No. 2 Low Hall Cottages

Excellent location in a pleasant village setting.

Clock chiming was not a problem to us and the road outside was generally quiet. It is an ideal spot for exploring the Yorkshire cost, North and South of Scarborough and inland. Although the property was at an acceptable level of cleanliness, it could have done with a deep clean, such as skirting boards and areas in the bathroom, that would help improve the overall presentation. There was plenty of crockery, bowls and plates, but could have done with some more glasses and mugs. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and towels very clean.

A lovely, cosy, dog friendly cottage which was a great base for visiting the Yorkshire coast and Moors.

Local dog walks nearby and 50 minutes walk down to Scalby Mills. Minimally furnished lounge but the kitchen was equipped with a range utensils and had good storage which coped well with all our Christmas food. Nice decorations which made the cottage feel more festive. Steep windy stairs might not suit everyone or the sloping bedroom ceilings but absolutely fine for us. Hope to return again.

We have just returned home from our 4th (!

) stay at Low Hall Cottages (1&2). As always had an absolutely wonderful week. The cottage has all the comfort it needs and is located ideally in the small but charming village of Scalby which makes it the ideal spot for long dog walks. Highly recommend and we will surely book a 5th stay soon!

Beautiful village setting, cottage nice but very basic in all respects, would benefit from a few personal touches to make it more homely, a few niggles but nothing we couldn't get over, button on microwave was a bit of an issue but didn't use it much, just down road there's a gorgeous walk around Scalby Beck for the pups and although gate was faulty it was secure enough to close it for pups to be secure, easy access to Scarborough, whitby and filey, the fella who did gardening etc was lovely and gave great pointers on where to go in area, rosette pub and the oakwheel, a few minutes drive away were lovely for food and friendly staff, proudfoot supermarket again a very short drive away,overall we were lucky with weather and had a good time

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage however thought the cottage was very basic could do with a few home comforts maybe a cushion or two on the sofas , a clock somewhere.

Microwave dishes.We would have appreciated some outdoor seating on the decking area to take advantage of the outdoor area.

Cleanliness a big issue had to wash cutlery cutlery and plates before use.

Cobwebs in lounge not taken down. Kitchen window needs a blind as on main road people can look in. Shower cubicle needs updating and also blind to be up in bathroom window felt uncomfortable with nothing up window. Took duvet cover off yesterday all dirty marks on duvet. Also very dusty under sofas.. could do with a few soft furnishings to make homely. We will not be staying there again very unhappy customer

Absolutely love this cottage, it's in a unique spot with gorgeous views and easy access to public transport.

I have been here a few times now as its such a cosy and comfortable place. The only downfall is the rolls of dust, hair etc under the sofas.

A very pleasant cottage, good base to explore Staithes down to filet Bridlington very central base.

Local shop,?pubs close.enjoyed the walk through the garden onto open fields. Fully recommend it to anyone

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Enjoyed our stay in the cottage was lovely and clean situated in a beautiful village.

Our only niggle was the key kept getting stuck in the door and we had to put the heating on slightly to get any hot water. We read the manual but doesn't mention . No problems otherwise all good ,we loved how the garden goes into the field through the gate.

We had a lovely week here, great cottage with good facilities.

The village of scalby is very nice with some lovely walks, nice pubs and a village shop. A very good base for visiting Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington.

The cottage has been cleaned to a higher standard this visit and everything works okay Will be be back again next year Thanks

The written directions weren't very accurate but the post code was spot on.

The cup's weren't very clean so we had to bleach them other than that, very nice.

Lovely place in a beautiful setting, the views are amazing out the back.

The beds are very comfortable and fresh, but the the drawers in the right hand bedroom need fixing as the bottom one is broken. However the ground floor has a beautiful wood flooring which would be nice if it were clean. The living room looks like it hasn't been cleaned for sometime, there's loads of muck under the sofas. The windows in the living room didn't open and given the weather conditions it was uncomfortably hot. This is the second time we've stayed in this cottage, and would certainly stay again, it would be nicer if it was clean on arrival

Dirty and Broken.

toilet flush broken (reported by previous guests). Reported and very reluctant to do anything, blamed previous guest for "meddling with it". It is BROKEN it JAMS when you try to flush, it has a hole in it, it is dirty. Said would sort it out "first thing". Well "first thing" didn't happen. Shower controller broken (reported by previous guests). Temp controller did not stay in place, rotated so shower got hotter and hotter, risk of scalding. 3 days later shower controller was replaced. But why not fix the toilet at the same time? Black mould in shower cubicle especially on mosaic tiles. Whole cottage is very dirty including plate draining rack, venetian blinds and mirrors. It is not just wear and tear, it is ingrained dirt, this place has not had a proper clean in many months. Website says cottage available from 5pm. Said it would be ready at 4pm. A pity he did not spend the hour fron 4 to 5pm actually cleaning the place. Sykes have gone down in my estimation by continuing to list a property in this state.

