“Was a lovely house, very large , easily accommodated our party of 24 family members.”

Was everything we needed for our stay. The outdoor space and and garden was huge. Games room was great and a fantastic hot tub. The only negative was with 24 people using the hot, it soon got dirty, and needed cleaning. Could have left some hot tub cleaner in a safe place, to last the weekend. But overall was a brilliant weekend, and felt it was good value for money. Peter Brown (July '26')

“We were a group of 22 ( all extended family ) ranging from 1 year old to late 60s.”

This property was absolutely brilliant for us all. We were able to use one of the living rooms as a play room for the children so the adults could watch football in the other. The beds were really comfortable and the layout was great. Plenty of bathrooms ( we’ve always struggled to get enough in one house ) , all good size and always hot water available for baths/ showers for us all. Fully equipped kitchen , the extra oven and dishwasher were a godsend. Although there were 2 fridge freezers we struggled for fridge space as they aren’t huge and we could have done with another fridge. ( freezer space was fine ) The back garden is a great size for the kids to play ball games and run around Would definitely recommend this property for large groups and we will be returning.

“A really great place for large family celebrations which caters for all generations.”

Ample dining space, well equipped kitchen and a large garden for the kids to run around in. Plenty of bedrooms on the ground floor so people with mobility issues didn't have to struggle with the stairs and excellent that those rooms had en suite WCs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“This house is huge !”

! The flow of Hazlegarth house perfectly suited our large party needs. With its abundance of bedrooms and large dining/seating area, all 17 adults were able to converse in the same place, something we have struggled to find in other property's. The x2 front TV rooms provided ample seating also. The large hot tub was great for a relaxing dip too. Easy walking distance to x3 local pubs and a bus stop within 100 yards if you wanted to explore the local area. The communication from the host Julie was excellent, who we would like to thank for our stay at Hazlegarth house. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend was had by all.

“This was our second stay here for our family Easter holiday, and it was just as wonderful as the first.”

We are a group of 19, ranging in age from 10 months to 88 years, and the property is ideal for large groups. There’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out, while the generous communal areas meant we could all eat together and relax in the evenings. The kitchen setup is particularly well thought out — having two of everything is a brilliant idea, and the two dishwashers were especially appreciated! The games room was a firm favourite with the younger members of the group and kept them happily occupied. All in all, it’s a perfect place for a big family gathering, and I’m sure this won’t be our last stay.

“Had a lovely stay in Hazlegarth House for my son's 21st birthday weekend.”

The house was spot on, plenty of space and very comfortable. The only negative was that the heating was hit an miss in the downstairs bedrooms, but the rest of the house was red hot. Think the system needs a service and perhaps a good flush out. The location was good, short car ride to Filey, Scarborough and the beach. We all had a great time and my son really enjoyed spending quality time with the family for his 21st birthday. Would highly recommend this property was a large party get away.

“I had a wonderful weekend with my family (all 28 of us).”

There were all ages from babies, toddlers to plenty of adults, this property comfortably catered for everyone. Bedrooms were all of an excellent standard. We were there in February but can imagine in the summer the bbq area and large garden would have put to great use. Thanks for a lovely stay for my 60th birthday celebration. One to remember!

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hazelgarth.”

There were 19 of us so plenty of room. Lots of information upfront and a thorough customer guide book in the house Great facilities and the pub across the road (Horseshoe) provided fab meals. Pre-booked. Location good easy drive to Scarborough, Reighton, Filey etc.. Only downside for us. It was November, cold and rainy and the heating was not consistent, The main rooms were fine but in several of the bedrooms only the bottom 4 to 5 inches of radiators heated suggest a good bleed. “Such a great space for family and friends to gather and spend quality time together.”

Amazing that there are so many bathrooms as sometimes they can be lacking in a house this big. But not here! Almost a bathroom for every bedroom. The living rooms & sofas are also a plenty and very comfortable indeed. The kitchen is great space with ample facilities for the number of people. Our second visit and I'm sure we'll return again!

