Lovely cottage, full of all those little details that make life easier that you probably wouldn't think to bring with you - especially in the kitchen.

Ideally situated for access to the NYM Railway - can see the trains pass from the living room window during the day but they are never intrusive. A most comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Had a wonderful stay in Beck Cottage.

The accommodation is clean and tidy and well laid out. It’s ideally located for all the amenities of Pickering. Would happily stay here again.

This is a wonderful holiday cottage, with an enviable position next to the NYMR.

It's spotlessly clean and comfortable - everything you could wish for has been thought of, with Bill and Yvonne (the owners) easily contactable in case of difficulties. Pickering is a lovely location, full of independent shops and eateries. We will definitely be returning to Beck Cottage.

Beck Cottage is simply lovely.

This was our second stay and just as good as the first. Communication about car parking and collecting the key was very clear and made the arrival process really easy. The welcome pack of tea, milk and sweet treats was very nice. The attention to detail and thoughtful touches provded by the owners make staying here a real pleasure. It's nice to visit a holiday cottage with good quality kitchen knives. In fact all the kitchen equipment is top quality. The location of the cottage is excellent - close to the centre of Pickering and of course perfect if you like to watch the steam trains pulling in and out of the station. My wife and I both heartily recommend Beck Cottage should you want to holiday in this beautiful part of Yorkshire. We will definitely return for a third visit.

Beck cottage is a wonderful place to stay, everything is absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean,the beds are super comfy,the whole cottage is absolutely perfect, you have the steam trains just across the road, Pickering high street with wonderful shops,the outside is wonderful also with the little birds to sit and watch, also the wonderful neighbours next door who are very nice,me and my husband won't go anywhere else,we have booked for next year,and also hopefully in November for my husband's 60 birthday,I didn't want to come home that's how beautiful beck cottage is,and also the cake was beautiful and the chocolates and wine and the card for our anniversary that's how wonderful the owners are,I would highly recommend beck cottage it should be more than 5 stars it should be 100 stars , looking forward to coming back xxxxxx

Beck Cottage was an ideal base for visiting the Yorkshire, ideally located close to the town and excellent view of the trains running on the NYMR, which our son loved.

Beck Cottage is an absolute delight, and proved to be everything we'd hoped for, and more besides.

The owners had kindly left a welcome gift, but, in addition, had also thoughtfully provided tea/coffee/milk. Thoughtful has been the owners' watchword here, with the anticipation and the provision of everything you might possibly need during your stay. The Cottage is ideally situated, tastefully decorated, really well equipped, immaculately clean and very comfortable - one of the best holiday cottages, if not the best, that we've ever stayed in. Beck Cottage is a real gem.

Location is spot on as it's literally a 4 minute walk into Pickering. The cottage has everything you could wish for and more. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

The cottage was comfortable, very clean, well furnished and equipped with absolutely everything we could possibly need during our stay. The photographs and description of the cottage are excellent but, if anything, we felt that the cottage was more spacious than we expected. Its location is ideal, in terms of easy walking distance from the lovely little town of Pickering, spectacular views of the steam trains, and well placed for visits to the North Yorkshire moors and the coast. Contact with the owners in respect of access to the cottage was friendly and helpful and we would not hesitate in recommending Beck Cottage for your holiday.

Very clear Day 1 instructions including where the key is & where to park; lovely welcome pack; comprehensive information booklet; very well fitted out & furnished cottage; quiet & very comfortable, with only a 5 minute walk into Pickering town centre.

A very cosy cottage.

All amenities catered for. Even down to torches in the bedrooms in case of power cut. The stairs very steep. I had hip surgery 11th December so I struggled a bit. However 2 handrails helped me a lot. Also 2 steep steps to front door. We used back door during our stay. I would recommend this cottage to family and friends in future.

It is furnished to a high quality and maintained really well. It is equipped to a very high standard and spotlessly clean. Would recommend.

Beck Cottage is one of the nicest cottages we've stayed in - wonderfully comfortable and well-equipped, with lots of thoughtful little touches.

(We particularly appreciated the owners telling us in advance that they were providing some milk!) The location is fantastic - just opposite the North Yorkshire Moors Railway with a view of the trains from the windows, and an excellent base for trips by train or by car.

Beck Cottage retains its historic charms whilst providing all the comforts of a modern home.

