“Absolutely beautiful property.”
A little hard to find. We ended up ringing the owner for directions as the satnav kept taking us somewhere different. The owner actually gave us a different postcode so not sure why this isn't on the booking details. Once we eventually found the property, we were delighted. So much love and care has been poured into this converted barn and it shows. Everything inside was of the highest quality. Great that it was all on one level. Lovely little extras such as a bottle of prosecco in the fridge with a little jug of milk, a packet of nice quality biscuits, 6 fresh eggs, lots of condiments in the cupboard, salt, pepper, sauce, vinegar, chutney, etc. 4 toilet rolls, kitchen roll. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery and utensils and has a dishwasher. There is a washing machine, drier, iron and ironong board in a storage cupboard near the bathroom. A beautiful, comfy lounge with a double sided log burner. Even logs, kindle etc are all provided, though we didn't need it as we were blessed with good weather. 2 luxurious bedrooms with the most comfortable beds and a gorgeous bathroom with 2 sinks, separate walk in shower and a freestanding bath. Plenty of lovely soft towels. The gardens front and rear are stunning. The back garden is just beautiful with an amazing backdrop. It's large with a 6 person patio set. We spent most of our time sat out here and watched an amazing sunset one evening. The WiFi is pretty poor as for some reason, the router is in the master bedroom right at the back of the barn so if you are in the kitchen, or even sometimes the living room, there was no Internet. We bought an extender and plugged it in the living room. There's not much around in the near vicinity and the only pub is derelict. Would have been nice to have just a little bit more nearby like a local shop, pub, restaurant. That being said, Thirsk is just under 5 miles away and is a lovely little town with a Lidl, Aldi and Tesco. We stocked up for the week and did little other than relax and chill. Apparently there are some lovely walks around but we were happy sitting in the garden or walking down the lane and back. Lots of wildlife plus the usual sheep, cows, horses and hens.
Overall a beautiful, serene, spacious cottage with all the home comforts, lush gardens, modern, clean and well cared for.