“Good size house for a large gathering as plenty of space -but don’t assume like me that all bedrooms are ensuite !”

- all downstairs bedrooms have ensuite toilets but have to share a family bathroom and shower room . On the middle floor there is a family bathroom and one small shower room, which also serves the top floor.I was surprised that the property was in the middle of a residential road and next to a garage, but there is ample off street parking. There are areas that definitely need a little updating, the utility area where the fridges are and storage cupboard in the kitchen were very grubby - a lick of paint would make a huge difference! It’s apparent that the house has been well used over the summer! We did have some issues with the middle and top floor bedrooms being cold on the first night but managed to sort out the thermostat and rectify the problem . Unfortunately we arrived in the middle of a storm so we’re unable to make use of the huge garden and found the games room/ garage too cold.

I'm sorry that you felt there was confusion over the description which states - Ground floor has Rooms 1 to 8 = 7 x super king and 1 twin room all with ensuite WC and basin and 2 additional family bathrooms with WC and basin and separate with showers. The house is extreamly popular has been fully booked so thank you for pointing out that we need to re-paint the utility and store cupboard, it's incredibly useful as it means we can continue to keep our improve our properties for our guests. I hope the storm didn't impact your stay too much and it's a shame you couldn't take full advantage of the garden but hopr you got time to spend in the covered hot tub. “We absolutely loved the weekend stay at the house.”

It is spacious, well laid-out and luxurious. Huge rooms accommodated our party of 26 people in 13 lovely, comfortable bedrooms. Plenty of showers, bathrooms and toilets. The kitchen is well equipped. Other facilities include darts, table football, pool, table tennis, hot-tub. Highly recommended. One slight negative is that the washing-up bowls aren't the right size for the two sinks, and get stuck. Minor point but a bit annoying when trying to empty them. We had the best weekend making fabulous memories for my husband surprise 60th birthday.

“We stayed at Hazelgarth with extended family and it was perfect for a large group booking.”

The house has so much space! There is sufficient parking and the location is well situation for Filey and surrounding towns. The hot tub was an extra treat...although we all found it a little too hot! The bedrooms were clean and most rooms had an ensuite. The games room was a big hit with the kids! The kitchen was well equipped and has everything you will need. We were really impressed by the space in the kitchen and the availability of a washer and dryer! Our only negatives were minor - the toilet seat on the first floor is old and needs replacing and the fairy lights outside around the hot tub also need replacing (we did try to change the batteries but the lights still didn't work). We would highly recommend this as a place to stay for large groups and families!

“Lots of room for extended family.”

Grandchildren ranging from 17 to 3 years old all found something to entertain themselves, particularly the games room. Large garden but the only slight criticism would be we would have liked it fenced off, particularly as we had small children and two dogs. All said we had a lovely get together in a great house and enjoyed the area, Whitby, Hunmanby Gap beach, Skegness to name a few.

“Great location and plenty of parking for our family group from all over the UK.”

We had a lovely holiday. However there were some issues with smelly pipes on first and second floors and one of the downstairs ensuite toilets. Also leaky shower on ground floor which seems to have been going on for a while. Football table was broken on our arrival and the pool cues had no tips. Kitchen equipment lacking, we like to take it in turns to cook a meal for everyone and sit together to eat but it was very difficult as no large baking/ serving dishes to cook stuff in the oven. No scissors, no dustpan and brush. No mirror-in the upstairs bathroom. No bins in the bedrooms. Could really have done with more bins everywhere. One of the tiny bins in the ensuite toilets on the ground floor hadn’t been emptied and was only opened after 2 or 3 days causing that person to gag with the smell. Not sure when bin collection day is and what the recycling facilities are there which is a bit disappointing considering the amount of recyclable waste we produced Hot tub was lovely and clean ! Garden was great and we made use of the huge crop of apples. Having said all this we found the house ideal for our needs and are considering coming agin next year when hopefully these issues have been addressed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to submit a review and without guests feedback we can not continue to improve out properties. The maintenance issues were reported and I'm pleased to say the guests who have stayed after you have had no problems. As you kindly left a list of these upon departure we are able to get more kitchen items as you have suggested, as stated in the guets manual all rubblish goes into the large blue bin on the drive and then we have a contract with a waste disposal company who then seperate from recycled or not recycled. Commercial business's don't quality for council bin collect like we do at home so that's why there is 1 large bin for all. I'm delighted that you enjoyed the huge garden and even enjoyed some of the apples from the tree. We'd love to welcome you back, best wishes Julie Property Owner

