“Fantastic property, spotlessly clean and well equipped.”

The enclosed garden is perfect for dogs, our own dog loved it.

The property

Oak Tree Barn is an endearing, detached stone barn in a quiet cul-de-sac set in the chocolate box village of Thornton Le Dale, only 2 miles from the famous railway town of Pickering offering further eating, drinking, and shopping options.

Built to a high standard, the beautiful barn provides the perfect romantic retreat for couples or families wanting to explore both the nearby coastal towns of Whitby and Filey and the spectacular scenery of the North York Moors National Park.

Offering first-class accommodation, the barn is warm and inviting, retaining charm and character, with high pitched ceilings, exposed timbers, and stone walls.

The spacious sitting room has two large, coach house style windows with luxurious oak floors and doors; wonderfully furnished to a high standard, the barn has a lovely contemporary but homely feel and will be a pleasure to come back to after a day spent exploring.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all the appliances needed for a self-catered stay, where you can prepare meals and gather around the dining table.

Outside, is a sunny patio, whilst the private, enclosed, south facing garden provides plenty of space along with the shelter of the old oak tree where one can sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun set.

Three well-appointed bedrooms await, including two king-size, one which benefits from an en-suite, and a small double, all serviced by a bathroom.

Awaken to a morning coffee in the sunroom, featuring a lovely woodburning stove, before exploring the area.

Oak Tree Barn lies paces away from the centre of one of the most picturesque Yorkshire villages, with an array of interesting shops, tea rooms.

There are also two local inns, both serving food, fish and chip shop, pizza takeaway and the trendy “Hip and Square” bike shop that has a bar and outside space serving food.

From this base there are many nearby walks, both in the Forge Valley and Dalby Forest, which has numerous cycling tracks for all abilities; a short drive brings you to popular Scarborough, with its sandy beaches, restaurants, and shops.

There are numerous walks straight from the door, while the nearby bustling town of Pickering hosts the terminus of the famous North York Moors Steam Railway, which winds its way through heather clad moors to Grosmont and Whitby.

Malton, dubbed the food capital of the UK with its monthly food festivals, is easily accessible by car and other local attractions include Dalby Forest, with its biking and walking tracks, Duncombe Park, Castle Howard and the pretty market town of Helmsley.

With the seaside town of Whitby just a short drive and the spectacular scenery of the national park to discover, the well-placed Oak Tree Barn provides an excellent base any time of the year.
