The property

Located on The Pines at Runswick Bay holiday park, which proudly sits in the centre of the picturesque village of Runswick Bay, is Seagull Lodge.

A stone's through from the lovely sandy beach, as well as resting within the dramatic scenery of the North York Moors National Park, this single-storey lodge is ideal for a small family or group wanting to enjoy the best of North Yorkshire's coast and countryside. Step inside the property to discover a contemporary, open-plan living space, filled with natural tones and adorned with two patio doors, allowing in plenty of light.

The well-equipped kitchen offers all of the appliances you could wish for during a self-catered stay, including an air fryer, while meals can be enjoyed together around the dining table, before rounding off a cosy evening in by relaxing on the sofa and finding a great film to watch on the TV.

During the warm summer evenings, slide the patio doors open and head onto the enclosed decking area for an alfresco dinner or an evening glass of wine as you enjoy a peaceful sunset.

Retire to the master bedroom to catch your rest; boasting a king-size double bed, a TV and a walk-in wardrobe for your belongings, this room also benefits from an immaculate en-suite shower room.

The twin bedroom would be ideal for children and benefits from access to the family bathroom; a contemporary wood-panelled room with the choice of a bath and shower over. Make the short walk to Runswick Bay's delightful sandy beach; this sheltered bay is surrounded by spectacular moorland scenery and backed by dramatic cliffs, which can be appreciated as you walk along the golden sand or join the iconic Cleveland Way, which takes you along the clifftop just above.

Venture into Staithes to peruse a host of charming shops and fantastic eateries, while its fantastic art gallery is a must visit.

Venture south along the coast towards the popular resort of Whitby and discover a wealth of attractions; climb the 199 steps towards Whitby Abbey and see the Gothic ruins up close, as well as being able to enjoy spectacular coastal views from the top. Head back down the steps and discover a network of cobbled streets, brimming with bars, pubs, eateries and gift shops, and don't forget to grab a portion of fish and chips to be enjoyed on the sandy beach in the fresh sea-salty air.

Hop on a boat tour out to sea to try and capture a glimpse of whales, known to frequent the area, and take a walk along the pier towards Whitby Harbour East Lighthouse for uninterrupted coastal views. Move south along the coast and you'll discover Robin Hood's Bay, home of the National Trust's Old Coastguard Station, as well as the iconic Victorian seaside resort of Scarborough, which offers two sandy beaches, an imposing castle, Alpamare UK waterpark, SEA LIFE Scarborough and the stunning Japanese-inspired Peasholm Park.

Create lasting memories with your loved ones at this wonderful coastal getaway.

About the location

RUNSWICK BAY

Staithes 2 miles; Whitby 9 miles; Saltburn-by-the-Sea 10 miles.

The historic fishing village of Runswick Bay is without doubt one of the true gems of the Yorkshire Coast, if not the whole of the UK. This picturesque SE-facing village situated 9 miles from Whitby sits in a beautiful sheltered sandy-beached bay backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery. Relatively un-commercialised and with vehicular traffic restricted, the village provides the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind. Relish in taking long walks on either the sandy beach or along the Cleveland Way on the clifftop above. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting Whitby with its famous Abbey, Staithes with its pretty shops, cafes and superb art gallery, or touring the dramatic North York Moors. The lower village houses a local inn serving food along with a spectacularly situated cafe, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides 2 inns, a fish and chip shop, a local butchers and a garage/petrol station. A Co-op is situated at Staithes 2 miles away.