The kitchen was up-to-date and well equipped; the living room very comfortable with the added benefit of a wood burner (very useful during the cold snap we had over New Year 2025); and the bedrooms comfortable. The Christmas decorations kept the festive spirit going a bit longer! We were left a welcome gift by the owner of a home made lemon drizzle cake, chocolates and a bottle of fizz (the cake was delicious - thank you!). The cottage was ideally placed for the steam train; we took the trip to Whitby one day and no car journey was required! It was an easy walk into town for provisions. I would highly recommend. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

Our fourth stay in Beck cottage, the owners are very helpful providing access information and availability times and a great welcome pack which is much appreciated.

The cottage is always spotless and has everything you need with lot's of additional touches especially the Christmas decorations for our stay. A lovely characterful cottage providing accommodation to a very high standard, perfectly maintained and scrupulously clean.

The owners seem to have thought of everything, from a welcome pack of cake, chocolates, tea, coffee and milk, through to extra birdseed for our feathered friends using the feeders outside the kitchen window. Beck Cottage has a great location, only a short level walk to the pubs, restaurants and shops in Pickering, and with the added bonus of a great view of the steam trains running into and out of the station. During our week we managed to squeeze in two days out on the railway, visits to Helmsley, Whitby, Thornton-le-Dale and Scarborough, and took in a Pickering FC home game. There's so much to do and see in the area that a week is never enough. We were sad when it was time to leave Beck Cottage and would gladly return anytime.

Me and my husband absolutely love beck cottage,it's home from home, everything about it is special, spotlessly clean , finishing touches,but my favourite is sitting outdoors and watching the birds, also the neighbours are lovely,I just cannot praise this cottage enough,no other cottage like it ,we didn't want to come home, booked for next year again,wish it was next week that's how much we like it xxxx

The property was as described, well appointed, oozing character and in a very convenient position, just a short walk into the town and overlooking the NYM railway. Without repeating all the positive comments from previous guests, I was particularly impressed with the attention to detail and the many thoughtful touches throughout, including the welcome pack and the best ever lemon drizzle cake. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Pickering is a delightful town with all the amenities we required and. are only a few minutes walk away from the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend to family and friends.

We are big train enthusiasts and this place couldn't have been more perfect. The place had an amazing view of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, but the cottage itself was also really charming and a lovely place to stay. Great location and the cottage had everything we needed :) Will definitely be staying here again when visiting North Yorkshire.

When you can imagine living in a holiday cottage, then the owners have clearly done something right!

Fantastic location with the heritage steam train to the front and Pickering Castle to the back, plus being easily walkable into Pickering. The cottage had great attention to detail, from the coat hooks in the bedroom to the resources onsite. Toasty warm in this cold weather and easily accessible instructions about equipment. A lot of thought has gone into the cottage and the owners kindly notified us that we could access it early. Amazing lemon drizzle cake, and everything you would need for a cuppa on arrival. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed at, - Thank you!

Beck Cottage is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in.

The owners have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.They have also supplied good quality fittings including radiators and a new updated kitchen.Everything in the cottage is good quality and it really shows.

Great location for exploring with plenty of things relatively local to keep our 6 year old son busy and of course you can't beat the sight and sound of the steam trains passing by. The cottage is kept exceptionally clean and well appointed and the welcome pack is a great touch. The owners are very accomodating too as they changed their plans for us so we could book an extra night so we could take the boy on the NYMR Light Spectacular and their communication and care is top rate. Certainly hope to come back again!

Beck Cottage is lovely.

It has everything you could wish for for a comfortable and relaxing break. The location is superb - overlooking the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and only a short walk into Pickering centre. The parking arrangement works well too. As well as being a nice place, Pickering is an ideal base from which to explore north Yorkshire.

Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location.

Beck Cottage was pristine inside and very comfortable with lovely beds and sofas. Everything you could possibly need was included, even things you wouldn't think of such as binoculars and torches, along with some lovely welcome gifts too. Beck Cottage is directly opposite a little level crossing just before the station at Pickering and we could watch the steam trains going past from the bedroom and lounge windows. It is just a few minutes walk into Pickering itself, and Pickering Castle is just behind the cottage and you can see it from the pretty little back patio. We will certainly return to Beck Cottage, and would give it 10/10.

Lovely location with a good view of the level crossing just outside the NYMR station so we could watch the trains arrive & depart.

