“We loved Castle View from the moment we arrived.”
The owner was great with communication, help and advice prior to arrival. The house was clean and tidy and was like home from home. The landscaping of the gardens were lovely. Managed to have a couple of coffees outside on the decked area. The position was perfect for visiting pubs and restaurants in Helmsley, and a short walk to the open air pool. The owner was great with communication, help and advice prior to arrival. The house was clean and tidy and was like home from home. The landscaping of the gardens were lovely. Managed to have a couple of coffees outside on the decked area. The position was perfect for visiting pubs and restaurants in Helmsley, and a short walk to the open air pool. Our dog loved his time there. We used the supplied covers (great idea even though we brought our own from home) on the furniture. Luckily, being a Cockapoo, there were no dog hairs to clean up as he doesn’t shed. As the week progressed, we used the supplied hoover and brush to clean up (as you would at home). Beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean. Plenty of storage for your clothes. We particularly like the boot room (entrance hall?) at the front of the property. We used the supplied charcoal BBQ. Kitchen utensils were plentiful. Only suggestion here is maybe a few more juice glasses, as we found we quickly ran out or had to wash them by hand rather than put them in the dishwasher. There were 6 of us, all adults. Everyone spoke highly of the property. If visiting the region again, would definitely like to book again. Thank you for a great week!

Helmsley is a wonderful place to visit with plenty of things to do and see, so Castle View is well placed for this. Helen is so friendly and available if you need to ask anything while you’re staying there. We will definitely be returning and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.

. we had 3 generations (plus 2 small dogs ) and it works perfectly, the downstairs bedroom/ bathroom is especially great for my elderly mother . The places is spotlessly clean , with comfy beds and lots of seating options both in and out . Helen the owner is very friendly & helpful too .

The cottage is extremely well equipped, warm, inviting and comfortable. The location is a very short walk to the square in Helmsley. It was lovely to meet Helen the owner of the property, her reassurance that if we had any issues with the property, we could contact her - no contact was necessary. We had a great holiday and would certain return to Castle View.

It was one of the few pet permitted places we have stayed that is genuinely pet friendly! It was exceptionally clean with lots of nice extra touches, and no skimping on the heating! Everything was well thought out, and all needs catered for. The owner Helen was lovely, and very attentive. We had a fantastic time and would love to return in the future. A little gem in a beautiful location.

The home was ideal for the four of us on our art holiday We particularly enjoyed the garden which had a lovely seating area where we were lucky to enjoy dining alfresco ! Beautiful garden and decked seating area. The location was great, only a minutes walk from Helmsley centre, with lots to do in the area. Excellent for dog walking as there are walks and footpaths on your doorstep. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Castle View.

The house was clean and comfortable and so spacious, I didn't want to leave it. Location is perfect, Helmsley is a popular place to visit, so to be a couple of mins walk to the market square with your own parking space is wonderful. House instructions are clear, lots of helpful info in the welcome pack, also the owner is so welcoming, she sent the welcome pack early in case I wanted to make restaurant reservations as I was travelling during a busy time. I'd love to go back!

Comfortable cottage with all you need. Helpful owner who was just a phone call away but luckily not needed. We enjoyed a great family holiday with all we needed on our doorstep, just a short walk away from the outdoor swimming pool which was great. Lots of walks and very dog friendly.

We were a group of six and a dog and the house was so spacious with everything thought off and very cosy too…we had an open fire most nights. The house was in excellent order and immaculate. We had a wonderful holiday and had the most amazing weather, we LOVED the outdoor village swimming pool!! Helmsley is lucky to have such a wonderful asset. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and suited out needs perfectly as the ground floor bedroom and shower room was ideal for elderly parents. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and felt very homely. The lovely garden was great for a family bbq and we enjoyed looking out on to it from the fantastic conservatory. We will definitely return to this property as we had such a lovely time exploring North Yorkshire. Thank you for everything, we can tell a lot of thought, care and attention has gone into this holiday home.

It is a spacious, comfortable, well cared for home with a high standard of furnishings, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The garden is so pretty and has a lovely deck area. It is a two minute walk into the town and we highly recommend the deli and bakers. The Walled Garden is a beautiful place to visit too. We felt very much at home and enjoyed the house and surrounding area immensely.

