Sea Change

Sea Change has many positives going for it.

The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. There are plenty of towels and a good range and selection of kitchen ware. The location is good, just a couple of miles from Whitby, Sandsend beach and the North York Moors. There are plenty of dogs walks in the surrounding area. The park and ride to Whitby is just a mile away and a great way to get into Whitby and economical compared to parking charges in Whitby. The not so good - Many reviews claim the property is spotlessly clean but we found multiple dog hairs around the place. Perhaps unsurprising given dogs are allowed, but not very pleasant so we had to do a full vacuum in all rooms to feel comfortable. The electric shower is definitely not working properly. A previous review said the water was not hot and the owners said they didn't turn on the electric supply properly. This is not correct. We have the same electric shower and it produces good hot water. The Sea Change electric shower provides lukewarm water at best on full heating and max temperature setting, so obviously something is wrong. The fridge doesn't seem to be functioning as efficiently, since the milk and cream we had didn't seem very cold and went off quicker than usual. All in all the positives for Sea Change cottage outweigh the negatives, but the owners should look at sorting out the issues I've raised.

Large house, spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen.

Back garden, enclosed, rather small but nice places to sit at the side of the house. Garage for the car. Quiet village close to the park and ride into Whitby. Close to Sandsend (5mins) for the beach and promenade.

2nd time at this property, and thankfully the weather was 100% better.

Superb location, and can't fault anything about sea change. Can't wait to book again....highly recommend

Clean, comfy, well equipped, great shower, quiet location not too far from Whitby and Sandsend.

The garage was a bonus for our paddleboard storage. Would love to return some day. Thank you for a successful stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Sea Change in Whitby.

The house was lovely, comfortable, and really well‑equipped. The walks to Sandsend and Whitby were fantastic, and the location made it easy to explore other places along the coast. We’d definitely stay again.

This is a lovely place to stay away from the madness of the town.

The garden has seats on all three sides. The garage is large. The house is comfortable and roomy. Highly recommended. Note- there is no longer a pub in the village. The only bus service to Whitby is the Park and Ride by the roundabout, from Easter onwards.

We had a wonderful stay.

We would definitely come back and recommend to friends and family. Kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. One addition we would add is a high chair for families. Thanks again for all the help in getting us out of the snow. Best, Jess

Lovely roomy property big comfy sofas and nice enclosed garden for our furbaby only negative i can think of is tv has to be watched through wifi has no aerial and we are used to watching through normal channels but this wouldn't stop us booking again

Our second visit to this property and we weren’t disappointed.

Ideal location for visiting various villages up and down the coast plus of course Sandsend and Whitby. The property was clean and tidy with enclosed garden which was perfect for our dog. The house was lovely and warm with comfy sofas and bed. We appreciated the welcome pack, a nice gesture. As the weather was good for November we managed the walk from the cottage to Sandsend which we hadn’t done before, which was very pleasant. All in all a great stay.

This is the second time we have stayed at the cottage.

It's just right for a family of 4, a bit more of a squeeze for 6, with only 1 bathroom, as we noticed on our last stay. The cottage is well presented and clean, and perfectly located for Sandsend and Whitby.

Had a lovely stay here - was close to the beaches, Whitby, Runswick, Sandsend.

Ideal for our dog with an enclosed garden. Had all the facilities we needed, great wi-fi for streaming in the evenings, clean. We didnt use the log fire but imagine that would be a great addition for when it drops cold and dark. Only feedback would be the shower/hot water situation was not always ideal (but it could be down to user error given the hot water tank!) Overall we would 100% be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at sea change.

It was very well equipped that so we didn't really need to bring anything.It was very comfortable and cosy and the enclosed garden was perfect for our dog.We found it very clean too and the cake and beverages(tea,coffee,milk) was a really nice touch,we will definitely be stopping here again.Thankyou.

We arrived to the cottage which was well presented extremely clean and spotless in every area .

