    “From the moment of arrival and being greeted by the owners, this wonderful cottage was the perfect stay!”

    Cosy cottage, beautifully furnished, in an ideal position to explore the area and walk our dogs on many trails, dark sky area which allowed us to see the Northern Lights! The welcome pack of goodies was lovely touch, aswell as a starter pack for the fires (top ups are available at a minimal cost). We loved the fact the owners we nearby for any issues (no issues at all for us) and when we did bump into them, treated as friends. Dispite the cottage on the roadside, there was minimal noise which ...

The property

Hill Top is a quintessentially British semi-detached cottage that is situated in the village of Stonegrave, close to the town of Malton, Yorkshire.

This delightful home is the perfect place to come back to and unwind after a day of adventure with family or friends alike. The interior of this stunning cottage is full of character, and features a homely open-plan kitchen/diner/sitting area upon first stepping inside. From here, you can appreciate scenic countryside views from the window and find all your culinary amenities, including an electric oven, ceramic hob, a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, a stylish breakfast bar, and a small contemporary snug/lounge area with a TV and warming woodburner to snuggle up to.

Moving through the property, you'll be able to find a spacious separate sitting room with an additional woodburner, a bright and separate airy dining room with traditional wooden ceiling beam features, and a ground-floor cloakroom which includes a hand basin and WC.

Following from the back door in the dining room, a wonderful patio and outdoor seating area surrounded by a sand-stone cliff can be accessed, where you can sit and enjoy cooked meals or warm evenings with loved ones.

Climb the staircase to the first floor and you will find three homely bedrooms, two of which have vaulted beam ceilings for a traditional cottage feel.

Ideal for younger guests, the first of these is a twin bedroom, and a charming window seat for quiet time while appreciating the splendid countryside views.

The second bedroom has a double bed with courtyard views. Completing the first floor, there is an elegant king-sized bed in this room with views to the Minster and valley, ample storage space, a TV, and a contemporary en-suite shower room, including a walk-in shower, WC, and hand basin.

For those with leisure activities in mind, Stonegrave is in a perfect location nearby to the Ampleforth College Golf Club as well as a number of breathtaking locations such as the North York Moors National Park, and the Horwardian Hills, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Venture out to the quaint, nearby cycling city of York which offers a variety of attractions to entertain all the family, such as the famous National Railway Museum, the renowned JorvikViking Centre, York Minster Cathedral, Clifford's Tower, the medieval York City Walls, and scenic riverside walks and boat trips. Only an hour away by car is the lively seaside town of Whitby, perfect for the summer months.

Hill Top cottage is the perfect getaway ideal for families or friends wishing to experience quintessential Yorkshire and its remarkable landscape and destinations.

The pretty North Yorkshire village of Hovingham sits amidst the beautiful countryside of the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is a real gem, with a beck running down the high street, two excellent inns, a traditional village shop, a tea room and a bakery. There are excellent walking and cycling opportunities from the village itself, as well as easy access to the beautiful National Park. The stately home and gardens of Castle Howard are just 4 miles away, and the market towns of Malton and Helmsley are 8 miles away. Historic York and the attractions of the East Coast are further afield but well worth the trip!
