The property

Whitby 1 mile.

A delightful, modern mid-terrace mews property in a small development, overlooking the River Esk and the Ruswarp Viaduct just over one mile walk from the centre of Whitby.

Perfect for families wanting to explore the North York Moors and seaside resorts, this Whitby cottage provides an ideal base.

With bright and comfortable accommodation, there is a contemporary living area with a spacious kitchen and dining area.

French doors open from the well-equipped kitchen onto a sunny, south-facing decked private patio.

On the first floor the double bedroom offers a decked balcony with fine views over towards the viaduct and River Esk where the steam train passes along the riverside.

Tastefully furnished and decorated, this lovely cottage has off road parking, whilst the communal grounds lead down to the river banks, where you are likely to see herons, ducks and the odd kingfisher.

Seals also regularly swim up this stretch of the tidal estuary.

There is also a private patio where you can sit and relax whilst planning your next day’s excursion.

Despite being only a 20 minute walk along the cinder track into the centre of Whitby, this is a tranquil spot and offers a peaceful environment after a busy day enjoying the bustle of the narrow, cobbled streets of Whitby.

There are many memorable cafes, restaurants and bistros and the holiday can be rounded off with a trip to the famous fish and chip shops which line the harbour.

Walk the extensive sands to Sandsend to the north or tackle the 199 steps up to the majestic abbey which towers above the town.

The more adventurous may opt for a fishing trip or you may care to try whale-watching in season as Minke whales are regularly sighted just off the coast.

The North York Moors are on the doorstep and the pretty coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay are a short drive away.

Scarborough and Saltburn are within easy reach and the more energetic guests will surely try stretches of the Cleveland Way which hugs the rugged coastline.

This cottage is perfectly placed to take full advantage of this ever-popular resort.
