Riseholme

The property needs some maintenance and redecorating.

There is quite a strong "damp" and musty smell when you first walk in. The dining room and lounge areas are very dark and depressing, this is made worse by the plants and trees growing against all the front windows, ground and first floor levels. The garden is very overgrown with plants growing out of and across the steps you need to climb up to the lawn area...no handrail on the steps. We feel the cleaner(s) are letting the owner down, a more thorough clean is needed. Perhaps the owner should visit the property more often. The weather was extremely hot when we were there and there were no fans at the property. We had to cut our visit short by two days due to the heat and my husband being ill.

A beautiful cottage full of character and well equipped, lovely garden room where we spent a lot of time in the evening watching the birds .

A beautiful cottage, off road parking, secure garden for our dogs. We had everything we needed for a very relaxing stay! It was in a good location to explore North Yorkshire and close to so many sandy beaches. Would stay again and recommend

Lovely peaceful location - perfect to explore the coast.

The house itself had everything we needed for relaxing stay. Plenty of sofas space to stretch out and really warm and cosy. As keen cooks we were happy to find that the kitchen had everything we needed too. Comfy beds and a super dark room for a great sleep. The garden room was lovely for relaxing, reading, and watching the birds- also fully enclosed for our dog. We would love to stay again!

Riseholme is a beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful and friendly village.

The location was central to visit both the coast and countryside. We were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped, everything that you wanted and more! Parking and an enclosed garden were a must and a woodburner/open fire very high on my list! Riseholme ticks all of these. The garden was ideal and very secure for our young labrador. The bed in the main bedroom was super comfy with high quality pillows and duvet. The cottage is tastefully decorated with good lighting, furniture and many beautiful pictures. We would definitely book again but would of very much appreciated the heating on when we arrived. The heating was set at 9 degrees and it took a while to warm up. The first basket of logs would be a welcome gesture too. Lastly the cottage was clean but not gleaming....hence the 4 stars. If more attention to detail was paid to the cleaning it would be a definite 5!

Quiet village and with buses 200yd walk away to Helmsley or Scarborough and places like Whitby and York less than 50mins a great location

Riseholme was even better than I expected!

The property was very well equipped, beautifully presented, and comfortable. The garden is lovely and was secure enough for our dogs. The village is quiet and there are convenient short dog toilet walks! The location is convenient for exploring the Yorkshire Moors and coastline. The only negative was the poor internet access. The mobile reception is poor and we could only maintain a WiFi connection if we were in the bedroom which contained the modem, or in the living room immediately below. We only wanted to look up walks and opening times, but you would struggle to work here or stream anything.

Clean, well equipped kitchen and a dog friendly pub just a few minutes walk away with good food. Perfect location to explore North York Moors, local villages and the fantastic coastal area around Whitby, Ravenscar and Robin Hood's Bay.

Riseholme had a lovely welcoming vibe and we felt immediately at home.

The garden and garden room are fantastic features of the property and we didn't lack for anything. Ebberston village is also lovely and good for walking the dog in the morning before taking her out for the day. The Grapes pub is extremely dog friendly and we had a nice meal there of hearty pub food. I would not hesitate to stay here if we decide to visit the area again in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

A totally wonderful cottage.

The garden is amazing (even had my favourite flower peonies!). The sun was in the rear garden from dawn till dusk which was an absolute bonus. The location is perfect and so easy to get out and about to what Yorkshire has to offer. If we were closer we would stay on a regular basis. Thank you for letting us use your wonderful home.

Beautiful little cosy cottage, well placed for walking, and coastline visits.

Well maintained. Extremely clean. Lovely garden and safe for our four legged friend. One thing we would suggest is that due to it been cold and still frosty when we arrived at 3pm in the afternoon the heating was at 9 degrees and it took quite a while for the place to warm up which would have been nice to walk into. Also a tiny instruction on how to turn heat on would have helped, although I contacted the owner who helped us straight away. Also possibly a first bit of kindling and logs to have a fire. The only other thing in the winter is just to be careful of the external steps in the garden, maybe a handrail would be helpful as its a beautiful garden and so many birds to sit and watch. This is just small things, and we enjoyed it immensely, a home from home in a quaint village. The pub up the road 'The Grapes' perfect for relaxing drinks on a night, or sunday lunches and bar meals added to our super time there.

The cottage was clean, warm and comfortable and it was better equipped than many. Anyone interested in booking can book with confidence, we would certainly be happy to stay here in the future.

! The cottage is so well equipped and so beautifully designed - the garden room is a delight. It's so spacious and would be more than comfortable for 4 people. The welcome tray and milk in the fridge was such a thoughtful touch. Without doubt one of the best cottage stays with everything on the doorstep for exploring the coast but a quiet village with lovely locals who were kind enough to hand in my lost phone. Lovely local pub and lovely walks on the doorstep - King Alfred's cave is a must for the view. Absolutely brilliant short stay and will definitely return. Huge thanks to the owner and cleaner for helping me find my phone. Could not recommend this place more highly - just wonderful

Are 1st time at Riseholme and hopefully not our last .

A beautiful cottage with comfy beds and lovely soft towels, the fixtures and fittings are of excellent quality and very clean. The welcome tea tray, milk, and dog items were a lovely addition. Not a complaint but maybe a small first night fire pack would be nice idea on a cold winters evening .looking forward to staying in the spring/ summer enjoy the lovely garden

We had a lovely stay, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, beautiful garden and we loved the sunroom.

The village is a great location, easy reach of all the key sites and some good pubs nearby.

Very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. The cottage is full of character with a beautiful garden and conservatory to relax in. Lots of interesting places to visit nearby. we would certainly like to stay at this cottage again in the future.

We had a lovely stay during a cold and windy week in April, yet the cottage was toasty warm and plenty of hot water.

The sun room at the back was wonderfully light and a great way to enjoy the garden. No doubt the garden bench would be the spot for a glass of wine on a sunny eve. My husband managed to leave 3 shirts behind and the owner was very prompt at sending them back once arranged via Sykes helpline. Beds very comfortable, altogether a relaxing place to stay in a friendly village. Filey beach for dog friendly, Whitby’s quaint cobbled streets with independent shops, the Heritage Railway & exploring the moors filled our week plus good food at The Grapes. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We found Riseholme really comfortable, peaceful and full of character.

The accommodation has been very well thought out and we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend. The area is lovely too. The local pub is very dog friendly and we had a couple of great meals there. Thank you!

Besides being centrally located the owners decorated for Christmas, which meant a lot to us.

It was quite spacious with a wonderful conservatory off the kitchen. Yes a lot of ducking heads for tall people, and perhaps the front rooms felt dark, but that is what cottages usually feel like. Overall lots of light (5 skylights) and very welcoming host and warm feel to the cottage. Avoid eating at the local pub, but very friendly.

A good base for easy access to the coast and moors with good bus service close by.

The extras in the kitchen area were nice to have, cooking oil, sauces and spices etc. The garden was beautiful and we had such a hot week i watered the newly planted flowers, a hose would be a great help! The cottage is in a well kept quiet village, but has a bus service every 2 hours which was a bonus.

We had a great time staying here furnishing and decor excellent everything you need in the kitchen and the conservatory was nice and cosy to sit in on an evening.

It’s in a good place to explore all the east coast and market towns and York not too far away. Plenty of places to go for an evening meal if you don’t want to cook and the Grapes inn is just a 5 min walk away.
