Waverley Cottage

This accomodation was immaculate and clean.

Generally very well equipped and set in a lovely area with plenty of wildlife around splendid. However although stated in the details of the accommodation we felt access was a little difficult. No grab or handrail to the steps at the front of the property and a very deep step in and out the patio doors. The elderly might struggle with this - we did. Lastly, no grab rail in the shower either. A great property let down by access for us - such a shame.

Waverley Cottage is a real home from home.

We love staying there. It's in the perfect spot between the Humber and the sea, a stone's throw from the pub and surrounded by the beautiful unique landscape of Spurn. You can even see deer just outside the living room window! We love the layout of the cottage, the high ceilings and that each bedroom has a bathroom. It's got a washing machine and dishwasher and all the equipment you could need to make your own meals. The outside seating area is great too and I think it's also got a barbecue. We all love Waverley Cottage. Thank you.

This is our second visit to Waverley Cottage.

We love the location. We see so much wildlife. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything for a relaxing time away from the stress of life. Would and do recommend it whenever we can. Thank you.

Perfect for walks from the door or short walk to local pub for excellent food and drink with views over the estuary.

Lovely escape.

The bungalow was well-equipped and even had some treats. Easy to find, off-road parking. Only slight downside - Winding narrow roads meant more time in the car than anticipated to reach places we wanted to visit, but we got fresh air and peaceful isolation in return. We even saw a deer in the field.

This property is all you could wish for,views,comfort and quiet.

.deer each day +barn owl..beds so comfy and the easiest to work cooker of anywhere we have stayed..we have already booked for next year.

We enjoyed our stay at Waverley cottage, it was clean, comfortable and warm.

It's situated in a quiet area but ony a short walk to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Centre which has a nice cafe to pop in to at the end of your walks aound the nature trails or along the beach. Also a perfect base for exploring Spurn Point which is facinating.We saw two hares in the field ouside the cottage and quite a few interesting birds on the trails and also deer in the locality. The crown and Anchor only a few minutes walk away is a lovely pub with good beer, tasty food and friendly owners and watching the sunset from the pub was wonderful. We had a great few days at Waverley Cottage and I'm sure we will return soon.

The cottage was lovely and warm, on a cold Winters day.

Comfortable and clean. Lovely welcome pack. Everything was provided. The area is perfect to switch off. A lovely walk from Discovery centre up along the bank to the Crown and Anchor. A friendly and traditional pub. Very good meals. Would return. The steps to the single door are high, but easier to access inside from patio doors as this has a railing and three steps.

A perfect spot for walking and birdwatching.

A very well maintained cottage, airy with all the modern conveniences. Though appears to be remote , there is a pub and a cafe nearby and the food is very good . Would certainly be returning soon .

Perfect location for complete tranquillity to get away from the rat race! It catered to all of our needs, inside and out. Lovely to view all the wildlife on your door step, fawn, owls, hares and seals too. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Waverley Cottage and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. We found the property to be of very good order.

Didn’t want for anything. Great location. We did enjoy the circular walk down the road returning via the estuary path. An excellent week very chilling.

Wonderful, comfortable property.

On arrival we found Waverley to be spotlessly clean and a very thoughtful welcome pack was provided and indeed welcomed by us ! The property has everything you need for a very comfortable stay but if you chose to eat out The Crown and Anchor pub serves fabulous food and fine ales. The Visitors Centre also does a great breakfast but self catering at Waverley is not a problem as the owner has provided everything you need. The outside space overlooks a meadow which was teeming with wild life, deer, hares and pheasants and even a barn owl. Some lovely walks along The Humber and the beach. Really enjoyed our holiday here, so much so we booked straight away for next year !

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting which met all our expectations.

The view over from the sitting room area over the meadow was spectacular as we were fortunate enough to be there when the oxeye daisies and buttercups were in full bloom. We also saw plenty of wildlife.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Waverley Cottage.

We did have trouble getting the dishwasher to work properly as it was very difficult to press the buttons and figure the programme out. There was also a lot of water at the front gate after it had rained. Owing to the fact that we are elderly and not very good at walking, we found that the location was very isolated and there was not a lot that interested us. However it provided us with absolute peace and quiet and for this reason we enjoyed our time there.

Excellent location for bird watching and close to the pub for good meals.

The cottage is comfortable and is well stocked with everything you'd need for self catering. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. It was fabulous to look over the adjacent meadow and towards the estuary, we were visited by the resident barn owl and roe deer on most days. The only negative point concerns the WiFi connection which was non-existant unless you stood by the window in the twin bedroom to access the signal from the router in the building next door! 4g was also not accessible unless you stood in the right place outside. This meant that checking on weather forecasts and up to date bird sightings for the day was very difficult to say the least. Be aware if internet access is important to you. The Crown and Anchor has free WiFi however. We would recommend the cottage for location and comfort however.

Modern, comfortable and nicely situated between pub and YWT visitor centre

We thought everything was absolutely amazing, The only thing we found was the heating didn't come on, it did get cold a couple of nights,, we could probably have turned it on but it looked complicayed were no of the tech ere so we just left it alone,, other than that brilliant

Perfect location for birding at Spurn, very convenient to be able to leave the car and walk from the doorstep or even just bird from the patio garden.

The cottage is brand new, comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and have booked our next break already!

Top Class Property.

This cottage was spotless, the king bed was very comfy, nice powerful shower and huge bath, lovely bedding & towels. Kitchen was great with full size fridge freezer, full size dishwasher, washer/dryer and a clothes airer but oddly no ironing board or iron! Could do with a couple of serving spoons but it was ALL absolutely fantastic. Lots of parking space inside your gated area. Lovely seating area with a table on the lower level with a lovely big sun parasol that actually shades both levels if needed We were blessed with wall to wall sunshine all week so we ate out sat on the top patio every day (would be great to have a small bistro set on here) as the views from here are beautiful as you are elevated so you get amazing views over the fields, the step from the patio doors onto the top patio is very deep though so care is needed. We saw deer multiple times every day from here , we saw foxes playing in the field and we also saw barn owls, the deer even came into the owners garden next door which was lovely to see. We had a problem on our 4th day and it was IMPOSSIBLE to get hold of the contact number left in the property which is actually for a cleaning company Kleansail, we tried by phone & text message as when ringing them multiple times it just kept saying this person is not available and try again later or send a text which we did but they never replied to us at all and they are the only contact number for anything during your stay so we ended up ringing Sykes and they finally got the problem sorted out for us. It would be much better to have direct contact with the owners as this is the first time in many years of bookings with Sykes that we have not had a direct contact number with the actual owners of a property. This cottage is just amazing and we would love return to stay here again in the future. It is so peaceful and tranquil. You have great walks in both directions from the door and a lovely pub 5 min walk away. Absolutely stunning property. Thank you x

Spotlessly clean and great peaceful location

The cottage is exactly as described and was clean and comfortable and has been finished to a really high standard.

It contained everything we needed for our stay including useful information on the surrounding area. Sitting in the garden we watched deer, pheasants and a barn owl going about their business. It was a lovely, relaxing holiday and we would definitely stay again.
