We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunnybrae again.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable with everything needed. The owner is very accommodating and easy to contact. We will definitely return and recommend.

Sunnybrae is a very comfortable place to stay.

It was clean, tidy and very well equipped. The welcome pack was very much appreciated upon arrival. It's location was perfect as a base for sightseeing around the area.

This little cottage is one of a few on a site just by the Larpool Viaduct which you can walk to within 5 mins for some views or a stroll into Whitby.

The owners left us bread, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits for when we arrived which was a lovely touch and most appreciated after a long drive from the south! The kitchen is superbly stocked, as is the games/DVD cabinet. The sofas are not the best but the beds were all very comfortable. We had no complaints and would absolutely stay here again if we find ourselves in Whitby in the future.

A beautiful location overlooking Larpool viaduct with direct access to many walks, Sunnybrae proved ideal for our January 26 week's break on the outskirts of Whitby.

Snow, sleet, ice, rain and finally winter sun made each day different. Sunnybrae always provided a warm, comfortable, homely environment, for our return.

What a fabulous property.

Clean, warm and cosy. A real home from home - everything you could want/need is provided. Upon arrival, the owner had left us bread, milk and biscuits, which were very welcome. The walk into Whitby along the Cinder Trail is lovely. We would have no hesitation in staying here again - though in order to avoid the snow we experienced whilst there (which made travelling across the Moors extremely scary!!), we’d ensure we visited earlier in the year. You will not be disappointed if you choose to holiday here.

A clean and well presented accommodation.

Very quiet for an ideal getaway. The provisions left of milk, bread, tea, and biscuits was a welcome sight and much appreciated. Fabulous views from the viaduct. Only a mile from Whitby. We tried out The Penny Hedge which was lovely. Bridge Inn at Ruswarp where you can see the steam train go by. Visited Whitby Brewery. We left a phone behind and the owner quickly let us know and offered to send it back to us. Many thanks. The Bonass family.

Fantastic place to stay, very spacious and comfortable .

Ideal spot for a stay in Whitby. Everything is very easy to get to. The hosts provided a welcome tray which was very much appreciated. The only negative ìs that to get into the bath/shower the bath is very deep, so anyone with mobility issues would struggle to get in/out of the bath.

Nice and warm and kept to a very good standard. Kitchen well stocked. Very competitively priced - please keep it that way. Only comment is that double mattresses could do with decent toppers on - back bedroom was pretty hard. I like hard but a topper would make it more comfy hard.

Great location

Lovely house in a great location with great views of the viaduct.

The balcony outside the bedroom was great to sit out on a morning.

Property was clean and well-presented throughout.

Welcoming touch with tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits provided. Plenty of storage space provided for food, and everything we needed utensil wise. Kitchen roll and tin foil would be a welcome addition but it didn't detract from how well supplied the kitchen was. Clothes storage space was also good in all the bedrooms with plenty of well-placed sockets. Parking was a bit of an issue over the first weekend with some properties having guests with more than one car but we managed to park just a little further down the hill, opposite the swimming pool centre. We would happily consider returning for another stay.

We really enjoyed our stay and everything was so comfortable.

The house is in a beautiful setting and very close to the centre of Whitby - only 20 mins’ walk along the cinder path. Thoroughly recommended. (I would add though that maybe the stairs are too steep for people with limited mobility). Just one tiny quibble - the kitchen chairs need some sticky felt pads on the underside of the legs to prevent grating noises at every movement! Thank you for a lovely hioliday.

We had a lovely stay at Sunnybrae.

The property was clean and tidy with an array of appliances and in a great location. Robin Hood's Bay was close by along with other great tourist locations. The walk to Whitby along the Cinder Track was pleasant and took us 20 minutes (walking slowly). We didn't find the bed in the main room overly comfortable and did have trouble sleeping, unfortunately we couldn't fit our bed in the car :-) The property is close to supermarkets, only a 5 minute drive away and only about 8 minutes into Whitby itself. The bedrooms had plenty of storage and the bathroom was nice and big, my only issue was that there were no hooks on the doors to hang things, would be useful for a towel on the bathroom door. We did have some issues with parking on our stay, there seemed to be more than 1 car per property and there weren't enough spaces. I would recommend Sunnybrae as a great place to stay.

Highly recommend this cottage.

The path via 'The Cinder Track' into central Whitby is a very pleasant leafy 20 min stroll, with great views. Cottage was clean, comfortable, ample parking and owner polite and helpful. A bonus is the view from the rear patio towards the viaduct across the wooded Esk valley. Daily sightings of the heritage steam train, as well plenty of birdlife in the trees.

