Crabtree Cottage

Overall the accomodation was as described and presented within the listing.

Internally it was clean and inviting with adequate ammenities for a short stay. If you love a soft mattress this is for you. There is a 3 seater reclining sofa in the main living area which starts to get a little uncomfortable. The setting was lovely surrounded by fields of sheep and horses, though there is a long chalky and bumpy track leading from the main road to the farm/cottage which for low vehicles may be an issue. This is a working farm and whilst this wasnt an issue in respect of noise the owners dogs roam freely and come up to the door of the cottage. We had a young Guide Dog puppy with us and had to scan the area before entering and leaving and if caught out caused a bit of distress. The owner was amenable in calling them away if needed. The hot tub was a nice touch within an enclosed, private courtyard which could do with a good sweep and jet wash to rid it of the build up of ground moss and maybe 2 new garden chairs to make the area more appealing to sit in. The cottage is well placed for travelling to nearby spots such as Scarborough, Boggle Hole, Robin Hoods Bay etc. We found a couple of wooded walks for the dog close by as we didnt want to risk disturbing the sheep on the farm. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend the cottage for a short stay.

Property OK, but overpriced for what it is.

Shower cubical lovely, and large enough to be useful, unlike the usual "phone box " found in holiday lets. Hot tub beautiful, but spoilt by the shabby surroundings. The number of dogs running about (on one occasion I counted five) at all times day and night, was intimidating to our dog who has a timid nature. i accept that it is their home, but for paying guests there ought to be a fenced-off area. In conclusion, We did not find this property ideal, and will not return.

Property in need of updating, redecorating and minor repairs.

Coat hooks coming off walls, bathroom looks tired, had to clean crumbs off kitchen surfaces on arrival as I have Coeliac disease and need to avoid cross contamination. Back yard unattractive, chairs outside severely rusted, glass ramekin left on table containing cigarette butt. Overpriced for what it is. Location however is lovely.

Great cottage in great surroundings Access to the coastal towns and the North Yorkshire moors very easy.

W ould reccommend a visit to the North Yorkshire moors railway for a great day out The hot tub is a welcome bonus after a long day out

We found Crabtree Cottage to be in a peaceful, rural setting, which benefits from stunning rolling countryside views yet conveniently located just 10 minutes from a large supermarket with excellent access to Scarborough, Whitby, and Robin Hood’s Bay.

The cottage is well-equipped throughout, featuring a high-spec kitchen with everything you could need and a comfortable living space with a Smart TV and very good Wifi. The bedroom is particularly spacious, offering ample storage and a large, comfortable bed. The bathroom has a generously sized shower and excellent water pressure. The bathroom would benefit from a lick of paint, rather than patch work repairs - however for property owners to do this we understand it means reducing the availability of the property for these works to be carried out and we felt that the current appearance of the property was reflected in the price paid. The outside courtyard is extremely private and not overlooked. The covered hot tub is in excellent condition, with powerful jets and an impressive lighting system. A minor criticism would be that the hot tub area could benefit from additional lighting, particularly under the covered area and a more accessible way for less able guests to remove and replace the hot tub lid. Being situated on a working farm, there is a typical rocky/bumpy access road to the property. Despite this, we were never disturbed by farm operations, staff, or animals, though it was reassuring to know help was nearby if needed. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was affordable and had everything we needed. We look forward to returning to Crabtree Cottage as we still have more of the surrounding area to explore.

Our stay in Crabtree Cottage was absolutely great.

Rural - to the point of remote! - location, on a working farm, with super friendly dogs. Lovely walks from the doorstep. The cottage is comfortable, warm (we went in Feb), clean and very well equipped. Only thing perhaps to note is that access is via a very long bumpy lane - essential to drive slowly!

