    “Property in need of updating, redecorating and minor repairs.”

    Coat hooks coming off walls, bathroom looks tired, had to clean crumbs off kitchen surfaces on arrival as I have Coeliac disease and need to avoid cross contamination. Back yard unattractive, chairs outside severely rusted, glass ramekin left on table containing cigarette butt. Overpriced for what it is. Location however is lovely.

Situated in a picturesque part of the North York Moors National Park and a scenic drive away from the coast is this barn conversion, Crabtree Cottage.

This all-ground-floor holiday accommodation is the perfect cottage for a romantic getaway, to explore the best of Yorkshire’s coast and countryside, whatever the weather!

Soak up your rural surroundings before making your way into the contemporary cottage, boasting a welcoming open-plan living area.

The kitchen comes equipped to cater a delicious local delicacy, as well as plenty of space to pack a picnic for the next day’s day at the beach.

Settle down with your meal at the sleek breakfast bar to spend quality time with your loved one before relaxing into your evening within the sitting area.

Flick on the electric fire and tune into the TV, or get lost within a good book, whilst the exposed beams frame the room and fill the room with a sense of character.

Concluding the interior is a spacious double bedroom, with plenty of room for you to prepare for the day and to store your holiday things.

Of an evening, you and your partner can choose to while away a couple of hours in the private hot tub or open up a bottle of something fizzy and relax on the provided to chairs whilst gazing up to the stars.

If you can tear yourself away from this quaint, secluded spot, head to the nearby village of Scalby, where you will be delighted to find a number of pubs, shops and a café, as well as a weekly farmer’s market.

For a day at the coast, be sure to visit the popular resort town of Scarborough, where you will find a superb selection of attractions to suit all tastes, including the SEA LIFE Centre, the Japanese-style park and gardens of Peasholm Park and for a taste of history there is Scarborough Castle, which overlooks the glorious beach.

Travel further afield to find pretty Robin Hood's Bay or a perhaps a day out in Whitby, home to the famous 199 steps which leads up to Whitby Abbey.

Alternatively, nearby North Riding Forest Park offers endearing forest walks with breath-taking scenery.

Surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful countryside, with thousands of hectares of moors and forest, it makes the perfect place to stay, with numerous public footpaths and the well-known Scalby Beck, which winds its way to the coast. A weekly farmers market is held in the grounds of St. Lawrence’s Church Rooms, selling local produce.
