“Dove Cottage was ideally placed for getting into town and going to the train station.”

It was cosy, comfortable, warm and clean. Well equipped and should you have forgotten anything you would find it within the cottage. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise with home made chutney and jams in it.

“A lovely cottage in a good position to walk into town, although on a very noisy road.”

Clean & nicely decorated throughout. We did find the sofa's uncomfortable at the of the evening, they are hard. We were unable to have a bath because the plug would not stay in. A nice little courtyard for the dog. A well equiped kitchen with everything we needed. Parking was easy in the pub carpark. We are both arthritis sufferers and found crouching down several times a day to the under counter fridges caused us pain each time. They would be better mounted on a raised plynth perhaps? I recommend this cottage it is lovely, but not if you have mobility issues - due to the low fridges & steep stairs.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. Sorry that you found the under counter fridges difficult to access. As you will appreciate from being in the kitchen there are no other places to locate a fridge unless we removed the dining table! We have mentioned the stairs in the access statement. The cottage was built in 1760 and is grade II listed so we celebrate it’s heritage, while doing our best to provide a comfortable and welcoming home from home. Property Owner

“Stairs narrow and difficult to get suitcase up as they are quite steep.”

Could do with another handrail on other side for lefthanders! Bedrooms could do with double glazing as road is noisy early in mornings. Cottage well maintained and in a very convenient spot especially useful having own parking space. Good decor throughout. Plenty of utensils etc. Would definitely book again.

There is actually double glazing to the property but the cottage is built in 1760 and Grade II listed. Hence the steep stairs. The advantage to being centrally located also means you are near the town centre and there is a little traffic noise, but we find you get used to it. Property Owner

“Lovely clean property just around the corner from the high street and North Yorkshire Steam Railway Station.”

Very comfortable with everything needed for a relaxing stay, especially the beds! Parking in the Black swan car park was very convenient and just outside the cottage courtyard. Owners kindly contacted us when we had left an item of property at the cottage and arranged return to us which was very kind. Very tastefully decorated and homely, thank you!

“We have just returned from our third stay at Dove Cottage and as always, we found it very comfortable and clean with all the amenities and equipment you could wish for.”

It's ideally situated minutes from the town centre with the added bonus of free parking next to the property. On the odd occasion we have had a query, the owners have been very helpful and the welcome pack provided was much appreciated.

“A fabulous property in central Pickering with parking and a delightful outside space for summer evenings.”

Everything we needed was there. The towels were really soft and a great size. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with a good shower. Two comfortable sofas in a lovely cosy sitting room. It was a really relaxing space. The owners really look after the property and have created a real home away from home. “Our stay at Dove Cottage was perfect.”

The cottage is well appointed, clean, and comfortable. We had every amenity we needed for cooking and laundry. The location is ideal with so many sites at its doorstep including Pickering Castle, Helmsley Castle, Rievaulx Abbey, Castle Howard, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Parking is convenient and the adjacent pub was friendly and accommodating. There is a Coop and. Lidl within walking distance which was also great.

“Beautifully appointed little cottage in the middle of Pickering.”

Everything one could want is there - plus many little extras above what many owners provide. For a couple it is perfect - however it is fair to say it is really too small for 2 couples to share, especially as there is only 1 loo, and that is in the bathroom.

A real home away from home. Plenty of space for the four of us, plus Holly the Dalmatian! Everything you could possibly need kitchen wise, lovely comfy beds and a powerful shower, even a bowl for the dog! Great location, with lots to explore locally and beyond. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway was a hit with us all. Lovely meal at the Black Swan next door. We would thoroughly recommend, and hope to visit again someday!

“We had a four day break over New Year in this superb cottage, what a little gem.”

Everything and everyone is catered for, right down to the dog bowl. It’s quite spacious, especially the bedrooms. Good log burner kept us all cosied up on a night. The location is brilliant, just round the corner from the high street. There’s plenty of restaurants and pubs on the doorstep, so no need to drive. We had an Indian takeaway from Spice4u which is about three doors away from the cottage, superb and very reasonably priced. Scarborough, Whitby and Helmsley are not far away and easy to get to. We would like to thank Ann & Phil again for the lovely welcome hamper, very kind and thoughtful. We will be staying again this year..

We were a last minute booking for Christmas but the cottage was still decorated with a beautiful tree and some lovely treats in the welcome pack. It was really well equipped and had everything we needed and more. The fabulous hamper was such a generous and thoughtful gesture and filled with so many goodies! The bed were really comfortable. It was great to have a washing machine and dryer and also a bike shed. The cottage is perfectly situated for all the amenities in Pickering, which is a delightful town and also close to fabulous walking and cycling areas.

“A glorious little cottage, with everything we needed and more.”

It was perfect in terms of space, comfort, luxury and location. The parking was a real bonus and Pickering is a bustling, picture perfect town with everything in walking distance. We made use of all the facilities in the cottage and nearby. The hamper was a real treat and we enjoyed it in the cosy surroundings. The attention to detail in the cottage was spot on and I don't think there is anything that could make it better. We didn't use the wood burner but I can just imagine how lovely it would be when it's snowing outside. 10/10 from us!

“Having stayed in many holiday rentals we thought that Dove Cottage was one of he best.”

Very clean,comfortable, well equipped and close to the town centre with the added bonus of free parking in the Black Swan car park which is next to the cottage.On the day we arrived the owners Anne and Phil sent text to ask if we had settled in OK and another nice touch was a food hamper which was left for us that was much appreciated.

“A fantastic property, extremely clean and everything you could ever need in the way of facilities.”

We really appreciated the welcome basket, a lovely touch. Beautiful courtyard area, a real sun trap where we enjoyed breakfasts and a glass of wine in the evenings. Location is ideal for Whitby, Scarborough, York and many other delightful places that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. Also, the cottage is really handy for nipping around Pickering with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. One very minor point, stairs are quite narrow up to the second floor, which only impacted the trips taking a suitcase up and down, otherwise all good. Would highly recommend this cottage.

Very handy for local mountain bike trails, walks and the beach at Scarborough. The cottage had everything we needed including tea and milk on arrival. The bike storage was 10/10! Beds were very comfortable too. Thank you for a wonderful week (great weather too!)

“The cottage was very placed for Pickering centre and easy access to Whitby, Scarborough, Helmsley and Malton.”

It was spotlessly clean and had everything you would need for a self catering holiday. It was beautifully furnished and decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable and I had the bests night sleep. The owners left a little hamper of goodies which was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Will definitely book this cottage again in the future

Prime location right next to Pickering town, great local take always should you not want to cook in walking distance and lovely pubs with great out door seating. The games cupboard was a great addition to the cottage for these cold winter days, we just wished we booked a week. We’ll 100% be back.

“Dove Cottage was absolutely lovely, beautifully furnished with lovely finishing touches.”

It was extremely clean, all bedding & towels were supplied, very cosy, the central heating made it very warm so there was no need to light the wood burner. A super hamper with many goodies, plus the basic items, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, salt & pepper, & plenty of cleaning materials available. The visitors information book was very clear and covered all aspects of the cottage and also included many local as well as further afield walks. The weather wasn't suitable to sit in the pretty small courtyard. Ample parking either at the front of the cottage or in the pub car park which could be accessed via the back door of the cottage. An ideal location for wandering into historic Pickering and for visiting much of the National Park's villages and coastal areas.