What a lovely cottage to stay in, very spacious, large bedroom, living/kitchen area comfortable and pleasant, ample parking, everything you need is in the cottage including washing machine and dishwasher, we were here in November, heating keeps the cottage nice and warm, it's about a 10 minute drive into Scarborough, with Whitby being about half an hour, the hosts are both pleasant and helpful, we loved it here, Thanks

This cottage is on a working farm (I heard occasional tractor/machine noises, but on the whole it was very quiet) which feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, but is only actually a ten minute drive to civilisation, so you get the best of both worlds.

The owners (lovely people) were around on the property doing day to day things, so are there if you need them, but they absolutely left me to do my own thing. I arrived to find that a pint of milk and a packet of biscuits were waiting for me, which was a nice bonus! The hot tub was hot and ready for me to jump in. The cottage was lovely and clean (although there were a couple of tiny bits that I could point out if I was being picky - mould in the shower seal and cobwebs in corners), the bed was nice and comfortable, and the kitchen had everything that I needed. I would certainly be happy to recommend Crabtree Cottage, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if I was looking to stay in the area.

The cottage is lovely, and the surrounding views are amazing, and it was a pleasure to see the animals, especially the sheep and pheasants.

We enjoyed our stay and, like others, loved the hot tub in the evening. We felt some things could do with replacing, for example, the cushions and the rug in the lounge. The shower head needs repair or replacing as the water comes out in all directions. The mattress on the bed was much too soft for us, though this is a personal choice. The main thing for us, however, was how long the road was to the cottage, from the main road. It is very uneven, full of loose stones, dusty, and not even great for a tall suv.

Lovely peaceful cottage and the surrounding areas are beautiful places to visit.

The property itself was lovely, we had no contact with the owner they didn't come to check if everything was ok.

The heating was controlled by the owner and only came on certain times of the day, which some days it was really cold. There was no information about what to do with the food waste and no bin for it.

We only had a couple of nights here but it was a lovely place plenty big enough for both of us, well stocked and clean, could of stayed for a lot longer no problem and will look to stay again in the future if the opportunity arises

An excellent well laid out and well equipped cottage.

Spacious and airy with comfort endured. As soon as we walked in it was RELAX! Great to curl up with our Kindle’s prepare a quick meal and the icing on the cake was the hot tub ooh! Comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep meant we were ready to head out for the day. Excellent!

It was a pleasure to stay there.

The hot tub wasn't ready the first night but was great next day, had the company of a couple of swallows when we were in it. The only problem we had was the mattress was too soft and springy for us but that's personal opinion. All in all a perfect week Thank you x

We had a great 3 day break at Crabtree cottage.

The cottage was clean and spacious and had all the little extras needed such as coffee teabags sugar salt etc. A nice touch was biscuits and milk left by owners . The bed was very comfortable which is important and the hot tub great after a day of walking around Scarborough Whitby and Robin hoods bay. We also enjoyed sitting having a coffee looking at the sheep in the nearby field. All in all a great place for a relaxing break.

Definitely what we needed. Could do with a doormat by the back door for when you come in from the hot tub and a bread knife, other than that we had what we needed. We would love to return as it’s a good base for all the wonderful North Yorkshire walks.

Great location for visiting local attractions of Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. Very peaceful, clean and spacious property. Has everything you need for a break away.

Little hidden gems

Excellent cottage.

Everything you could want and need. Fully equipped kitchen with full size fridge freezer. Well situated for visiting nearby seaside towns as well as an abundance of walking opportunities. Definitely on the cards for a return visit. One minor point (although have to stress it did not spoil our enjoyment) would be the hot tub cover was very hard to remove and stand up against the fence.

Crabtree Cottage is a lovely place for a weekend away in Yorkshire.

The place was clean, comfy and relaxing, and the hot tub was great in an evening. I would recommend staying here for couples. My only criticism is the road leading up to the cottage. It is a nearly 1 mile stretch of a private road that is unfortunately full of potholes and bumps, as the cottage is located on a farm. It's not very suitable for cars and could do with being resurfaced. Otherwise, the place was fantastic.

