Lovely property in a fantastic location.

This was our 3rd visit. Can easily accommodate all guests, 2 interior dining tables and one large table at the end of the garden overlooking the cliffs. Cottage is kitted out really well, even down to dish washer tablets. Nice to have a bottle wine on arrival. Only negative would be the later check in and early check out, furniture in the conservatory could do with refresh. But would not stop us staying again.

Incredible view from the garden.

.house is perfect, we did have a slight issue, was resolved within 5 minutes.. This has genuinely been one of the best holidays we’ve had,5 minutes from the bus stop, Whitby 20mins away,Scarborough 50mins..the Cleveland coastal walk to Whitby is a must, it’s a Bonny walk.highlight for us was the badgers who come out in the evening in next doors garden,it was an absolute joy watching them..we will definitely be back!. If there’s actually availability lol..

Just arrived home after our 5th visit.

Despite the very cool, changeable weather we enjoyed our stay as always. We always feel very comfortable in the house and love sitting in the conservatory with views of the sea. The garden is really lovely and the owner Andy had been mowing the lawn and tidying up the garden. We saw the family of 5 badgers nearly every evening. We use the buses quite a lot to Scarborough, Whitby and up to Staithes which adds to the holiday experience. Again a very nice holiday at number 2 The Close.

We adored our stay.

So peaceful and quiet. Huge garden with the most amazing sea view. Nightly visits from a badger family at the bottom of the garden which we watched from the viewing deck. The kitchen was so well equipped it was the best we have stayed in. Water pressure in the showers extremely good. Lovely comfy beds and bedding. The walk down to the bay is well worth the yomp. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

A lovely property, very spacious and comfortable, in a great location, quiet and peaceful but short walk to shops, restaurants etc.

The view is absolutely amazing. Well stocked kitchen (though scissors would be handy). Showers were fantastic. Good supply of toilet roll, soap and kitchen towel, some basics like salt, pepper, oil etc. We enjoyed badger watch immensely! Andy, the owner, was extremely helpful. There'd been an issue with hot water early on our arrival day, Andy phoned and explained the situation and had an engineer arranged to fix it early on the Sunday morning. Lovely walks nearby to walk the dog. Victoria Hotel was lovely for dinner but probably best to book during peak periods. Enjoyed a lovely meal at Cosa Nostra in Whitby (again, advise to book) catered for our special dietary requirements. And the fish at the Fish Box some of the best we've ever had.

Overall 2 the Close was clean and comfortable, we did have an issue with the boiler on the last morning which owner got onto right away The kitchen was well equipped.

The view from the back garden is stunning and worth the fee alone. I would definitely stay again. It could do with a bit of TLC to conservatory doors and windows as they were difficult to close and lock, but overall a good place to stay and very well located.

This is a gem of a bungalow in a perfect location for gazing at the wildlife and the gorgeous views. Nice living spaces inside the property with spacious rooms. Would definitely recommend

Location and views from the garden lovely.

The property needs a thorough clean, conservatory in need of attention, furnishings old and torn, covered with throws to hide them. The garden needs attention. The fencing is not secure enough for small dogs. Despite these issues, had a lovely time, weather beautiful. Would definitely go back due to the location and views, once the above have been addressed

Spacious( for four of us), comfortable, great location and dog friendly.

Suited our party very well ( one couple, two singles). Wonderful views and the added bonus of the evening wildlife spectacle. Having stayed a few times before in RHB but at the bottom of the hill, definitely prefer the convenience of being in the village and having the two parking spaces even though we walked down every morning with the dogs. We'd asked for extra towels and the next day the owner appeared with brand new ones. Thank you. There's a few little things that need sorting in the house. There's no lock on the downstairs toilet door and the loo seat needs repairing and the french doors in the conservatory need realigning as they are difficult to close and lock. Otherwise all was good, thank you, and when we return to RHB we'll be looking to book here first.

Fantastic stay at the The Close.

Amazing views from the garden across the bay and great to see lots of wildlife in the garden in the evenings. It is close to all the amenities in Robin Hood's Bay and is a perfect location for exploring the North Yorkshire coast. Great walking off the doorstop and no shortage of pubs and restaurants in the village. The cottage has everything you need and is very comfortable and spacious.

Really comfortable and well stocked bungalow.

