Lovely. Thanks
Mr Dapp
No issues whatsoever with the property. Very well cleaned and prepared for our stay. Everything was as one would hope it should be so the property allowed us to enjoy a welcome break in Sandsend. Top marks.
Mr Kilgallon
Good comfy cottage. Great location but worth mentioning it is up a hill as some visitors may find that difficult to walk. Cottage was clean and beds very comfortable with nice bed linen and towels provided. Had a little difficulty getting the shower to provide hot water, we managed in the end but it maybe worth leaving instructions to save water wastage. A great holiday cottage in a fantastic location…thank you!
Mr Wesson
This was a perfect cottage for us in a fabulous location. We loved staying here and the very pretty garden was a real bonus. Torn between keeping this place a secret for ourselves or recommending it to others, we will be back! Many thanks, Chris and Helen
Mrs Fells

Ms Utting
We stayed at Rigg Cottage over the Easter weekend 2022. A family of 4 with 2 dogs we needed somewhere dog friendly. The cottage was clean and tidy on arrival, with everything we needed for the weekend. The living room was cosy and well laid out, and the dining room / kitchen had everything you needed to be home from home. There was sufficient space also for our 2 dog crates after turning the dining table 90°. Outside space was fine for an enclosed garden, with a clothes horse under the stairs for outside drying and out house where we found the outside freezer (not used) and a couple of body boards the kids had a session on at the beach. The front bedroom was quite spacious even with a double and a single in there, the back room with the double I’d say was a little cosy but not an issue. The bathroom was well presented and the bath / shower were fine. The shower you had to gently adjust to get a fine line between too hot and cold, but once mastered no issue. Nothing I haven’t experienced before in hotels. Great to have the off-road parking too, that really helps. Location was perfect, literally 100 yards from the beach and very close to the pub and seafood restaurant which were both spot on. There’s a small shop around the bay, just check opening times. All in all we loved it and would have no hesitations in staying again. If I had to highlight and feedback for improvements I’d say I was a little nervous of the back fence and the potential for this to be jumped - not that my dogs did. Other than that I’ve really nothing negative to add. Thanks for a great stay!
Mr Surgey
Very comfy cottage and great for a stay in Sandsend. The cottage is just a minute walk from Sandsend which is a lovely quiet seaside village. Drive to whitby is only 10mins. We had everything we needed for a family stay away, overall would certainly recommend.
Mr Chapman
We really enjoyed the cottage and it's location was great as it was quiet and the parking made it easy. The beds were really comfortable and clean. It would have been helpful to have a small saucepan and a frying pan though we did find a frying pan in the bin so assume that the previous occupiers put it there. We will book again
Ms Platts
Lovely little cottage, cosy with everything we needed. Very close to the beach too. Would book again.
Mr Stack
We arrived at 4 pm and as take over was 5 walked around the area at 5 we went to the house and a car was in the drive. Someone was lying on the couch watching tv this was the cleaner who was not expecting anyone. She became very upset and said it would not take her long. I gave her an hour but at 6 she was still cleaning She was very emotional about her personal situation and I had to be kind to stop her being so upset We eventually took over at 7 ish My daughter had contacted Sykes already I have not had any contact today with a rep You obviously don’t note serious complaints or you don’t care It’s not how I expect my first night of a stay to go Unlikely that I will use Sykes again due to poor customer care
Mrs Wood
Front of property upon arrival boded for what was inside, mopleft at front of property all week. Bedrooms good, shower very hot or cold, difficult to work. No instructions re appliances. Lounge furniture needs upgrading. Kitchen, flooring coming up, drains smell awful in the kitchen, we could not clear it. Only cottage I have visited where I did not want to actually cook. Cottage could do will a good bottoming (cleaning that it). Overpriced. Shame great location. Pictures of cottage don't reflect actuality.
Mrs Hart
The cottage was smaller and more worn than we expected. It was quite hard work with a golden retriever as we were constantly stepping over her. it would be very hard work with 5 people in the house. The kitchen is not really big enough to cater for 5. The fridge is small. The photos suggest it is quiet smart when in fact it is tired and in need of a coat of paint. We also saw the building to the rear on google sat view and called to query what it was before booking. We were told it was nothing to worry about and not used. It is a house effectively in the back garden and lived in full time. We would not have booked had we know. We also called to find out if there was a hair dryer in the premises and were told not. There was, suggesting a lack of knowledge of the property. The sea view from the lounge is totally blocked when you park the car on the small parking area at the front. The best thing about this cottage was the location. Sandsend is a lovely village with good cafe and pubs. having the beach at the bottom of the road was great. We would say the cottage was slightly below average and not worth the cost.
Ms Plumb
We always love it here and look forward to booking again very soon. Thank you for our guest pack!
Ousey Family
The cottage is very well equipped although I could not seem to find an ice cube tray for my G&T! The cottage was very clean overall. Rigg Cottage has been a haven of calm and comfort after the Christmas festivities. It's location, equipment and decor are excellent. Far enough off the main road to be quiet but near to the beach, walks and pub to be ideal. So glad we booked it.
Livesey Party
The cottage and location were wonderful as was the welcome bag of goodies awaiting our arrival. Thank you very much. We particularly enjoyed the Bridge Cottage Bistro at Sandsend. The cottage had everything we needed for an excellent week away. A very relaxing holiday.

We enjoyed our stay, the cottage was lovely, warm and cosy, and we found staff to be helpful, especially over the fact that our friends left their dog baskets there! We enjoyed the Welcome Pack, which was very generous. We would definitely book through you again. Best wishes, Paula.
