    Cleanliness, maintenance, facilities and the little extras such as the welcome pack, washing up liquid, washing and dishwasher tablets, condiments, tin foil and the list could go on. Entry into the property and the communication was excellent. The provision of a travel cot and bedding was welcomed as it was one less thing to transport. Great location a minute from a wonderful fish and chips cafe. A lovely countryside walk into Whitby with the dogs, a local shop ample country pubs . Secure back ...

Entry into the property and the communication was excellent. The provision of a travel cot and bedding was welcomed as it was one less thing to transport. Great location a minute from a wonderful fish and chips cafe. A lovely countryside walk into Whitby with the dogs, a local shop ample country pubs . Secure back yard for the dogs and even the provision of dog bowls and poo bags. The owners have obviously given thought into the smallest detail which shows. Parking for two cars on the drive. Two wonderfully appointed en suite bedrooms, one with a bath which baby Winslie appreciated on her first holiday. Informative information booklet in the house with instructions for all appliances and handy local trips and menus. This is a great base for a trip to Yorkshire near to train stations that serve the North Yorkshire Moors railway. We visited Goathlands station, where Harry Potter and other series had been filmed and were delighted to see the Flying Scotsman, which meant nothing to the kids, but I explained the history. In summary well done Martindale cottage. Just one really picky comment, the inclusion of the fuse box location in the welcome information would be useful as we had an outage whilst there. I did find it and it has probably never been mentioned before, but I’m sure these owners are always trying to hit the next rung on the ladder.

Martindale Cottage, a delightful, detached holiday home is nestled in the charming village of Sleights, North Yorkshire.

Perfect for families and friends, this cottage makes a superb base for exploring the beauty of the nearby North York Moors National Park.

Step inside Martindale Cottage and be greeted by the welcoming open-plan living space, featuring a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and a beautifully-presented sitting area.

This inviting space is perfect for socialising with loved ones around the dining table, watching a movie on the Smart TV, or simply relaxing on the sofa, after a long day of adventures.

Utilise the kitchen by preparing and enjoying some yummy meals as a family, before heading to bed.

As the evening grows darker, retreat to one of the three beautifully-appointed bedrooms for a restful night's sleep.

The first king-size bedroom boasts an en-suite with a bath and shower, while the second king-size bedroom offers an en-suite with a walk-in shower.

For added convenience, there is also a ground-floor twin bedroom and a separate ground-floor WC.

Outside, the enclosed rear garden provides a peaceful space, perfect for sitting around the fire pit in the warmer months.

Whitby 4 miles.

Sleights is ideal for both a coastal and country holiday. Just 4 miles from the picturesque Yorkshire coastline, it is also on the edge of the dramatic North Yorkshire moors country, littered with attractive villages and scenery, which is very popular with walkers and cyclists. Though quiet, Sleights boasts a pub, a fish and chip shop, an antique shop, a butcher's, a bakery, a hairdressers, a Post Office within a Spar shop. The North Yorkshire Steam Railway terminus is a few minutes’ drive with steam trains coming through Sleights, together with regular public transport to and from the nearby port of Whitby. Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire. It is an atmospheric town of winding streets and hidden alleys, with a picturesque harbour, safe sandy beaches and, of course, the abbey, reached by the famous 199 steps.