It was well equipped and there was plenty of room in all rooms . The outside space was also beautiful with well attended to gardens and chilling areas on all sides of the cottage . The area was really quiet and and calm environment with lovely views from the rooms . The cottage was a good location for getting to Whitby , Sandsend , Staithes, Runswick Bay , Robin Hoods Bay , Ravenscar , Pickering , Scarborough plus many more locations within driving distance . We really loved our stay at Sea - Change and would love to return soon .

Sea Change gave us the best of both worlds, quiet location but only a short distance from the coast, Sandsend and Whitby.

A great area for walking with our dog, Sandsend beach was atmospheric with fabulous sunsets; exploring the ruined castle in Mulgarve Woods and Mallyan Spout Waterfall. It was evident the owners take a pride in both their property and the comfort of users, with everything we needed for our stay, short of a plug for the bath; garage was a bonus. A great base and lots still to explore in the area.

Plentiful supply of towels/T-Towels and kitchen items (ie dishwasher tablets/clingfilm )Comfortable beds and good sized bathroom.

There is a lack of storage space in the kitchen to store food items aside from the boiler cupboard which is too warm to store items safely. Also a lack of oven proof dishes/serving dishes etc should you wish to prepare meals (there is no pub or restaurant in the village). The garden is small but secure and divided into distinct sections with chairs and tables-ideal for warmer months. The garage is an added bonus given that there are no proper parking facilities. If you have more than one car be prepared to have to bump it up onto a fairly steep bank. Given that it was October and therefore not so many vehicles there was room on opposite bank for second car. Despite house being close to the Park and Ride and the Stables Restaurant (approx 1.5 miles) the lack of a footpath or public transport from village means that walking is a little dangerous on a single track road to get to the Park and Ride so it is safer to drive ! There is a decent walk to Sandsend from the village which is up and down through woods and fields with some pleasant views .Be prepared to take a decent footpath map/App as there is a lack of signage along the route. We would consider staying again at Sea Change during spring/autumn months when it is quieter given the issue of parking .

Very well situated close to dog friendly beach at Sandsend and Whitby. Very impressed with the use of this garage. Lovely enclosed garden. Hope to visit again

Lovely location.

I run my own cleaning business and I thought it was only surface clean the top of the fridge was dirty. I also didn't think it was good having the pots in the boiler cupboard as they smelt and tasted funny. Good do with a new frying pan as handle wasn't safe .But we had a great time and slept well and would go back. Thank you.

Very nice house that was well supplied in kitchen & upstairs lots of good towels.

We were relieved to find the garage belonged to the house given the cramped parking on the lane. The only house improvement we would suggest is a stair gate to stop guest dogs going upstairs,our dog is not allowed in our bedroom at home & we had to close other bedroom doors to keep her out

Sea change was perfect!

The location was just what we wanted, quiet but not far from Sandsend and Whitby. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. All rooms were beautifully presented and very comfortable. We will definitely consider returning for another stay, thank you

We had a lovely break in Sea Change.

We’ve came to see Goth Festival but also to have some time to relax and this house is perfect for this. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and fantastic wi-fi. Garden is secured and dogs are safe to roam around. Very close to a beach and shops. Lots of sight seeing and places to visit. This house was just perfect for us.

Lovely house in quiet location which was perfect for our week away.

Kitchen was fully equipped, house was warm and comfortable. Garden was fully enclosed for our dog so didn't have to worry about letting him outside. Thank you to the owners who came round with battery powered lights after we contacted them when the village suffered a power cut which ended up lasting nearly 6 hours. Weather was lovely and we had some great walks from the house and surrounding areas. Overall a great week away

Quiet location. Very convenient for Sandsend, Whitby and access to the moors. The park-and-ride is a 1 minute drive away from the cottage and was still operating in October; it was an inexpensive way to get into Whitby and saved parking stress. Lovely walks in the area. The house is spacious, comfortable and well equipped with lovely garden areas. The garage was really useful too. Communication with the hosts was easy and there are good instructions in the house for all the appliances. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

It was perfect for us.

