The property

An attractive, mid-mews cottage, in a small complex of similar properties set by the banks of the River Esk, one mile from the popular fishing town of Whitby.

This bright and cheerful modern Whitby cottage has been tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard providing a very comfortable holiday home, with patio doors in the sitting room and an archway leading to a well-equipped kitchen/diner.

Boasting a delightful double bedroom, with access to a balcony overlooking the river, and with the benefit of a large sitting area, this bedroom can be adapted via sliding doors to provide two double bedrooms with a sprung mattress sofa bed.

There is also a single room with a pull-out bed to accommodate two further guests.

The outside balcony affords fine river views offering a lovely place to sit and watch the wildlife on the river, spotting the steam trains passing by, with communal lawned grounds outside leading down to the river, where seals, swans and ducks are regular visitors!

The property also has use of a boat ramp.

Although conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle, Whitby centre is just a short walk from the cottage, great for exploring the quaint cobbled streets, taking strolls on the beaches, or paying a visit to the famous abbey and sampling the many bars and restaurants.

For those of an adventurous disposition, there is the cinder track along the route of the former Whitby to Scarborough Railway to Robin Hoods Bay, a flat six-mile walk with wonderful coastal views and cosy pub stops.

The surrounding area has a wealth of attractions, including the stunning scenery of the North York Moors, tearooms in pretty coastal villages, and trips on the steam train to Pickering stopping in Heartbeat country.

Heron's Reach is a delightful cottage, offering a great base for exploring the scenic splendour of Yorkshire.