Everything you would need. Comfortable wonderfully clean and warm. Great location only a short walk or a five minute drive into Whitby. I would give it 10 out of 10.

We loved our stay at Sunnybrae, It was handy the the owners left some bread,cookies and milk do we could make a cuppa when we arrived.

We've been coming to the properties for 10 years It was clean and comfortable. There is everything you could possibly want and need here with good views to see the Steam trains and walking across the viaduct with good views to Whitby Abbey. We only had a few problems with the T.V, in the lounge we think somebody had fiddled with it. You couldn't want more and we will use again if there is vacancies. You have to go to the Abbey and Gouthland and go gor a walk along Staithes and Whitby. We go to Robinhoods Bay it's a brilliant base to use. It was one of our best stays. Thankyou.

Nice accommodation,not to far away from whitby 5minute car drive or a walk across the viaduct ,everything you could want in a holiday home ,when visiting this area again i would try to rent this property for my stay.

We stayed next door to Sunnybrae at the same time last year and knew we wanted to return to Whitby with the location of these holiday cottages being perfect for us.

The walk into Whitby down the Cinder Track is great and the views from the house are good too. A parking space is a real bonus and it’s so peaceful there by the viaduct. Sunnybrae itself has been fantastic for us. The holiday home was spotlessly clean, immaculately tidy and uncluttered with everything you need for a decent break away. We felt relaxed and comfortable there and couldn’t fault it at all. There are supermarkets close by and the food at the nearby Windmill pub is great! We will be back and we will definitely be choosing Sunnybrae - a fabulous location at a reasonable price. Thank you Louise and Dave for having us :)

Very pleased with the cottage.

Most of what I might need was there but I had to buy certain items that perhaps should have been supplied. The worst of all was the pans. They were appalling. There is no way I would eat food that had been cooked in some of those pans. One of the frying pans was more Velcro that Teflon. Not big points but it took the edge off the enjoyment.

We started to holiday in adjacent holiday site, but this property is far better so we prefer to come here now, we’ve been 3 times here now.

From here you can walk in a straight line on the beautiful Cinder trail straight into Whitby in about 15-30 mins depending on pace. Perfect to burn the calories off from the many good food places. The owners are always super kind when we’ve talked to them. Which is a BIG plus for me!! The location and property is absolutely perfect. Plenty of parking!! We prefer it than actually been in Whitby town it’s 2 mins away by car but we always walk. Cons,(and I mean to make things perfect for me ☺️ as it’s already amazing) bath is lovely and spacious but the shower is pathetic

fabulous hoasting as dishwasher wasn't working so delivered us a lovely box of chocs great to walk in to whitby great value for a family will be back this was our second visit.

3rd time staying at Sunnybrae, its as lovely as ever, home from home.

Absolutely lovely place to stay,the owners were very friendly & helpful,a nice welcome pack on arrival, bread,milk etc,Sunnybrae was so clean,comfortable & cosy also plenty of space in all room,it is situated in an ideal location with fantastic views,we will definitely be back!

I booked this holiday home for my daughter and family and whilst the location was fairly good - too much noise from neighbouring holiday homes, they wouldn’t really want to stay there again.

The cleanliness of the place was quite and I wish they had told me before the end of the holiday. There was a lot of dust and mould on the walls - this is most unacceptable at any time, but especially so at this time when Covid is still rife. This holiday home was definately not cleaned on a regular basis! Very disappointed!

The cookies, bread and milk were very much appreciated. The only slight niggle would be the pressure of the shower, it was usable but very slow, other than that we throughly enjoyed our stay.

Ideally placed for the cinder track, we walked to Whitby every day, sometimes twice & we never tired of the place, took about 20 minutes, also walked to Robin Hoods Bay which took around 1 hour 40 minutes. There is also a lovely walk to Ruswarp & back to Whitby harbour on a path by the railway. It was great to have parking & we hardly used the car all week. Highly recommend this property, Helen & Scott

We had a lovely time at Sunnybrae.

The house was clean, the beds very comfortable, nice large kitchen with plenty of utensils. The balcony in the bedroom was a suntrap, nice to sit in the morning with a cup of tea or coffee. Its about a 30 minute steady walk into Whitby along the cinder path. We had a very enjoyable stay and we had perfect weather. We will be booking again.

After my initial silliness in going to the wrong address, quickly corrected by the owners.