A relaxing break in a beautiful cottage.

Great cottage, very nice throughout, like home from home.

Modern oven easily cook all week if needed, full size fridge/freezer, Clean modern and tidy. Great location off the beaten track in the countryside, so no traffic noises etc, slept like a log all week. Hot tub great to relax in with a beer after a day out. Scarborough and Whitby within easy access for fun days out. Lots of walking available if you have a dog and on that note beware there are sheep and horses outside the front door so keep your dog under close control and on a lead. Will definitely be booking again, great place to stay and relax.

Overall the cottage was beautiful and very comfortable and great to come back to after a long day.

The location was perfect for our requirements very peaceful and wonderful walks right outside the front door and then just a 10 minute car journey to Scarborough. Hot tub was wonderful although could do with being presented a little better ie canopy/ surroundings and courtyard could do with a spruce up. A shaver / toothbrush point would be helpful in the bathroom. Think the track leading to the cottage should be mentioned as a bit of a bumpy ride, but having said that I would visit again and would highly recommend.

The cottage is quiet out of the way in the middle of nowhere if this something you like. Very clean and well equiped cottage. Very comfortable and lovely hot tub. Very thankful they let us stay an extra night. Only thing i would suggest is a comfier seating area outside for when its sunny. Will definitely recommend.

Absolutely stunning cottage set in some lovely surroundings.

Only 4 miles from Scarborough but you’d think you were in the middle of nowhere it’s that quiet and peaceful. The cottage is kitted out with really good quality utensils, bedding and furniture. The hot tub is spacious and really lovely to chill in at the end of the day. We had an amazing time and will defo be booking again.

Loved the facilities, open plan kitchen and living room was fantastic, jacuzzi topped it all off, Only one concern was when the the over head shower was on the drain over flowed .

The cottage was clean, comfy and very spacious. The views and scenery were just beautiful, so peaceful and relaxing. Added bonus of having the use of the hot tub especially after being out walking. Location is good too, we visited Scarborough, Dalby Forest, Bridestones NT site. Thankfully the weather was bright and sunny so made the stay even more enjoyable. We had a small issue with the TV not working correctly, which Chris fixed for us quickly. All in all, a fab stay in a beautiful location. Friendly owners with 2x lovely dogs running around. The cottage itself is beautiful.

Very clean and comfortable and so well equipped. Little touches such as milk waiting in the fridge and the treat of biscuits, tea and coffee on arrival were lovely. The cottage provides a wonderful hot tub, which we didn't get to try due to our own physical ability, but it is there as another wonderful extra touch. There is a long, bumpy, farm track to leading up to the property , but this is a working farm, and as long as you are aware of the access, not a problem. We enjoyed our stay and found our hosts friendly, welcoming and helpful .

This is the second time we have stayed at Crabtree and like the first time we found it lovely and relaxing.

It is close to both off Scarborough's beaches and peasholm park plus within easy reach of Whitby & Robinhoods bay and in the other direction Filey and it's beaches.

Lovely converted barn in a very quiet surround.

It has been done to a very good spec. Had a relaxing comfortable stay and would recommend. Little added touches of furnishings, games and books was fab. For us it was great, i would of liked an additional blanket or throw and maybe some larger towels. The only thing i would consider to advise people is the road to the cottage although well maintained is a long way on stones. You need to be able to either drive up this road or walk it to get to nearby walks.

For the 2 of us plus the dog the cottage was lovely and well positioned for everywhere we wanted to go and visit.

The kitchen and living room was spacious with everything you need, the bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom had the best shower. Was a real treat having the hot tub after being out all day. Couldn’t fault it at all and would definitely stay ago if in the area.

The cottage is lovely and very well appointed the owners of the cottage live on site as it is a working farm and they are a lovely couple very friendly and we felt really at home here. When we go back to the area again, we would definitely book this cottage. We wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else. if you’re looking for a lovely quiet place to stay, I can highly recommend crab cottage. I don’t think anyone could fault it.

