“A lovely cottage with truly breathtaking views, and plenty of space ideal for a large family.”

With a bit more attention to detail, this could easily be a five-star property. Unfortunately, there were several issues on arrival that let the property down, which was particularly disappointing given the price paid. Cleanliness, in particular, was below expectations. The floor—especially under the dining table—was unclean, with visible crumbs and hair. The upstairs bath had clearly not been cleaned, and the bedroom bin had not been emptied. The downstairs bathroom also requires attention, with a stained toilet seat and a marked wall above the toilet. Additionally, false nails were found under the duvet. We also found a false hairpiece under the couch, along with a significant number of dead flies throughout the property, including on the windowsills. Outside, the grass was extremely overgrown and had clearly not been maintained. We had to purchase a lawn mower ourselves in order to cut it. After doing so, we discovered dog waste that had been left behind by previous guests. The vanity unit above the sink in the downstairs bathroom was also unclean, with visible marks and rings left from bottles. There was a significant issue with flies likely due to the nearby farm which made the kitchen area particularly affected. We ended up purchasing several fly traps ourselves to manage the problem. Additionally, the kitchen could be better equipped, as there were plenty of large plates but no side plates available. The games room is a great addition and offers plenty of entertainment; however, it would be much more convenient if there was direct access from inside the house. It also would benefit from a thorough clean. Once we had cleaned the property ourselves and sorted the garden, our stay became much more enjoyable, but this is something that should not have been necessary, especially at this price point. Overall, a beautiful property with great potential, but improvements in cleanliness and maintenance are needed to match expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the breathtaking views, spacious accommodation and games room, and that once settled you were able to enjoy your stay. Voebroch is a property we are incredibly proud of, and we strive to provide a memorable experience for all of our guests. We are, however, very sorry to read about the cleanliness issues you encountered on arrival. Cleanliness is something that we take extremely seriously and is an area for which we consistently receive excellent feedback from our guests. The issues you describe are certainly not representative of what we would typically see. As part of our cleaning procedures, photographic records are taken following each changeover to evidence the condition of the property prior to guest arrival. We will be reviewing these alongside your comments and, should you have any photographs of the concerns raised, we would be grateful if you could share them with us to assist with our investigation. We are also sorry to hear that the garden did not meet your expectations. The grounds are maintained by a trusted gardening partner who attends the property on a weekly basis, and the standards described are not reflective of what we would typically see. Had these concerns been brought to our attention during your stay, we would have been more than happy to investigate and arrange any necessary maintenance promptly. Whilst we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, we would respectfully encourage guests to contact us during their stay should any issues arise. We are always on hand and committed to resolving concerns as quickly as possible. Had we been made aware of the concerns we would have arranged for these to be addressed promptly, allowing you to fully enjoy your stay without disruption. Thank you also for your comments regarding the kitchen equipment and fly activity. Being located in a beautiful rural setting next to farmland does occasionally mean that flies can be more prevalent during warmer periods, although we appreciate this can be frustrating. With regards to the games room, we are pleased to hear that you found it to be a valuable addition to your stay. Whilst we appreciate your comments regarding cleanliness and will review these accordingly, it is worth noting that this space is a garage with games facilities, including a pool table and dartboard, as detailed within our listing. As such, it is a more functional recreational space rather than an internal living area of the property. We genuinely appreciate all feedback as it helps us continually improve the experience we offer our guests. We are pleased that you recognised the property's stunning location, generous space and suitability for larger groups, and we hope that despite the issues encountered, you were able to create some wonderful memories during your stay. Kind regards, The Voebroch Team Property Owner