The accommodation was superb. Extremely clean with all the facilities you could need. The welcome pack of bread, milk and biscuits was fully appreciated. The beds were comfy and the house was warm. It was great to be able to access the Cinder path to walk into Whitby. Many thanks to our hosts the Johnson's for a first class stay. We would be happy to stay again and fully recommend.

Sunnybrae is immaculately clean.

Very well laid out and comfortable. It is the most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in,and never disappoints.

There were no recycling facilities at the site or nearby.

This was surprising and disappointing (though not a criticism of the accommodation). The design of the house means the living room does not get much natural light, but otherwise excellent inside and out. Would highly recommend.

Fab holiday property in a great location about a mile from Whitby along a very good path called the cinder track.

Sunnybrae was absolutely spotless and had plenty of room for two couples. Very well equipped and we were left a very welcome food pack. If you are lucky enough to stay here we would recommend eating at The Four Seasons restaurant, the Penny Hedge and the Forge Inn for Sunday lunch. The only recommendations we would have is that the although we didn’t have too many problems parking markings would really help as some people are very inconsiderate and do not park correctly. There is also no recycling which in these times cannot believe the local council allows this. We brought ours home !!! We would definitely book this property again and have recommended it to our family and friends.

Had a lovely week at Sunnybrae.

The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed. We had some nice walks into Whitby along the Cinder Path ( only a mile ) and going the other way on the track there is a lovely pub ( The Windmill ). Good views of the river and the steam trains going from Pickering into Whitby.

Lovely clean cottage, well equipped kitchen and plenty of wardrobe space that is often lacking in other cottages.

It's in a great location for walking and is just a short walk outside Whitby. There is parking for all properties in the complex. Was surprised that the local council doesn't supply a recycling facility, we had to bring ours home! We would certainly stay here again. Loved it!

Had a lovely much needed week in this beautiful clean and comfortable cottage, stayed in Whitby all the time because if covid, felt safe, just followed all the rules.

As a family of 6(4 adults, 16yr and 9yr old) we found Sunnybrae to be the perfect base for a visit to Whitby and the surrounding areas.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The kitchen is modern and has everything you need, Bedrooms are comfortable our 9yr old used the put up bed and found it to be just as comfortable as any other bed and there's plenty of wardrobe space in all 3. The bathroom is big and the shower is very good(decent water pressure) we had plenty of towels provided for our stay. The cottage is one of around 14/15 properties sharing parking space for approx 18 vehicles and during our stay we always found a space for our van. We had a brilliant weekend at Sunnybrae and would not hesitate booking a break there again.

It felt even better than expected from seeing the site pictures once we arrived there, and what a lovely place to walk into after our journey.

Loved all the facilities in the house and thought it such a welcoming place. The scenery was stunning looking around outside and immediately felt we were on a real holiday, ready to explore the area. Had a really good chance being in this location to go for plenty of walks along the cinder path and elsewhere, and to get to know Whitby, plus get a taste for North Yorkshire in general. It was great going on the steam train on the North York Moors Railway, and being by the river Esk it afforded us the excitement of seeing the trains go past. Loved every minute of our time there have to say. Thumbs up.

Good basic accommodation within a 20 minute walk of Whitby.

Great setting and a bonus to have parking. In winter months would need to use a car as the footpaths are not lit up and there are no pavements on the final stretch of narrow winding road to the development. Would stay there again In the summer.

An extremely clean and well furnished property on the outskirts of Whitby.

Quiet location on a holiday complex with three separate areas of properties. Everything we required for a restful week, parking wifi fully equipped kitchen and walking from the door.

Fabulous apartment had everything we needed for our 5 day stay.

If you want to walk it’s about 25 minutes into town or a taxi is around £6 if you aren’t there in bank holiday season. Perfect base for visiting Whitby and surrounding areas. Parking is sometimes an issue at busy times.

Superb holiday, very relaxing and stress free, Riverside View is situated in an idyllic spot, lovely views the Esk valley, Viaduct and of the Railway line where Steam trains travel along into Whitby.

There is also a nice walk into Whitby which is approximately a mile and a half distance along the Viaduct and cinder path. We couldn't recommend this place enough, its fab, also centrally placed for all neighbouring places to visit. 10/10. We will be back. The Website pictures doesn't do the property justice.

The property was immaculate, beautifully furnished and very comfortable indeed.

I was given a "welcome pack" consisting of tea,coffee, bread, milk and biscuits which I thought was a beautiful touch. The location of the cottage was perfect and so very quiet too to allow a relaxing break in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.Perfect for walking and relaxing .