The cottage was roomy, comfortable & very well appointed. I take it as read that the knives in any holiday cottage will be blunt but not here! Sharp, quality, Sabatier knives so my sharpener stayed packed. Comfortable beds & bed linen, a good shower & thick towels; all indicative of the thought & care the owners have put in. The parking permit was an added bonus in a town where parking is both difficult & expensive even with a Blue Badge. We plan to return next year.

We have been to this cottage on five occasions now and each time the cottage has been immaculate and very well equipped, a real home from home, and well placed for access to the North Yorkshire Moors.

This is an amazing cottage, everything is thought about to the fine detail.

The setting is brilliant for access everywhere, from walks into town to country paths. Never slept so well on holiday the bed was comfy but the bedding was the best! Can’t wait to go again.

The location was great and we liked watching the trains from the lounge window.

Lovely welcome gifts which included home made cake. The owners had left the instructions for everything by each item, e.g. by oven, by TV, practical & helpful rather than having to find instructions in a folder. I liked that a mat had been provided for straighteners/tongs to cool down on, a small touch but again practical. No issues with the car park arrangements and a thoughtful card had been left with details of what work was being done next door & when. Basically we loved the cottage and had a great week

The cottage had everything you could could wish for.

It was extremely well maintained and all furnishings, towels and bedding were good quality. The location was lovely to see the Santa Special train going past from the front window and we enjoyed lots of walks around the castle at the back. I would recommend the cottage to anyone wishing to visit Pickering.

The cottage was as described on the website and was very spacious.

Very comfortable and clean with great views of the railway from the front window and the sight of Pickering castle from the back door. Great location for exploring out onto the moors, going to the coast or travelling into York. No issues with parking in the car park over the road (a permit is provided for one car) and we heard no noise from the renovations next door (the owners left us a welcome pack with a card explaining what work was being done and when there may possibly be any noise which was a thoughtful touch). The kitchen was really well equipped and clean and the log burner in the lounge is highly efficient (we would suggest turning the central heating down if you intend to use the fire as the radiators are very efficient at keeping the cottage warm!!). One of the best cottages we have stayed in - highly recommended!

It was spotlessly clean. The small extra touches, such as milk,tea etc were very much appreciated. The cottage is well placed for touring North Yorkshire and ideal for a railway enthusiast, with the NYMR on the doorstep. We would not hesitate to recommend the cottage to friends and family.

An excellently maintained and managed cottage with all the amenities you need.

A pity that the ongoing renovation next door made the outdoor seating area unusable due to the dust and grime. Pickering is an ideal location to explore the north Yorkshire moors and coast by car, on foot and in some parts by the NYMR train service. There's also a wide variety of good to excellent eating places in Pickering and it's surrounding areas.

Lovely to sit in the living room and watch the trains go by 50 metres away. Couldn't fault it. Many good pubs & eateries a short walk away.

We enjoyed our week at Beck cottage, can honestly say it is one of the best we have stayed in.

The level of cleanliness was superb, well equipped kitchen , nothing was left out. The bed was so comfy even the bedrooms and bathromm had little extras. Would definately stay here again, first class.

To be honest the cottage was pretty much perfect, and there was no activity on the building works during our stay.

The location was great and directions arrival and departure was easy. We loved the birds and the feeders, and the house really was spotless when we arrived. The massive bonus for was the NYMR, we became know the the station staff and some of the drivers. Had a fantastic time and did not want to leave, there was a couple minor improvements that could be made, but here doesn't seem fair to state them.

This has to be one of the best cottages we’ve ever stayed at.

The instructions for arrival were meticulous, as was the attention to detail within the cottage; there is even a butter knife! Beautifully decorated and very comfortable with a perfect location, within an easy walk of the town centre, but far enough away to be peaceful. I would definitely return!

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything you could need. Loved watching the steam train passing by from the lounge window and watching the array of birds from the kitchen window. Would love to return.

Wonderful cottage in Pickering perfectly located to walk to shops and resturants.

The highlight was the steam train which came past we wil never forget the beautiful sound of the engine and whistle. Then owner has thought of every detail and requirement in the cottage to make your stay a pleasant one. We will come back to Pickering and this is the place we would stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Beck cottage, it is very well equipped, clean and comfortable with lots of nice little thoughtful touches.

For example, magnifying mirrors and flexible lights to help when applying makeup, doing hair etc. The cottage is well placed to access all that Pickering and the surrounding area has to offer. We walked the town trail which we found in the cottage, it is worth doing as Pickering has some interesting history. The owners of the cottage were very pleasant and accommodating, helping us as much as they could, many thanks to them.

