in our own beds. we particularly loved the pillows. The false alarm concern we had about the extractor fan in the bathroom not working was quickly resolved by the owner (the switch above the door had been turned off) We will definitely recommend.

An excellent position and a wonderful place to people-watch, enjoy the views and wave at the people in the trains as they pass.

We even saw a boat being launched from a Wonderfull!across the river. Wonderfull! The beds were uber-comfy.The cottage was comfortable,clean and homely. We could even use the TV handset. That was great. This is our second visit and we will definitely book again. A central accommodation with all the sites a stones throw away. Well worth a visit

A fantastic cottage in the heart of Whitby, with the added bonus of private parking on site.

The cottage was spotless and had everything required. We will definitely returning to Stephensons Cottage next time in Whitby.

Facilities excellent. The cottage was a great place to stay in Whitby with everything close by yet away from the Whitby hum-drum. Great to see the boats and trains across from the cottage. All-in-all it was a fantastic holiday at a place that was home from home. We have booked for next year so there you are. We'll done everyone.

Great location, comfortable and a very good sized parking space. Only suggestion for improvement would be some coat hooks in the entrance hall, perhaps replacing the picture over the radiator.

. decorated nicely and we loved the whitby pictures everywhere. We hardly used the car.. was able to walk everywhere as there's some much to see at whitby. Fabulous holiday would definitely use again.

Having limited mobility it was convenient to get to the shops etc. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever had and made for a good night's sleep.

platform 12 last year was just the same. we will be back.

The cutlery and crockery was grubby with signs of left-over food on it.

These items had not been cleaned properly by a previous occupant and we had to wash each item before use. Even knives had been replaced in the knife block with traces of food still attached. Again no attempt had been made to clean these items properly after use. The light on the landing was not working and neither were two of the bulbs in the kitchen.

Just two small things need towel in upstairs toilet and kitchen

A lovely cosy, comfortable cottage, extremely well maintained and furnished with everything you need.

It is in a very central location, directly behind the railway station and just 2 mins walk into the town centre, yet on a very quiet and peaceful street with the bonus of having a dedicated parking space. Beautiful views looking directly across the marina towards the Abbey and a lovely outdoor seating area to watch the steam trains passing. The station is quiet as only one train came through every hour. We have stayed in quite a few cottages in Whitby and have returned to Stephenson's cottage or Hudson cottage next door at least 5 times now as they are absolutely ideal.

A clean and comfortable cottage in a great location and with a large parking space.

Had everything we needed except perhaps could do with some coat hooks in the entrance hallway. Description could do with updating as now has an electric hob (not gas) plus a useful dishwasher and DVD player.

Just returned from a week's stay in Stephensons Cottage and highly recommend a stay here.

The cottage is extremely clean, well maintained, furnished and equipped with the most comfortable double bed. It is ideally situated in the centre of Whitby ,a 5 minute walk to the harbour area and is overlooking the marina with a lovely view towards the Abbey. The cottage has it's own designated parking space right outside which is almost unheard of in Whitby and is situated behind the train station and bus terminal so no need to use a car if preferred. Excellent walks along the beach or cliff tops to Sandsend and so many lovely cafe's, restaurants and pubs to choose from. This is our 2nd stay at Stophensons cottage and 3rd stay with Sykes on Railway Terrace- we love it so much and will definitely be back

Fabulous cottage.

This was our 2nd stay. Everything you need. Comfy beds. Lovely and warm. Great views over the estuary. Bonus of parking which can be difficult in Whitby. Very close to amenities. We will be back .

Very pleasant and convenient place to stay.

Own parking very useful. Pity the steam trains were not running, one of the reasons for choosing this location. As an older person did find the step over the bath very high, walk in showers are easier. Taps in kitchen and push button toilet flush slightly difficult. Minor considerations younger people would not notice, all in all it was very satisfactory.

Great accommodation.

Fantastically placed for a wander into town. Lovely and quiet for the majority of the time (those Seagulls!) and everything was clean and wellpresented.

Great view of the railway and steam engines, the harbour and Whitby Abbey. Surprisingly quiet considering the location near the all the sights. Well equipped and comfortable.

Brilliant location for exploring Whitby and North Yorkshire , added bonus having a car parking space ,reducing stress levels of trying to get parked in the centre of Whitby as it gets very busy .

This is our 2nd stay at Railway Cottages (last time next door in Hudson Cottage) These cottages are ideally located, being in central Whitby within easy walking distance to the town centre, yet being on a very quiet road.

They have a wonderful view of Whitby marina looking across to the Abbey, with a lovely patio/garden area where you can watch the trains pass by. Stephenson cottage was warm, exceptionally clean and well furnished, beautifully comfy bed, lovely big bath with shower and the bonus of it's own parking space (a rarity in Whitby) The only thing that let this property down was the lack of a welcome pack on arrival, not even basics of teabags or milk so unable to make a drink until we went out to buy some, it is the first time in many years of renting cottages that we have not received one usually with a welcome note from the owners so was quite disappointed.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Stephenson Cottage Whitby, we would certainly recommend this property to anybody, it was clean and tidy with everything you would possibly need for your stay at the cottage and a few little extras , The location of the property is perfect for your stay in Whitby, you are only six minutes walking time from the town centre, bus station and trains including the steam train.

Arriving at Whitby I had cause to phone the owner of the cottage to find the exact location of the property I found Steve to be polite and very willing to help. We like the cottage so much that before leaving booked for next year.

Small but perfectly adequate for the three of us. Only a five minute walk into the centre of town. Loved to watch the steam trains go by right outside the window. A little gem.

Private parking, good Wi-fi, Bus and Train stations at the end of the road, likewise the biggest Co-op I've ever been in. We had a smashing week here.
