The White Cottage

This was our 4th visit to the White cottage.

We were met by Lizzie and Peggy. The flowers and welcome pack was very much appreciated. The cottage was very clean and welcoming. It is a credit to Lizzie and Peggy.

Lovely old cottage in a beautiful and peaceful setting with ample parking Owners very welcoming and a nice welcome pack given Our only suggestion would be a new mattress for the double bed as I found it very uncomfortable and had to sleep in one of the twin beds in another room.

We have had a most lovely stay at The White Cottage.

Very roomy cottage full of old world charm. Lizzy and her mother Peggy where very welcoming. Lots of information and books on the local area. Very quiet and peaceful village. A great place to stay for a really relaxing holiday and Bridlington only 3 miles away.

A very cosy, comfortable cottage, with a delightful peaceful garden.

We really appreciated all the extra touches like the welcome goodies, chocolates & the vases of beautiful fresh flowers.

This is our third visit to the White Cottage and it will not be the last.

Lizzie was present when we arrived and it was like old friends meeting. Cottage very clean with comfortable seating and bed. The weather was a bonus and Peggy looked in on us making sure we were alright after a storm. The welcome pack was appreciated. There are still places we need to visit but I would recommend Inghams fish and chip restaurant in Filey and The Bosville Arms in Ruddon for Sunday lunch.

The White Cottage is a lovely old cottage with loads of nice features.

It's very quiet and lovely to hear all the birdsong. The cottage was spotless, comfy and Lizzy and mum Peggy made us feel very welcome. Flowers and welcome pack very nice and loads of info leaflets - thanks. Easy to get to the coast and York, lots of good birdwatching at Bempton. Scampston Hall and Gardens really good and their cafe is excellent. Jacksons for take away fish and chips in Bridlington also excellent as is the Georgian Tearoom in the Old Town. Thanks Lizzy and Peggy for a smashing week.

Lovely old cottage, lovely original features, ever so peaceful and quiet, beautiful front garden especially when then sun was out,Perfect spot to travel to resorts on the coast, and lizzy and her mum Peggy couldn't do enough for us,lovely people.

Lovely comfortable cottage in a peaceful location, but still close enough to everything you might need in Bridlington.

Beautiful quiet and picturesque we had a marvelous stay here

We had the most relaxing week in one of the best cottages we have stayed in set in the beautiful rolling Yorkshire Wolds.

The place was spotless, homely and filled with thoughtful touches throughout and we can't recommend highly enough.

The property was warm,clean and very comfortable.

It was in a quiet area with walks yet easy to get to the better known areas for shopping and sightseeing. The owner was lovely and very helpful.

A very pleasant cottage in a quite and peaceful village with very little passing traffic.

Nice garden and sitting area for warmer days. Although the cottage is kept to be true to it`s period there are all the modern conveniences that you would expect. Every thing was clean and well kept. Lizzy And Peggy were very helpful and welcoming. The location is excellent for North & East Yorkshire seaside outings and also inland for the Wolds.

We were greeted by a lovely welcome pack and fresh flowers to this clean, comfortable cottage.

The furniture and furnishings were all in keeping with the period of the cottage and was like stepping into a Jane Austin novel whilst having all modern amenities. Lizzy and mum Peggy were extremely obliging. We have already booked another week later this year.

Very welcoming on arrival as was the welcome pack, very good location as was all info provided, Would stay again at White Cottage, and recommend to others.

Everything about this place was superb - the cottage, the owners, the village and the general location.

The attention to detail was excellent, and the place was spotlessly clean throughout. Some really good local information and lovely welcome items provided, and it was all so well organised by Lizzy who looks after the place herself. It became like a home which was hard to leave at the end of the week.

Been with Sykes more than once always quick & easy online, takes the pressure off & makes it fun cos that's what taking a holiday is about.

The usual warm welcome - and welcome pack - from owner Lizzie and we were lucky to have an Indian summer in November, enjoying sunny walks by the sea at Filey, Bempton and Flamborough. The cottage was nice and warm, comfortable as ever. We hope to return.

Clean and tidy. Location was brilliant, nice and quiet. Lizzy the owner was very attentive and very helpful, and her mum. Had a lovely time and yes we would definitely go back.

Beautiful historic cottage with everything you could possibly need to make a holiday perfect, exceptionally clean and well maintained cottage.

Very friendly and helpful owners, perfect location just 3 miles from Bridlington made this the perfect central location for a very nice holiday exploring East Yorkshire. Hope to return to the White Cottage in the near future for more holidays in lovely Yorkshire.

The house was in a lovely rural position.

Close to since really nice beaches and countryside.

This is a lovely cottage with a beautiful garden in a small quiet village with no through traffic on the road outside.

The cottage is decorated to a very high standard - including fresh flower arrangements, it is also spotlessly clean. Although it was the end June we put the heating on but didn't use the log burner, its an old building with thick walls which don't warm up very quickly so I suggest that you pack an extra jumper. The bed was comfortable for us - but we aren't very tall. The wi-fi was fine, but the phone signal (Virgin) was sometimes a bit hit and miss. The experience with Sykes was OK but even after I had booked the cottage, I was still being sent emails suggesting that I should book it and we didn't need an email the day before departure telling us how to vacate the property - the house owner had left clear, simple instructions which were all we needed.

Another pleasant stay at White Cottage, our seventh since 2015 - would've been more without the pandemic.

As usual, Lizzie and Peggy were excellent hostesses. The cottage is very comfortable with all facilities we needed - even got wi-fi and Sky. We will be returning soon

The cottage was located in a quite country village which added to our enjoyment.

