“Great location, lovely and private, parked the car on the road above about 100 ft away and we carried bits down the incline to the holiday let.”
We had absolutely no issue with this whatsoever. Parked up Sunday afternoon and never touched the car again until we left on Wednesday evening, as we walked or used the Coastliner, a 5minute walk to the 840/843 stop which took us to Whitby, Thornton Le Dale, Malton and Dalby Forest and the 128 from Pickering Coop to Scarborough. £2 a journey until the end of March. PERFECT!!! Relaxing stay, garden secluded and had open views over the train station. A very good range of shops and eateries and local pubs if you searched for them, which we did. The church is wonderful and always open to visit. The upstairs living space in the holiday let is perfect, where we watched sunsets, through the window. The building is very warm and snuggly, we turned the heating down and opened doors but we are used to being cool rather than wanting to be overheated, the choice is yours and the Hive can be switched to support this. Only ideas - A comfy chair in the dining area , if space allows , may make for a lovely reading space but I suppose this is available upstairs so maybe unnecessary, a few more hooks on doors and possibly set of drawers in one of the bedrooms rather than the open hanging area but it works for short stays without a doubt. Plenty of games and books to read and films. The tv is adequate but if you are used to large screens you may be a tad disappointed but not a big issue as there is lots to do besides watch Tv. The owners next door leave you to it and have tried really hard to ensure maximum privacy for clients which is noted and appreciated. We did wonder if the mattress on the bed was a combination soft side and hard side which if it is maybe needs to be mentioned in the brochure. We had a fabulous time, we stayed 3 nights and we could have potentially done a week, as didn't get to try all the eateries. We did give all the pubs a good crack and they were all pretty decent, the food at the Black Swan looked great and it’s so cosy inside and the staff friendly. The Bay Horse was great when it opened more traditional for locals. The Rose inn was friendly and had a lovely outside seating area near to the river / stream. The Sun has had refurb and again a local, but we felt welcome enough. The recently refurbed sports gin bar was excellent friendly and a lovely setting, can imagine that being a very busy venue at the weekends. Lots of lovely cafes Russell’s smashing but again loads to go at. We had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