Layout seems strange at first but it works really well and could be really flexible depending on who is staying, I think a floorplan might assist with deciding how it could work. We had family and friends staying with us over the week and everyone enjoyed it. Really good location in Robin Hood's Bay, parking means that you don't have to carry your bags but it's only a 10/15 minute walk down into the Bay itself. Good exercise walking back up! The bungalow was really cosy and the kitchen had loads of equipment. You can drive to Whitby in about 20 minutes. Loads to explore in Robin Hoods Bay, plenty of walks if that's your thing. Looking forward to going back some time.

The close had everything what was needed.

The view from the garden is fantastic and is great for dogs as it’s secure. It was great seeing the badgers come into the garden in the evening. Location wise it’s good ,within walking distance of Robin Hood Bay , it’s quiet and is a real home from home.

We enjoyed a lovely last week of Summer at The Close.

The accommodation was spacious and well laid out, the beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and warm duvets. We used the upstairs shower and bathroom which had a plentiful supply of hot water and bath towels. The garden was beautiful and well maintained and we enjoyed morning coffees out on the deck overlooking the sea views every morning (really missing those views already!) We would happily recommend and return :)

Loved the location of the property (especially the view from the back garden), was easy to find & close to all the local towns.

The property had everything we needed & was clean & tidy. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The dogs enjoyed the garden & we enjoyed the seating area at the end to enjoy the view. Parking was great with 2 spaces outside the property. We would definitely stay here again.

We already knew how much we liked Robin Hood’s Bay, but this lovely and homely bungalow with stunning views over the Bay makes this one of our favourite holiday home stays.

We will certainly miss our morning cuppa in the garden in the lovely seating area. We appreciated the short walk to the village and beach area with plenty to do nearby, we also enjoyed visiting nearby Whitby and Saltburn by the Sea. We will be back to stay here for sure.

The house is in a perfect location.

Robin Hood bay itself is a short walk away and Whitby a short drive. The garden has a lovely decking area with a fire pit at the end that overlooks the bay with incredible views. The house itself was clean and tidy. The beds were ok. Overall value for money was excellent and we enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic location and sea views.

Decking a sun trap & quite sheltered on windy days.Loads of fun watching the badgers at around 9pm each evening- leave a trail of apple & they come right up to the conservatory. Parking a must in Robin Hood’s Bay- fits 3 medium size cars. Central but descent of steep hill not compulsory but well worthwhile! Easy access to Cinder Track and Cleveland Way though southbound section starts downhill. Can be accessed from Cinder Track though downhill got to be done somewhere!

Clean, spacious house in a great location on the top of the cliff within easy reach of Robins Hoods Bay and also the coastal footpath.

Only criticism would be that the garden was full of dog poo! Not great if you are staying with young children as we were.

We had an excellent week at 2 The Close, lovely to see the Badgers in the garden every night.

Comfortable house & a really nice garden. Loved the decking at the end of the garden & the lovely view of the sea, waking up every morning with that view was spectacular. Only a short 5-10 minute walk to the Cinder Track & Cleveland Way.

We stayed at 2, The close, the TV in the Lounge didn't work, there was no pillow protecters on the bed's, no instruction's for the appliances, and my friend hurt his leg getting out of bed as there was a bar on the side of the bed, so we didn't have a good stay.

Excellent property, excellent location, great value, would recommend to all age groups and in particular nature lovers with all the wildlife that visits the garden (badgers and pheasants plus many varieties of birds) The only small issue was the tv in the living room was missing it's HDMI ports for some reason.

So if you had kids and wanted to connect a console you wouldn't be able. There also wasn't a dvd player in the lounge but there was dvds in the bookcase so maybe it's being replaced. (There was a scart socket in the lounge tv if you wanted to bring a dvd player with you just in case)

We had a great time over Christmas staying at 2 The Close.

We fed the birds some bird seed (which we always like to do wherever we go) and we were very surprised as we saw 11 varieties - Robins, Blue tits, Sea gull, Crows, Pheasant male and female, Chaffinch, Jenny wren, Black bird, Coal tit, Sparrow, Magpies and also some local Squirrels joining in with the melee. Perhaps this house should be a bird spotters holiday home too? There was a potentially big issue on Christmas eve as the boiler broke down but Andy was very quick to action and had an engineer out to fix it on Christmas day morning and everything was fine and we remained warm. Our dogs loved the garden and we loved the clear stary sky at night and lovely sunrises across the Bay. Thank you

Fantastic house with everything you could possibly need.