Such a pretty, clean cottage but long dirt track to farm was in need of maintenance.

It was also a working farm with sheep so was unable to walk our dog very far. The mattress on bed was not fit for purpose neither was the uncomfortable settee. Both had seen better days. We abandoned our holiday after two nights and came home. Left in disappointment with aches and pains. Spoke to Sykes sales team but outcome was disappointing as property owners weren’t bothered.

Very clean. Facilities all that you need. And the extra essentials eg milk dishwasher tablets and cakes even salt and pepper were a great extra. They let us use the field which was lovely for the dogs morning and evening stroll. Very quiet and relaxing location.

The cottage was quaint and very nice.

Just as shown on the pictures but a bit too rural for me . The track down to the property is not the best and your car will be covered in dust as was mine. Be careful of the hot tub lid as the space around it is very private but the lid isn’t like one I’ve seen before and it almost fell onto my partner’s head as we sat in it. Not far away from Scarborough which was a bonus.

Absolutely beautiful cottage and the location was perfect!

The view is unreal and hot tub was great. The whole stay was absolutely brilliant it was everything it was advertised as and more. The owners left us with milk in the fridge and welcome muffins along with all the essentials tea/ coffee etc. Kitchen was very well equipped. I would say that If you visit with a dog who may be reactive to other dogs to be extremely careful as over the course of the 3 day stay we had 7 different dogs off the lead outside the cottage- this is to be expected as is on a farm however did put us slightly on edge as our dog is reactive but we had no issues just double checked no dogs around before we let him out. All round fab stay.

Crabtree Cottage is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay.

The cottage is very spacious and clean with an open-plan living room and fully equipped kitchen. We travelled as a couple and had a fantastic time, especially with the bonus of the hot tub! Loved watching the sheep and lambs in the field outside and the owners are friendly and welcoming. It's close to both Scarborough and Whitby with lots of little hidden gems round about. We would definitely stay again! Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cottage was lovely well appointed and close to walks and the coast.

Hot tub was a bonus. The only thing which let it down was the mattress we found it very uncomfortable and struggled to sleep on it, other than that it was perfect.

Beautiful cottage spacious but no table or chairs to sit outside the road down to the cottage is appalling very rough no instructions on how to use cooker shower although very good slow to drain away settee too low needs replacing feels like kids have jumped all over it you sink into it not comfy to sit in no support nice gesture from owners though leaving milk n bread for you a bit disappointed to be honest in my stay came home on 3rd day

The inside was done to such a great standard and was so homely. The location was fab, a short drive to Scalby which was lovely with a nice pub and cafe. We loved our stay, it was perfect for our first family trip away after having baby Nelly in September. Loved it and will be definitely be back!

Whilst the Cottage and surroundings were lovely it needs a good overhaul regarding storage and cleaniness.

Every cupboard,draw was filled up with paint. Brushes. Christmas decorations. Fire blanket was under the sink instead of the wall. No sign of any appliance having been PAT tested. The TV has a large white spot on the screen making watching difficult. Information pack was minimal. Mattress has come to the end of its life as very creaky and lumpy. A little more attention to detail would make this cottage wonderful.

Fantastic place to stay. Everything in the cottage was too a very high standard, the best in our opinion that we have ever stayed in.The position was ideal for those who like the peace and quiet, all be it the sheep were in the field opposite. There was a welcome pack, and the owners couldn’t have been more helpful, we thoroughly recommend Crabtree Cottage, we had a great ,relaxing time, and our dog was in his element on the farm. The location was perfect for walking and cycling from the door . Everyone we met on the farm was very friendly and welcoming and it was such a peaceful setting. The cottage is one of the best equipped ones we have stayed in, the owners have designed it well and the hot tub is an excellent addition. So, definitely five stars from us for a great holiday.

