This is a very lovely cottage - newly renovated and furnished - that sleeps 4 people plus has a sofa bed for an additional person; it has superb views out across the harbour plus a lawned garden to the front and terraced garden with BBQ and seating. A glorious, newly renovated and furnished cottage in immaculate condition with fabulous views over the harbour plus the real advantage of lovely outside space including terrace and BBQ. With beautiful décor, this is a superb choice for families and friends; within easy walking distance, along the harbour side, to the centre of town and the beach.

The cottage was lovely, met all our needs

The only suggestion I would have is a mop and bucket so you could mop the bathroom each day especially after 4 adults had used it.



Lower Ground Floor
To the lower ground floor is a second reception room with a sofa which converts to a bed; this room has a TV plus a door which leads to the terraced garden.
Ground Floor
The cottage has a superb open plan living area with a stylish kitchen that includes an electric oven and hob and dishwasher. There is seated area to enjoy meals plus a sitting room with a wood burning stove-style electric fire, TV/DVD player, comfortable sofas and lovely views over the harbour.

Off this floor is a stylish house shower room with good size shower, WC and hand wash basin.
First Floor
To the first floor is a superb double bedroom with views over the harbour.
Second Floor
To the second floor is a charming twin bedroom, again, with glorious views of the harbour.
To the outside is an enclosed lawned garden to one side plus a two-tier terraced garden with superb harbour views. There is seating plus a BBQ, ideal for al fresco dining or to just sit and enjoy a cup of tea and watch the boats in the morning or a night cap under a starry sky before bed.





Sunshine Cottage is located on the east side of town, just off Church Street, near the harbour. The property is accessed either from Church Street (up some stone steps) or from the top, where there is free 24/7 on-street parking.

Notes: The property is accessed either from Church Street (up some stone steps) or from the top, where there is free 24/7 on-street parking. The second floor twin room has no door and there is an open space at the top of the stairs; very young children would, therefore, need to be assisted in climbing the stairs and supervised whilst in the room. Note: Please note that there is no washing machine at this property.

Sunshine Cottage is a period detached house.

Arrival and Car Parking

There is unrestricted on-street parking within 50 yards of the house.

Entrance and Ground Floor

There are two ways to reach the property. The most direct is to walk down the steps from The Ropery. There are 5 steps down to Sunshine Cottage down a flagstone walkway. The other way to get to the house is from Church Street. This involves 59 steps up the flagstone walkway. The walkway is around 1.5M wide at the narrowest point. The front garden and yard is accessed through a metal gate that is 82cm wide. The front yard is laid to flagstones and measures 1.5M by 5M. The wheelie bins are kept to the right of the front door. There are three 20cm steps up to the main garden, which measures 5M by 6M. The garden is mainly lawn with borders.

The front door has a clear opening of 70cm and the handle and lock are 125cm from floor level. The door opens into the kitchen and lounge area. This combined kitchen / diner and lounge area measures 3.8M by 6.8M and has laminate flooring. The kitchen area has a number of wall and floor units and has a laminate worktop at 92cm from floor level. There is a dishwasher and fridge below worktop level along with an electric fan oven with 4 ring electric hob. The dining table has a height of 75cm and has seating for four. The space around the table varies but is around 90cm at the narrowest point. The lounge area contains two sofas, an electric log burner style fire and a TV.

The main heating in this property is gas fired central heating. Most of the internal doors have Suffolk latches with the handle between 1M and 1.3M.

There is a cupboard off the lounge area that houses the boiler and provides under stairs storage.

Access to the bathroom is also through a door in this area. The door has an opening width of 72cm. The bathroom measures 1.9M by 2M and has a tiled floor. The room contains a WC, a wash basin and a shower. The wet room style shower area has an open doorway of 74cm wide and a level floor.

There are fourteen carpeted stairs down to the lower ground floor. The stairs are 85cm wide and has a handrail to the right at 96cm from floor level.

Lower Ground Floor

At the bottom of the stairs is a door with an opening width of 77cm. The lower ground floor lounge measures 3.1M by 3.5M and has laminate floor. The room contains a large sofa and a single chair, along with a TV. This room gives access via the back door to the rear garden. The doorway is 69cm. There are two steps down to a rear patio area. The steps are 14cm and 20cm. The patio has a flagstone floor and measures 3.2M by 9.3M. There is a table and seating for four along with a barbecue. To one side of this patio are eight steps at 20cm each to a raised seating area that contains a metal bench, giving views over the Whitby rooftops.

To access the first floor you need to go back up to the ground floor. A door with an opening width of 63cm leads to the stairs up to the first floor. The fourteen carpeted stairs are 18cm tall and the stairway is 70cm wide. There is a handrail on the right at 95cm from floor level.

First floor

The first floor landing has varnished floorboards and measures 1M by 2.9M.

The double bedroom is accessed via through a 70cm doorway. This room is 2.8M by 3.4M and has varnished floorboards. The room contains a double bed, a chest of drawers and two bedside tables. The mattress top is 70cm from floor level. The spaces at sides of bed are 75cm to the left and 55cm to the right. The room has a hanging area built into the space under the stairs through a 58cm wide doorway.

The first floor landing leads through a 60cm door to a flight of stairs that lead up to the second floor. The eleven carpeted stairs are 22cm tall and the stairway is 70cm wide. There is a handrail on the left at 1.1M from floor level.

Second Floor

The second floor is a twin bedroom formed in the roof-space. There are exposed timber beams and trusses and a low beam to be aware of at the top of the stairs at 1.5M from floor level. The room measures 3.4M by 4.5M and has varnished floorboards. As this room has no door there is an open space at the top of the stairs. Young children would need to be assisted in climbing the stairs and would need to be supervised while in the twin bedroom. The room has restrictive head height due to a sloping ceiling. The room is 2.5M high in the centre of the room but reduces to 15cm at both sides of the room. The room contains two single beds with a mattress height of 55cm. The room also has a chest of drawers, two bedside tables and hanging space. The beds have a space of 55cm between them.