Could be cleaner beds nice and clean we had to wash the drinking glasses and Mugs before use

Very basic and very overpriced.

Kitchen equipment poor. No casserole dishes to put in oven. No basins or jugs no teapot no spatula or big spoon. The oven wasn’t clean. I found large slugs on the kitchen floor on two occasions late at night. The windows downstairs don’t open and there is no fan. Consequently it got very stuffy. The light bulb in the lounge lamp had not been replaced although it had be reported previously. The bed linen and towels were clean and fresh. The bedding and the towels were fine .

Nice cottage, outlook bleak, seating outside covered in pine needles, sink plughole in shower room blocked, toilet sisters button broken, no blackout blinds or curtains in the bedrooms, parking area inadequate for larger cars.

There was just a small problem there was a dip in of the beds .

Close to shops, cafe and pub. Excellent place for walking and also buses to Scarborough and whitby. Only small niggle was the dust in the living room, under the sofas and on the window sill. I will definitely stay here again.

Value for money, as the saying goes "it does what it says on the tin!

" Good location etc. Will soon need a bit of tlc. but good for now. Light bulb needed in lounge lamp and battery for kitchen clock. Nothing major to get stressed about.

WiFi has been added since we visited a couple of years ago which was an added bonus.

Visited the Plough pub in the village, great food. Well worth a visit.

top shelf in fridge broken, also no light in fridge, although it did work.

clock on wall not working 2 out of a set of three coffee tables had broken legs the dining room blinds wouldn't close maybe only small niggles, but I advised the contact person who said it would be sorted. It wasn't while I was there.

A lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable in a stunning location.

Ideally located in a picutresque part of Scarborough and for exploring the North Yorkshire countryside and coast.

The cottage was comfortable and warm with a reasonably well equipted kitchen. General clenliness of the property was poor, dusty, cobwebs, and a bit grubby in most rooms. The fridge is rather old but works fine and the same goes for the microwave. We definetly would consider it again but think it was relatively overpriced for the quality of the cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay and found the property comfortable and spacious.

Short drive to the town centre and beaches. Definitely recommend it .

Given the current pandemic the property wasn't clean it needed to be better especially as extra time was allowed before check-in.

The cottage was spacious and parking was easy.

There was plenty of room to store our belongings. In general the cottage was a good standard but some updating is needed. A bathroom cabinet and a full length mirror are needed.

We had a lovely time staying in this cottage.

Perfect location especially if you have a dog. Woke up to deer in the back garden! Excellent for places to go and nearby coastal towns and moors. Would definitely recommend. Cottage comfortable with everything you need.

Nice enough accommodation but lacking homeliness (and loo roll!

After a long drive to get there it would have been good to have had just one roll..) Strong smell of damp plaster throughout. Otherwise a functional place to stay for a short break.

Lovely village location.

spotlessly clean with all mod cons.Very close to amenities and lovely countryside walks for us and our little dog,regular local bus runs every half hr into SCARBOROUGH and WHITBY,superb sports complex in village with ex tennis courts and bowling green.Nice comfy beds,large bathroom and ex kitchen diner,nice lounge with 2 sofas and modern tv with free view.No wi fi but in our case big plus as nice to just shut the door and chill out for a change,3 pubs within half mile plus village shop and 2 superb TEA ROOMS with cakes to die for.Di not really want to come home such a lovely place to be.Def be back next year.

Cottage was very clean & comfortable.

Only downside was it looked a bit tired looking on the outside & could do with a bit of a paint up. Enjoyed our stay & would go there again.

A very wet Easter so a lovely hot shower was well appreciated.

my husband has prostate problems and we both have joint problems so going up and down stairs in the night was difficult otherwise it was a lovely enjoyable stay.