The views are amazing and the conservatory is a wonderful place to enjoy them. The garden is lovely and although dog friendly, I would not say dog safe as there is an area at the bottom of the garden with the raised seating where they could easily escape. Andy is a fantastic host, on hand if needed. Thank you Andy, we hope to return in the not too distant future.

Fantastic cottage!

Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay on the Yorkshire coast. Great views from the garden and wildlife on your step. Looking forward to the next visit already.

What a wonderful place.

Exactly as listed, even a welcome bottle of wine and basics to start the holiday off. A few cobwebs and very minor decor blemishes which would benefit from some TLC but this in no way hampered anything. Wildlife vusits an absolute treat too.

Excellent holiday , wonderful area packed with wildlife , sightseeing and fabulous views the accommodation was ideal for 7 adults and two dogs plenty of room , amazing view from the garden and badgers were a bonus , would definitely book again .

Lovely welcome gifts of wine and milk, fresh flowers were a nice touch. Very friendly local shop and dog friendly pub/hotel the Grosvenor nearby

Lovely big cottage, best location we have stayed at in robin hoods Bay.

Flowers, bottle of wine and milk were a nice welcome as well. We are definitely looking at staying again.

The beds are hard and uncomfortable, the main bedroom downstairs, next to the conservatory has a unique smell, having no ventilation.

( stale body odours)." You can however create a flow of air from the upstairs bathroom window which. draws air down the very creaky staircase. The bath towels & bedding have seen better days. The badgers & dear seen from the conservatory + the views were the best part. Overall if your not really bothered about home comforts, it's the place for you. But having said that having paid close to a £1000 pounds for 5 days, you would have thought a better level of hygiene and comfort would be at the forefront of the owners

This holiday was our third trip to 2 The Close.

Each time we arrive it is like coming home. There are seven of us and we feel so comfortable with the facilities and the garden with the spectacular view. The badgers appeared every night which was great and we love the pheasant that wanders around all the gardens. The house location is very good for walking on the Cleveland way or the cinder track into Whitby which we do every visit. We met Andy the owner and he is very easy to talk to and takes care of any needs you may have. We will certainly be back.

Beautiful property in a great location.

Very dog friendly. Very welcoming with milk, flowers and a bottle of wine. Exceptional views and would be amazing with the right weather. Still great in bad weather. We did however feel rushed and under pressure on the leaving day with the owner waiting on the driveway whilst we were loading the car 15minutes prior to the allocated leaving time of 9.30am although I appreciate this wasn't intended.

We are a family of 8,the large bungalow was perfect, my elderly Mum had the bedroom with bathroom away from the the younger ones which was perfect, we made use of the sunny conservatory and the garden sea view was spectacular,we would stay again .

The cottage was absolutely lovely, very spacious and immaculately clean.

The cottage is stocked with everything you would need for a relaxing holiday for 6-8 people. Parking for 3 cars with care, near facilities like shop, chippy & pub and playground for kids. Fantastic views over the sea and next to the coastal and cinder path for walking of cycling.

Lovely spacious property, everything that you need is there for your comfort and convenience.

Unexpected welcome pack included a large disposable barbecue and wine x 2. Large rear lawn on the cliff face overlooking the North Sea. Badgers in the garden at night time plus a sole bat providing a nightly display watching from the roomy conservatory. Very quiet location just a short but rather steep walk down to the Robin Hood’s Bay village. Excellent exercise trying to walk back up said hill! Cracking chippy just as the slope begins. Property is well situated for Whitby and the NY moors but the journey to Scarborough is a bit of a pain and often bottled-necked so allow plenty of time and patience if sightseeing the coast in a southerly direction. Whitby and Staithes to the north are worthy places to visit with hardly any parking congestion but lots to do and see.

3 generations and their partners enjoyed a cracking holiday here.

A great base, terrific views and very well equipped and comfortable home from home. The garden is large and has plenty of seating, and the view is breath taking. We spent each evening in the conservatory together, enjoying family meals and playing games. This enabled us to spot the badgers wandering around the garden as soon as dusk fell. Such a privilege!