Beck cottage provides very lovely and homely holiday accommodation, the owners have put a great deal of thought into providing everything you could possibly need (and more) for your stay.

The rooms are spacious and have extremely comfortable sofas and beds and there is also a very well equipped kitchen with a dining table. There are lots of lovely touches throughout the cottage e.g fluffy towels. well placed mirrors and plenty of electrical sockets. and the owners have also provided lots of board games, and DVDs. Although the property doesn't have a garden there is a very cute outdoor seating space where you cans sit and watch the birds come down to feed from the well stocked bird feeders. The cottage is extremely well placed being only a short walk onto the high street where you can find lovely cafes, pubs serving food, independent food and gift shops, takeaways and a lovely Italian restaurant (Figaros). Lidl is also not too far from the cottage if you need a supermarket. If you enjoy walking it is ideal for lovely walks straight from the door and you don't have to travel too far to access the moors and the coast. And if you enjoy trains - it is directly opposite the NY Moors Steam Railway, sadly not operational during our stay (Opens April). All in all , a perfect cottage which we would definitely visit again.

Absolutely beautiful cottage , spotlessly clean I just loved everything about our stay , we haven't Heard any noise from house next door during building work none at all ,I love staying at beck cottage , also the treats , it's amazing watching birds in garden every bird you can think of , parking the car across the road is no problem ,I loved it that much I don't want to home I have never felt so at home so we will be coming back

Great location, comfortable, exceptionally clean. Excellent communication from the owners. Easy parking arrangement. We particularly enjoyed the small seating area in the courtyard at the back where we are our evening meals and watched the birds in the morning. Thank you.

We stayed at Beck Cottage over Christmas and were certainly not disappointed.

The cottage had been decorated for the festive season and was lovely and warm on our arrival. The location is perfect for walking in to Pickering, for the NYMR and to explore the surrounding areas. Everything has been thought of by the owners and nice to have the welcome pack including an amazing homemade cake. Probably one of the best cottages we've ever stayed at over the years.

Cottage is set in a beautiful village of Pickering which offered every amenity we required , the local fish and chip so serves the most delightful battered fish .

The local walks are very good my friends and I had a wonderful time exploring the nearby Dalby forest . All in all it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and is a place we will visit again .

Lots of places to visit nearby for all interests and ages. Attention to detail is brilliant in the cottage and it feels like home from the minute you arrive.

It's an exceptionally clean, cosy cottage in a peaceful location. A welcome pack was provided and the kitchen is really well equipped. A parking space is available just across the road. Pickering town centre is a short walk away. Sadly the steam trains were not running when we were there due to Covid.

Beck Cottage was immaculate, clean and comfortable.

Instructions had been left for just about everything which made life easier. There was a lovely welcome back including a delicious home made cake. Parking was just over the road opposite cottage and though the steam trains were off due to the current epidemic they were still running them every so often to test them out and you can watch them from the window. Pickering is a lovely town with plenty of shops, cafes, takeaways and pubs. Whitby, Scarborough and York are all just a short drive away and Flamingo land is only 20 minutes away. Overall a lovely stay at Beck Cottage and beautiful Yorkshire and will definitely return

This cottage is superb!

Probably one of the best we have stayed in. It was clean, warm and welcoming when we arrived. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was nice. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. The proximity to town is great. The view of the railway was so much fun, with us constantly dashing to the window to see what was coming past. I wanted to move into this cottage permanently! I definitely recommend Beck Cottage and would happily stay here again.

It was lovely that mr morris did a welcome pack with a homemade chocolate cake.

The cottage is opposite the steam railway it was lovely.The cottage was so cosy not far from pickering and all the quaint shops. There was everything you needed in the cottage you could have wanted if you wanted to cook . Bed was so comfortable even a washer /dryer so I did not have to do a load of washing when we got home . The cottage was immaculate yes there was the steep stairs but it was not a problem to us . There is a tiny garden which is well planted up you can sit out there . Cannot fault this cottage at all one of the very best we have been in . Will be coming back in 2021 . A well worth hoilday in a lovely cottage . Thank you to Mr morris and family

Excellent position, easy parking, 5 minute walk to town.

We loved the cottage and the closeness to the NYMR, a real must for train enthusiasts.

We all loved our trip to Whitby on the heritage railway, and on previous holidays enjoyed going to Goathland and exploring Heartbeat country.

The cottage was very comfortable and provided all the facilities we needed.

