The property

Sheen Cottage is a large property located in Fylingthorpe, a small village on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.

Set over three floors and with beautiful views, Sheen Cottage can sleep up to ten guests, making it an ideal base for your next group adventure to the North Yorkshire coast, just a short driveaway from the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough.

You are greeted to the property by a traditional hallway, where there is a kitchen/diner to your left, allowing the dedicated chef to whip up a home cooked meal to enjoy round the spacious dining table in an adjoining dining room, or enjoy breakfast around the smaller dining table in the kitchen area.

There is a sitting room where an open fire takes centre stage as guests enjoy a night in front of the television, and to complete the ground floor there is a utility room with a handy washing machine and tumble dryer, and extra freezer space.

Moving up to the first floor, there are armchairs on the landing to enjoy some reading space as you look out into the beautiful countryside views, as well as a stunning king-size room with four-poster bed, an idyllic dressing table and a feature fireplace, adding to the traditional theme of the property.

Moving through the cottage, there are two well-decorated twin rooms both with a splash of colour and storage space to make guests feel at home.

To finish the first-floor, guests are blessed with two spacious bathrooms, both with showers, and a separate WC, so hopefully each guest can get ready, for a long day ahead, in their own style and at their own pace.

As you climb to the second floor, there is another lovely landing space with chairs to enjoy, as well as a further king-size room with a wooden cot and great views of the countryside, and another colourful twin room, allowing for flexible sleeping arrangements throughout.

Outside there is roadside parking, and a large enclosed garden with both lawn and patio so the children and pets can play whilst the adults drink the evenings away.

The small town of Fylingthorpe is set away from the coastline and has a shop for any essentials, a pub serving food and drink with outdoor seating, and a horse riding centre, it is also based in The North York Moors, meaning there is great walking and cycling routes in the area, as well as the opportunity to take a steam train ride to discover some of Yorkshire’s finest scenery, such as the beautiful Esk Valley and the famous village of Goathland.

Robin Hood's Bay is just a short walk away, and is an old fishing village popular for its narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages, which make it known as one of the most picturesque villages on the English coastline, it boasts great pubs and eateries for an evening out, as well as coastal walking routes, sea views and the National Trust's Boatman's Loft.

The lively seaside resort of Whitby is just a short drive away and is home to a stunning beach with an idyllic lighthouse, as well as a Captain Cook memorial, two museums, a vertical shaft from the cliff top leading to a long pedestrian tunnel out to the beach known as Whitby Cliff Lift, colourful beach huts, donkey rides, and walk up 199 stone steps for views of the harbour, town and sea, and the breathtaking Abbey.

In the opposite direction, discover Scarborough with it's water park, amusement park, SEA LIFE aquarium, open air theatre, lovely gardens, great shops, bars and eateries, a sandy beach and seaside rides on the 19th century Scarborough North Bay Railway.

For a perfect holiday that everyone will enjoy, choose Sheen Cottage as your base.