The cottage is an ideal base for coast and country days out. The supermarket is only a 10 minute drive and the owners are lovely and helpful people.

The beautiful cottage is in a lovely setting, very quiet, very quaint village.

Lizzie could not have made us more welcome and the arrangements beforehand were helpful. We were extremely lucky with the weather. As mentioned by a previous guest, I also found the double bed short with the wooden board at the end of the bed. The bed was comfortable and ideal for a less tall person. The garden with seats and a parasol were idyllic. My wife and I felt very comfortable and enjoyed our relaxing stay. Lizzie's mother ,who lives next door, was lovely. Lizzy was very helpful, contacting us beforehand to discuss central heating times and access to the cottage.

The accommodation was very good - comfortable with all the facilities that we needed. The location in the village of Boynton is ideal for exploring the East Yorkshire Coast and Wolds. There are also pleasant footpaths to be discovered directly from the village. Well reccommended. Mick and Pauline Smith

Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful area - a quiet picture-postcard village.

Walks straight from the cottage into unspoilt countryside gave us sightings of hares and a barn owl. Close to the wonderful Bempton Cliffs with outstanding bird watching and photographic opportunities, and to stunning coastal views. Lizzie and her mum made sure we had everything we needed, and the arrangements of fresh flowers were a lovely additional touch. We’d have absolutely no hesitation in recommending The White Cottage to anyone.

We stayed for a week at White Cottage just after Covid restrictions were finally eased, and the accommodation was very clean.

The whole process felt Covid secure. Lizzy our host was very accommodating and welcoming, meeting us in the beautiful garden on arrival and being on hand if needed. The cottage is spacious and beautiful, full of character with many original features. It was rather cold but warmed up with the heating system, and the wood burner is very cosy (fuel and kindling is extra). The kitchen is well equipped and we ended up cooking every day. The washing machine is easy to use - don't forget your laundry detergent! The only reason for not giving full marks for comfort is the double bed footboard, which being tall was awkward in an otherwise comfortable bed. It would have been nice also to have a working bathroom fan. Boynton is a tiny hamlet, very peaceful with lovely local walks, yet easily accessible. Nearest shops are in Bridlington (Morrisons etc) and Driffield is also within easy reach. The highlight for us was the wildlife, at Flamborough Head, Bempton cliffs and even in the local fields where we saw spring hares and a tawny owl!

This is the quintessential English cottage.

Lovely old cottage with an old world feel , but still having all mod cons.

Very pleasant friendly owners, very keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is in a very small hamlet a short distance away from many places of interest . We were lucky enough to have glorious weather whilst there which is always a bonus.

Fantastic location, roomy accommodation and sky plus was an unexpected bonus. Liz was very welcoming indeed. All in all, a fantastic experience.

The cottage is very spacious and well equipped. The owners make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. Easy access. Nice quiet setting yet close to Bempton RSPB, Flamborough Head and Bridlington. A very nice place to stay.

Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings.

Owners live on site and are very helpful and friendly. We've stayed in many cottages in the UK and this is definitely the best for comfort, space, parking and ease of access to places of interest.

The owners were more than helpful - our arrival was late but Lizzie was all smiles as she welcomed us to The White Cottage.

We arrived during a cold wet spell in June yet the cottage was warm, the heating switched on and perfectly timed to go on for part of the night and day. The cottage is very spacious and decorated and furnished with exquisite taste. Being in a hamlet with no through traffic, it's perfect for anyone wanting peace and quiet, yet not isolated. It even has an old fashioned scented rose growing over the front door. The cottage is located perfectly for easy access to the Wolds, coastal towns of interest such as Whitby, Robins Hood Bay, Filey, Bridlington with memories of Dad's Army being filmed here, sandy beaches, several Stately Homes, a Steam Railway from Pickering to Whitby, stopping at Gothland where Heartbeat was filmed. There isn't time to see it all in one week.

Nothing at all, because it was in a nutshell just perfect.

Lizzy and her parents were the perfect hosts and very welcoming.

If you are looking for a lovely cottage White Cottage is the one, very peaceful and relaxing, nice walks , Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough, not far, with the park and ride bus makes it so easy.

Comfortable, well equipped cottage owned by family who checked with us several times during the week that we were happy and had everything that we needed.

Older/infirm people should be aware that there is only one toilet and that is situated upstairs in the only bathroom.

This cottage is a real 'home from home' with everything being though of.

The family are very thoughtful and checked everything was to our liking and there were no problems. The best self catering cottage we have ever stayed in in a quiet and peaceful location.

The cottage is very comfortable, it's in a lovely quiet village and the owners are such nice people. We have already booked a return visit later in the year

Fab cottage!

Our second stay, and it won't be our last. Perfect accommodation, perfect location, perfect owner. Can't say more.

The White Cottage proved a haven of peace and quiet which is exactly what we were looking for from our holiday.

We were quickly able to chill and relax following being made most welcome by Lizzy and her parents, John and Peggy. I would not hesitate to recommend The White Cottage and we are already looking at dates for a return visit.

The setting was fantastic and the cottage was full of character.

It was very easy to park and only short drive to local amenities and places of interest. The owners were very friendly and amenable and checked we were happy etc. We had a lovely time and wished we could have stayed longer.

Great, quirky but spacious cottage.

Very clean . Everything you needed plus more. Lovely owners, nothing to much trouble. The location is ideal,very quiet, seems to be out of the way yet is easy to reach all parts of Yorkshire. Definitely book again when in the area.