The location was good. Pickering is a delightful market town and is in a great position for exploring the North Yorkshire countryside and the coast. We enjoyed having views of the steam trains from the living room window each day and appreciated the discount vouchers for travelling on NYMR! Pickering has some great tea rooms and restaurants available. We would recommend Beck Cottage for anybody looking for a holiday in this region.

Since staying at Beck Cottage last year, the owners have made some changes (new carpets and decoration etc.

) making it even better. The cottage is warm, clean and cosy. As for the view well, if you're into steam trains couldn't be better; the cottage overlooks a level crossing and you can sit comfortably on the sofa and watch the trains go by. The town shops are a simple five minute walk away, with a market on Mondays. There are two supermarkets; Co-op and Lidl. The cottage is a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Moors and is easy driving distance from Scarborough and Whitby on the coast and Sutton Bank and Castle Howard further inland.

Couldn't recommend this cottage more, exceptionally clean with all the facilties you would need to enjoy a week away!

We were opposite the steam railway which was fascinating, if you're worried about it being noisy then don't be as it hardly made any difference at all. We headed up to Scarborough and Whitby through the North Yorkshire National Park, absolutely stunning, and then headed down the coast through some picturesque villages, Saltburn was beautiful with a long beach ideal for a long walk, travelled to York one day which was full of old beautiful buildings and of course York Minster, Castle Howard is also a must see! We were lucky to have the village to walk to if we needed anything and of course some lovely country pubs! Great place, great cottage, stunning scenery what more could you want

We have always been more than satisfied with accommodation provided by Sykes Cottages, in fact we have already booked again for next year.

This is an absolutely superb holiday cottage.

The whole was furnished, decorated and equipped to a very high standard indeed. We were warned about steep stairs, but Mr. Dawson, who suffers from arthritis, did not find them a problem at all! We would recommend this cottage to anyone. Quite excellent.

You can tell that this property is looked after and cleaned by the owners, not a management company, as the attention to detail made a big difference, and it was the best place we had stayed in Pickering.

The cottage was so lovely and the décor was beautiful. Right opposite the steam train crossing it was like being a child again! Pickering is a wonderful town with everything you need. So many castles, daffodils, walks, villages and seaside's. Sand looked so welcoming. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.

we have stayed in many cottages over the years and this was the best - everything exceeded our expectations - the furnishings and wonderful touches throughout couldn't fault it

We booked the cottage for a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as Pickering station is almost opposite the cottage.

The owners were very helpful when we had a problem with the WI FI. They arrived within the hour. With a call to the provider it was soon sorted. The cottage is very comfortable with all you require for a long or short stay. The wood burning stove adds to the comfort also there is a washing machine, dishwasher, gas cooker and microwave.

We had a fantastic week at Beck Cottage.

It was absolutely spotless, really cosy & stylish, well-equipped and full of all the little touches that make it a pleasure to stay in. We'd definitely stay there again!

Beck Cottage was a lovely place to stay.

We enjoyed it so much that we've already booked it again for the summer! It's an extremely comfortable house, both well equipped and warm. Pickering is within walking distance so it's easy to find restaurants and bars that don't require a driver. Next time we'll do the steam railway and the castle as both of these were closed for the winter.

I booked this cottage purely because it had been previously owned by my Grandmother from the late sixties to the early nineties and I have many fond memories of the cottage and Pickering itself.

I celebrated my sixtieth birthday at the cottage. The cottage has been much improved with the addition of new double glazed windows and a wood burning stove, although even on the coldest night in December, the gas central heating provided all the warmth required. The owners have made every effort to retain and enhance the "cottagey" feel with stripped internal doors. It really had the feeling of "home from home". The cottage is perfectly placed - opposite the NYMR - underneath the Castle - and within walking distance of the shops.

A great deal of thought and effort has been spent on this cottage.

It has good quality fixtures and fittings including a comfortable bed and high quality linen. Having a washing machine and fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, there was nothing that was missing, like home from home. There was nothing to fault at all. It was spotlessly clean and could be used as the "standard" for all Sykes Cottages. Many thanks to the owners.

Very clean and comfortable cottage - we were thrilled to be so close to the steam railway and the trains.

The small courtyard garden over looked by one of the towers of Pickering Castle was a haven for us and the local wildlife! Wesaw several species of butterfly, a robin and a tiny toad! We loved the cottage and it's location and would definitely book again. Many thanks to the owners for their attention to detail. The pint of milk in the fridge on arrival was most welcome!