“Our whole party of 16 and 2 dogs enjoyed our stay at Hazelgarth House.”

Everyone agreed that the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for a large number of guests, eg 2 dishwashers and 2 fridge/freezers. The games room with table tennis, pool and darts was well used as was the hot tub, which had powerful jets. The property is a stones throw away from the Horseshoe Inn, which provides good value pub grub. The beach at Hunmanby Gap is a 5 minute drive away. It is a dog walkers paradise. We would recommend Hazelgarth House for a great family get together.

“Brilliant holiday let for large groups.”

I love the way it is set up, with kitchen open to large dining area. The bedrooms are fabulous and beds super comfy. Lots of things to recommend the house. Took us a while to sort heating to downstairs bedrooms so they were cold for first 25hrs. Rest of house was lovely and warm from arrival. We were there during a storm and had a few issues due to that, but maintenance response was very quick and the person was very friendly. We would love to revisit as a group, was great. Thank you!

Even got in early House really warm and bedrooms spotless Spec great Jacuzzi stopped working due to a power cut but rang the owner and was resolved in seconds. Price was ok but next year cheaper Paid 2788 but had 28 guests so worth it

The accommodation was excellent and fully met our requirements as a large family group the doubling up of kettles fridges freezers cookers etc meant that we were able to cook breakfast etc without long delays Every room was spotless the beds were really comfy and bedding was again spotless We had a slight issue with the hot tub not heating up but after making a phone call the repair guy was there within half an hour and didn’t leave until it was sorted Julie our contact for Hazelgarth kept us informed with all the info we required for a speedy access We will definately be returning at some point in the future Thankyou for a wonderful family gathering

“This house is like a tardis!”

It just keeps giving and giving when you walk through the door. Down stairs every bedroom has its own toilet and sink which was fantastic. The number of sitting areas is great and they are all comfy and welcoming. Plenty of bathrooms to share. Beds all really comfy and warm. The kitchen is very well equipt, everything we needed with a dining area with plenty of space. Plenty of parking and a lovely big garden for the kids to play in. With a hot tub which was an added bonus. We all loved it and the kids were sad to leave. We'd love to come again.

“I booked this as a 40th birthday weekend for my partner and our friends and family, aged between 23-64.”

My guests and I absolutely loved the house! The whole experience was perfect from start to finish. Julie, the property manager, was so lovely and accommodating with my (many!) questions and her communication was top notch. The garden is massive, the house is massive, the cashmere topped beds are amazingly comfy, the towels, ornaments and soft furnishings were mainly from Dunelm (so decent quality) and the kitchen literally has everything you need and more besides! 2 cookers, 2 fridges, 2 kettles, 2 teapots, 2 toasters, 2 dishwashers plus absolutely loads of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc etc The hot tub was amazing, the outdoor games room was fun and the various separate lounges were great for time alone if needed. Just everything was spot on! We loved it so much that we aim to be back annually at either this or another of Julie's managed properties. Thank you for an excellent stay!

“Based on the price point we paid we would highly recommend this property, it is spacious with plenty of bathrooms, there are lots of separate sitting areas if you want some privacy.”

