The property

Albany @ Summerfield Farm sits on the edge of Hawsker in North Yorkshire, within the North York Moors National Park, offering a well-planned farm stay with partial ground-floor living and carefully integrated assisted facilities.

As the largest and most comprehensively equipped accessible cottage at Summerfield Farm, and the only one with dedicated bariatric provision, Albany has been designed as a genuine family holiday home, combining generous space with thoughtful features that support guests with more complex mobility needs, carers, and additional equipment.

Inside, the open-plan living space brings the kitchen, dining and sitting areas together in a layout shaped for shared time, everyday comfort and flexibility, whether relaxing as a group or accommodating assisted transfers.

Large windows draw in natural light throughout the day, framing countryside and distant coastal scenery, with views reaching towards Whitby Abbey.

The kitchen pairs wooden worktops with red wall tiles, creating a warm and characterful space that is fully equipped for longer stays, including a dishwasher, washer and dryer, with accessible appliances making meal preparation easy to manage.

Close by, the dining area offers an inviting place to gather for unhurried breakfasts or plan the next day’s adventures, while the sitting area centres around a woodburning stove, complemented by accessible seating, a bariatric rise and recline chair, and a flexible arrangement suited to mixed needs.

A TV, guest Netflix account, books, toys and games provide relaxed entertainment at the end of the day.

Accommodation is arranged across three bedrooms and sleeps up to six guests, making it well suited to families travelling with carers.

On the ground floor, an accessible twin bedroom is fitted with a bariatric profiling bed, ceiling-track hoist, space for equipment and support for assisted transfers, alongside an additional electric single bed to offer further flexibility, with a mobile hoist available for use throughout the bedroom, bathroom or living areas.

Upstairs, a king-size bedroom provides a calm retreat, while a smaller twin bedroom offers further sleeping space for children or additional guests.

Washing facilities include a large, fully accessible ground-floor wet room with level access, a roll-in walk-in shower, support rails, generous turning space and a range of shower seating options, enhanced by a coastal-themed mural, as well as an upstairs family bathroom with bath, over-bath shower, basin and WC.

Further accessibility equipment, including a Sara Stedy and Atlas Advance turning aid, can be provided on request, allowing support to be tailored to individual requirements.

Outside, a private, fenced garden creates a safe place for children and dogs to roam across the lawn, with garden furniture arranged for relaxed outdoor dining, and direct access to surrounding fields and walking routes away from roads and traffic.

Off-road parking for two cars sits close to the property, while a pub is within walking distance and the nearest shop is a short drive away.

Whitby can be reached by car or via the nearby Cinder Track, a traffic-free, wheelchair-accessible route taking around 50 minutes on foot or wheels.

Albany @ Summerfield Farm offers a welcoming and well-considered North Yorkshire escape, where accessibility is thoughtfully embedded throughout, allowing families, carers and guests to enjoy time away together with comfort, ease and flexibility, framed by both coast and countryside.

Robin Hood’s Bay provides a very different coastal experience, where time by the shore and scenic viewpoints reward slower exploration, and the ever?changing light along the coastline creates a memorable backdrop without needing to venture far. For a journey through the heart of the countryside, the North York Moors Railway delivers a nostalgic experience, with heritage steam trains, restored stations, and rolling views of moorland, valleys, and woodland unfolding beyond the carriage windows, allowing everyone to take in the character of the landscape with ease..