We returned home feeling very refreshed and relaxed. The setting is very peaceful and in a great location for visiting the nearby coastal towns. The cottage itself was immaculately clean warm and very comfortable. The hot tub was the best hot tub we have encountered and we've been on many hot tub cottage holidays. Judy gave us a warm welcome, explained where to find her if needed. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends.

Very clean and well equipped everything you need. The hot tub is amazing we used it every day. Owners very friendly and lovely scenery. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage has everything you need for your stay, amazing views, fab hot tub for when we had been out on long walks. Can’t wait to return!

So much to do and see, and most places within 30 minutes drive. Locals are very friendly. Loved our break just wish it was longer. Would definitely have this on our list to go back to. Owners are very welcoming x

What a lovely break!

Cottage is spot on! Cosy and very homely! The owner greeted us on arrival and left bread, milk and muffins on arrival! Lovely touch! Facilities are fab! Great shower, lovely fireplace and all kitchen appliances, dishwasher, hob, washing machine, etc. Internet streams well for Netflix etc. Views are amazing and love the private patio with the hot tub. The cottage is within 3 miles of a great pub, book in advance though as they are so busy! Would defiantly go back again!

Overall great place to stay, only a couple of niggles, no private place to sit in the sun, and no sharp knifes.

The only downside for us was the lack of a secure grassed area for our puppy.

There is a secure yard. The people and farm dogs were lovely but maybe it was our fault but a busy and inquisitive pup needs a little space to roam and play in a secure area with no access to the fields of farm animals. The cottage is lovely, the setting is beautiful, the people are welcoming and friendly. We were very disappointed to have to leave slightly early as my wife needed medical assistance and it wasn’t possible (covid) to use the local practice. We had a lovely time and if we felt more comfortable with the provision for our pet we wouldn’t hesitate to go back again. The hot tub is amazing. The spacious cottage is superb and so many woodland and beach walks for dogs

We had a lovely weeks stay at Crabtree cottage.

Stunning location with easy links to many great places to visit. Good communication and check in. We loved the hottub. The only thing we feel could be improved, as mentioned previously, is better storage for clothes in bedroom - we used our suitcases predominantly! We would definitely recommend this cottage.

It would have been useful to have had somewhere indoors to dry washing or rainwear.

The bedroom furniture, apart from the bed, did not function well.

Crabtree Cottage is a beautiful place to stay.

The cottage it’s self if spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable. The views from the cottage are fabulous, looking out over miles of beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. The hot tub was fabulous and was brilliant after a day of exploring the local areas. The family who own the the cottage are lovely and friendly and are not intrusive. We had a lovely time and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Great walks from the door in a lovely setting in the middle of stunning scenery.

Ideally situated for Scarborough, Robinhoods Bay & surrounding area. Daisies tea rooms at Scalby is a lovely walk from the door and good value for money. The hot tub was great for relaxing in after a days walk will definitely be visiting again.

The experience of staying on a.

Farm was great. The animals ,people were all very friendly. The hosts provided milk and other essentials on arrival. Very clean and well appointed. The hot tub was hot ,spacious and private.

A beautiful little place in a great spot overlooking the country side.

The place was very clean and comfortable making it the perfect base for our break. We enjoyed several walks close by and trips to a few different beaches within a short drive. The owners were very friendly and helpful, making for a great week away. Hoping to revisit again in the future!

Our stay at Crabtree cottage was great just what we needed.

the only problem was the long trek into the farm which was a bit bumpy but we got used to it after a couple of days, met some of the family on the farm and really friendly, the cottage was the best we have stayed at and we have been to many, hot tub brilliant overall a fantastic place to stay.

Easy to find using google maps, the decor was really nice and modern. The cottage was very clean and especially with the current climate we felt safe. The owners were very welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and in fact wished we had booked longer than 3 nights. Would recommend and we will definitely be returning.