The house is so very cosy, homely, it has absolutely everything you could wish for & even though we couldn't enjoy sitting out in the garden this time it was great to enjoy it from the lovely conservatory. The house is ideally situated, no need to take groceries, lovely delis, bakeries, greengrocers, co op etc on the doorstep. Great walks from the house, lovely gentle walks in Duncombe Park which we very much enjoyed, even in the rain it was beautuful...finished off with a pint at the Helmsley Brewery..delightful! I can honestly say our stays at Castle View leave such warm happy memories for all my family, hearing my elderly parents say daily how much they are enjoying their stay, how comfortable they are at Castle View...(I think they would move in if they could!) means the world. Thank you Mr & Mrs Reed for sharing your little bit of heaven! We look forward to our next visit very much.

I know the area well and chose it for my seventieth birthday with a luncheon at the Wheelhouse of the Star Inn in Harome, Andrew Pern's Michelin star restaurant .Our accommodation was very comfortable and warm with my 4 year old granddaughter wishing she could stay there for ever ! They loved playing with the toys in the house. Castle View is ideally situated close to the market square, very secluded with attractive gardens and an area for BBQ 's. There is also a new Italian restaurant in the centre of town where the pizzas are the best I have ever tasted and definitely worth a visit . We had an excursion Piglets Homestead with a tractor ride around the farm , a large barn play area and mini tractors for the children to ride on; with opportunities to feed the animals and see the new born piglets and lambs.Should you wish to spend a day in York, it's best to use the park and ride there's lots of museums catering for all ages , as well as York Minister and if you are not from the North then a visit to Betty's for lunch or afternoon tea. We look forward to returning to Castle View The location is fabulous

All modern facilities whilst remaining a period cottage. With bed rooms upstairs and downstairs it suits all sorts of family groups. Situated in a direct, but out of the way, 2minute walk for easy access to Helmsley market square. We've been staying in North Yorkshire cottages for 28yrs now. This cottage is comfortably top of the table in all aspects.

We can't speak highly enough of Castle View which was comfortable, spacious, very well equipped and in immaculate condition. All "mod cons" were of the highest quality and the furniture was comfortable and tasteful. The kitchen was also well equipped and there was lots of storage space in the bedrooms. A real home from home.

The bunk bedroom with all the toys is fantastic for children and the garden was great for our 3 year old grandson to play in. Overall the house was very comfortable and well equipped. The conservatory and decking area of the garden would be particularly valued in summer.

Easy access to the village centre which is approximately 2 minutes walk and has several nice pubs and restaurants. Very quiet location with the park (swings/football goal/swimming pool) being 2 minutes walk from it.

Walk into town for milk in just a minute, and walk to the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey in just an hour. Playground just a short walk away for the young children. Also, great relief to have the toys/legos in a rental, gave us downtime without always resorting to a movie. A short and easy one hour drive to York or the coast. Definitely leave a day in your plans to just hang out at home! Heated floors and the sun room were the biggest hit with us. Will return again.

Castle View is a beautiful house with quality fittings and we all loved it. My mother has to use a wheelchair and was perfectly comfortable in the ground floor bedroom. We cannot praise our holiday home enough and will definitely be back.

Lovely garden and conservatory. Very peaceful enjoyed watching the blackbirds in the garden . Underfloor heating in the kitchen lovely. The children loved all the games, toys and books to play with. I spoke to the owners beforehand who were very helpful and I was delighted my three-year-old son had a large range of toys to play with. He would happily have stayed playing with them! Only two minutes walk to the market square with its good range of shops, deli's and places to eat. There are lots of lovely walks that can be started from the cottage, in particular the Cleveland Way to Rievaulx Abbey; also there's a walk up the lane at the back of the cottage through Ashdale. There's plenty of tourist information in the cottage and the owner was extremely helpful. Helmsley is very central and there are lots of exciting places to visit. The welcome pack and fresh flowers were a delight to find in the kitchen when we arrived.

It is clean, very well equipped and the underfloor heating was a great bonus. There were books, games/toys and videos also for our use. When we arrived there was bread, butter, tea, milk and biscuits left for us, which was a very nice touch. Quiet and lovely but also a convenient location for local services. We really hope to visit again.

! Group of 10 adults stayed here for a wedding in the 'Black Swan' 2 mins away. Plenty of space for all of us. Everything was thought of down to having milk and bread there when we arrived to having the fire ready to light. (which we really liked seeing as it was snowing when we arrived). It was spotless also and finished to a very high standard. We all loved the kitchen especially the table, it was really nice to all be able to sit down to breakfast together. Castle View is also very close to Hemsley Village which looks like it belongs on a postcard. Lovely town with loads of nice little shops and pubs. We all really enjoyed our stay here and could not fault anything with it. So much so that we're hoping to return in the summer as we really loved the garden space and could not use it due to the below freezing weather.