This is our second stay at 2 The Close and it was like coming home again.

We were a party of seven adults and two dogs. Everything was just the same as our last visit, comfort, cleanliness, facilities. We were straight into our holiday enjoying the magnificent garden and views and experiencing the superb hot weather that the week provided for us. Every evening from about 8pm we were treated to the visit of the family of badgers. On one evening we had five badgers in the garden and one came right up to the conservatory. A photographers delight. The bungalow is ideally positioned if you want to try the Cleveland Way walks to Ravenscar or to Whitby. Also the cinder track to both places for walking or cycling. We did both walks and caught the bus back. Ideally placed for buses to Scarborough or Whitby. Thank you to owner Andy, who we met again, for his friendliness and help. This is a nice place, we would go again.

It is clean and generally better than the photos suggest. The garden is large and fairly private. Sitting at the table at the end of the garden on a sunny morning is like being on a TV travel show - great views and serenity. On the other hand, you are on top of a cliff overlooking the North Sea, so any hint of an east wind leaves you in no doubt this is North Yorkshire. A fairly unique feature is that the neighbours feed the badgers that live in the wilderness below the cliff. So badgers can be easily seen from the garden in the evening. We created peanut trails from the cliff edge to the back door and easily attracted what looked like a family of four. By the nightfall on the final night there may have been 11 in the garden, with the boldest sniffing at the windows. Parking for 2 cars is easy and with care 3 can be fitted on the house parking. Street parking for at least one more is possible. If I could change one thing, it would be the plumbing, which is noisy – flushing the downstairs toilet tends to wake up the bedroom above. Plus - we found TV reception intermittent. On the whole, in a world where everything seems to have a crazy price, this is fair value.

The Bungalow is a lovely property It is equipped with everything you will need for your holiday Even down to picnic bag bucket and spades little fishing nets for the children.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need . Moving onto the garden well the Only word is STUNNING lovely big garden with spectacular scenery and Sea views .We will definitely stay again .I forgot to add very dog friendly and secure .

It made my special birthday even more special having the whole family together. Plenty of space a a clean property. Pub just down the road with easy walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely quiet large semi chalet with great views over the sea and along the cliffs.

Never saw the adjoining neighbour, maybe a holiday home? Garden is dog friendly, no chance of escaping. Parking for 2 cars at the front. Perfect location for accessing Robin Hoods Bay and the neighbouring countryside. House itself was very clean, tidy, warm and with all the facilities you would want. All in all a great place for a holiday.

Have spoken to the owner about the problem with shower, he is looking at ways to resolve it.

Considered stay very good value for money. Excellent view of the bay and sun rise.

A great Christmas week spent at a lovely cottage with magnificent views .

The cottage provided everything needed and lots of extras. The dogs loved the garden. We were sorry to leave and would definitely love to return in the future.

Lovely holiday at 2 The Close. Morning coffee in the conservatory watching the sunrise was lovely, as was sitting at the end of the garden overlooking the bay. No worries about parking as you can get three cars in the space. Short walk and you are at the top of the hill into the bay. Very well equipped with slow cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee machines, dishwasher etc etc. Our greyhound loved the fully enclosed garden. Loads of room in the property as it was just two of us. Great holiday and we will return.

Great accommodation and fabulous views! The owners are very friendly and helpful. (Nice neighbours too!) I truly can’t find anything to criticise. We’ve stayed in cottages in Robin Hoods Bay over the last 26 years and this is by far the best! Added bonus is the parking outside.. no more trundling luggage and groceries down the hill… we shall definitely return! Thank you.

We had a wonderful stay at 2 The close cottage.

It was lovely to be welcomed with flowers , a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge. The bungalow is well equipped and has lots of seating space for socialising. And is comfortable for 2 families staying together. The upstairs room and bathroom is beautifully finished and is perfect for teenagers / children having their own space We absolutely love Robin Hoods Bay and holiday here regularly . The garden of this property is stunning and looks over the bay. We sat out on the decking having barbecues and we're really fortunate to see lots of wildlife. Andy the owner contacted us and offered to help us with anything we needed. We would love to visit again in the near future.

The location of this wonderful property with its stunning views from the sunroom / garden is fantastic.

The host was very friendly and helpful. The only reason I have marked the review as 4 stars and not 5 stars is because the sealant needs replacing behind the basin in the downstairs toilet. I appreciate not everyone is as fussy as my wife!