The garden was large and we really enjoyed playing games in the garden and eating outside. The house is close to local attractions if you have a car, there is a coop mini supermarket less than 5 min walk away. Things to improve, the bedrooms could do with numbering downstairs, hooks for towels on the back of bedroom doors would be very helpful. Some of the bathroom doors didn't lock or were very stiff. All the toilets seemed to have issues with low power flushing. However this house has to be one our favourite stays and we would highly recommend, lots of space, warm and cosy, and lovely hot tub!

“Such a great layout.”

We couldn’t find anywhere with space for us all to eat together so the kitchen and dining area was amazing. The kitchen equipment was brilliant with everything you could need for 20+ people. We loved the fact that almost every bedroom had its own sink and toilet and there were so many little rooms to go and seek quiet time if needed (we had teens revising for GCSEs and A levels). We had sports day type events in the garden as it was so big. Loved it.

“This house is absolutely gorgeous.”

We booked this for a family holiday, there we're 24 of us aged from 7months to 82 years old and 2 dogs. The accommodation was perfect for us all everywhere was spotless. Plenty for everyone to do and sit. The big dining tables we're great so we could all sit together. Games room for the kids. We did have one issue with a leaking shower upstairs which was reported and fixed same day. The only fault we found was no TVs in bedrooms as the elderly ones in party like to have a lie down in the afternoon and watch TV in bedroom but other than that was absolutely perfect. All communication from booking to leaving was brilliant and Julie is so easy to deal with. Would recommend this home to everyone and reasonably priced for the size of it with amenities and location. Would certainly book again.

To all future guests reading this review – Hazelgarth House was refurbished in July 2023. As you will see from previous guests – this review is simply not accurate. These guests committed damage to shower screens, blinds and had bonfires ON TOP of our brand new, luxury picnic benches! Yes, we charged them for the damage caused, and at no point during their stay, were any maintenance issues raised, likely because they were causing the damage. Happy to report we fixed everything they broke within a few days and have already had some lovely guests enjoying the property in all it's glory. Thanks for reading, Julie Property Owner

“We had a lovely family weekend, four generations together, property is lovely and very well designed with layout etc, beds were so comfortable, kitchen well equipped with pots, pans, crockery etc.”

Couldn't use hot tub as there had been a power cut and it tripped out, owners are going to add to info book on what to do if this happens. All the parking spaces were also brilliant. All in all an excellent property for all ages.

Hazelgarth House, a superb, thirteen-bedroom holiday home rests in the heart of Hunmanby, North Yorkshire, a short distance from the breath-taking coastline and the perfect choice for your next long-awaited family gathering. Both well-equipped and spacious, Hazelgarth House makes a wonderful base for large families and groups, looking to entertain, get together and celebrate, whilst well-located near a shoreline of amenities and attractions, leading up to a must visit to North York Moors National Park. Once you've parked up and unloading your belongings, be welcomed into the home, starting off in the front sitting room, complete with a lovely bay window, large luxury sofas, and a TV, whilst the second sitting room which also has a TV, offers a wonderful nook to relax with a good book in hand or to enjoy an hour’s peace and quiet from the excitement of the group. Hunmanby Gap is 2 miles away and the walk down the hill is worth it for the beautiful stretch of beach and amazing views.

The beach is dog friendly and there is a car park open all year round.

Further along the coast is Filey where you will find Filey golf course, Filey bird and animal park and the popular Filey Brigg which is a hidden gem for hikers and walkers across beach stone and pebbles. Head into Scarborough for a fun-filled day out, where you can tour the remains of Scarborough Castle, take in the botanical landscape of Peasholm Park, head to the Sea Life Centre, or even follow the Cleveland Way walking trail up to the National Park. Then grab a bag of fish and chips and stroll along the beachfront where you can walk from North bay to South bay where you will find all the traditional seaside treats from fairground rides and amusements, to a ride on the speedboat or the pirate ship finishing the day with candy floss or an ice-cream from the many parlours you will find.

Scarborough town centre is a short walk away from South bay beach where you will find an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars.

Bridlington is within easy driving distance, where you can hike the Flamborough Outer Headlands Nature Reserve and make memories at Bridlington Sea front, plus much more.