Just a short hop to the beach, nice and quiet. A handy walk just down the road for our dog. The neighbour did get our dog barking as he was in the front garden a lot, but we tried to keep her as quiet as possible. Handy for Whitby and the bays. Would highly recommend we had a great stay.

Another excellent holiday at this quiet, well located property.

We were also very lucky with the weather as the sun shone every day. It was lovely to be able to sit outside for breakfast and after dinner in the peace and quiet. Looking forward to another stay next year which will be our fourth at this wonderful cottage.

A delightful cottage spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for our family.

The kitchen had everything we needed and the garden was especially appreciated by our little dog who enjoyed wandering out of one door and in the other. The village is peaceful and well placed for getting to Sandsend and Whitby all in all an excellent holiday spot.

Great house in an amazing location.

We had everything we needed and our dog loved the enclosed garden. We were only about 15/20 minutes drive away from all the places we wanted to visit, including Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. The beach at Sandsend is only a 15 minute walk and you can take dogs. We definitely recommend eating at The Heart Inn, Sandsend, the food is amazing and the staff there are very welcoming

The house was great, very comfy everything we needed, good location lots of places to visit near by , will definitely go back .

Very comfortable stay in a small village.

The cottage was spotlessly clean with great countryside views to the front and rear. It is a very light and airy house. Quiet area; slept soundly. Very well equipped. Nice touches like hand-made curtains/cushions. Dog-friendly garden filled with attractive foliage. Great to come back and relax in front of log burner after exploring local areas. Would definitely rebook.

Most windows blown so view compromised.

No blind in kitchen window making it unbearable when in their cooking evening meal as sun blazes in. Only 7 pegs for a family of 6. The rug in lounge is a trip hazard as so thin and has no sticky backing for laminate flooring. The vacuum cleaner was absolutely full of other people’s dirt and dust (not nice). Inside cupboards dirty. One saucepan needs replacing.

Our family of 4 had a lovely few days here.

We loved our stay here, we've stayed in many holiday properties in this area and this is the best by far.

The village is very peaceful and an ideal base for exploring North Yorkshire. The property was perfect, well maintained, clean and very comfortable with plenty of entertainments (books, games, DVDs, smart TV & great wi-fi) in case of bad weather! The welcome pack was very much appreciated and it made a nice change to have a secure garden for the furry one to enjoy. Would definitely stay here again - thank you!!

A really beautiful home, perfect for our family.

The home was spotless when we arrived and we had the perfect holiday here. We didn’t want to leave. There was everything we needed already in the home, making our lives so much easier. It’s close to the beach which is where we spent many of our days and not far from lots of other beautiful places. We are already planning our next stay!

We had a lovely week in this cottage!

It was so clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable week. Such a lovely shady outside area and completely secure for our dog. It is in a gorgeous quiet village, very close to Whitby and also to the Whitby Park and Ride.

Property in an excellent position, 1 mile from park & ride into Whitby and for touring around the area.

firstly the website states that the nearest pub is o.

01miles away . after trying to go we found out that the pub had closed down in March this year & it was going to be a B&B . we then found out the nearest pub was2.5miles away with no public transport from the village i had to 1 get a taxi both ways or 2 take the car, What else is strange is that 2 this date Sykes still have this pub on its page. Apart from that the cottage was really nice .

A great property with everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

The garden is lovely and secure for pets which is a real bonus as my dog was able to roam freely, which she made the most of. The house is very well equipped and the furnishings are extremely comfortable. We appreciated that the location made for a peaceful stay with no traffic noise to disturb our sleep. Overall, a great property that I would be happy to recommend to friends and family

The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. It’s situation is very handy for Whitby, and for exploring North Yorkshire Coast and Moors. The house is down a very quiet road and has a great tea room in the village. We hope to stay again soon.

What a fab cottage,had everything you could want,right down to poo bags and dog chews.

A very lovely holiday property in the village of Newholm 3 miles to the centre of Whitby and 2 miles from Sands End.