Overall the property was good and suited our needs.

The garden wasn’t secure as one of our dogs found all the weak spots. The bathrooms in the property all need a deep clean and the grouting to be redone. My friend had to clean the upstairs shower before use. The Bath mats were disgusting and I wouldn’t use them. No washing line in the garden. I read the review book and this had been raised before but not actioned.

A really lovely retreat with fabulous garden and views.

Ideal location for exploring the area and peaceful on times we were at home. A couple of hiccups which couldn’t be helped. We didn’t use the parking discs because we didn’t know where they would be accepted. It might be worth explaining them with the info. A really pleasurable family holiday

We visit the area regularly and have stayed in many places. The property was really homely, we loved the garden and watching the birds. Home owner was really friendly and helpful and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Will definitely be looking to stay again in the future.

Fantastic bungalow with the most magnificent sea views.

All the comforts that you need in the extended bungalow. Nice size kitchen, four bedrooms, one that opens into the conservatory, two bathrooms, a nice lounge with a large screen tv. There is also Wifi. We spent most of our time in the conservatory with sweeping views of the garden and out to sea. At dusk we saw badgers at the bottom of the garden and one evening a deer as well as Pheasants. Getting up early was essential for us to view the magnificent sun rises. We were blessed with a week of cloudless,warm days. The cold evening were special sitting in the heated conservatory. The bungalow is very close to the start of the Cleveland Way walk to Whitby and not far from the start of the Cleveland Way walk from Robin Hoods Bay to Ravenscar. Plenty of nice pubs and restaurants in the area most dog friendly. Andy the owner is very friendly and approachable. We highly recommend this bungalow and we will book again in the future. 5 stars from us. Thanks for the stay.

The kitchen is much bigger than it looks and all bedrooms apart from one have a seaview. The garden is stunning and sitting in the conservatory overlooking the garden and sea was perfect. Fully equipped, cleaned and spacious. Really enjoyed it and will return.

Perfect place to both relax and enjoy daily walks.

The wildlife was abundant, the garden perfect to sit and watch even deer and badgers.

The whole 7days were amazing.

The accommodation superb the views from the back of the house and garden were stunning. So relaxing, close to the resort's along the coastline. The owner and local people were very helpful, friendly and kind. Could not find anything to moan about. A brilliant holiday thanks.

We had a brilliant holiday.

The property was very clean, comfortable, and felt very spacious for our group which included two dogs and a toddler. The view from the back of the house and garden is stunning! The location was a short walk into Robin Hoods Bay. Andy the owner of the property was very helpful and came to mend the washer during our stay. He also advised us to lay the roofing tiles out across the bottom of the fence to stop our puppy from 'escaping' down the cliff side! This might be helpful to others who also have small dogs. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

2The Close is a super place for a holiday winter or summer the view from the bottom of the garden is spectacular.

We had a lovely holiday with friends it was perfect to celebrate my birthday it had everything we needed.

Well equipped cottage.

The only thing missing was a high chair but we managed to borrow one from the next door bungalow who were very friendly and helpful. If you go in the conservatory as the sun rises and don't put lights on you will probably see the deer which come out of the undercliff and graze at the bottom of the garden. The bins are done on alternate Fridays so you will find them pretty full when you arrive. The recycling is one week, general the next. If you have a real load of rubbish the tip is behind the Sainsbury's in Whitby. The there is now an Aldi there as well. The Lidl is on the way out near the football club. Aldi and Lidl are well worth using to stock up with basics, both have big car parks. The glass table in the conservatory makes eating there a bit of a squeeze, however if you have a torx screwdriver you can take a leaf off which makes it easier. The food in the Victoria is good and we have found the fish and chips from the Fish Box better than those from the chippie down the hill although it has just changed hands so may improve. When walking on the beach remember that the cafe in the YHA at Boggle Hole is open to everybody, all day and evening and is superb. Always watch out for the tide especially when the sea is calm, it will sneak in behind your back. Whitby uses disc parking. The cardboard discs are free at all shops and you set you arrival time on them. It is the same system as Harrogate and Scarborough. If you wish to stay longer you can buy scratch cards in shops which give you all day parking in that zone.

Excellent property for folks who struggle with walking .
