“On arrival at Sunnyside we were surprised at the amount of weeds growing in both the border and the gravel on the front.”

We had a problem opening the front door, it was extremely tricky, and initially thought we would have to call the help number. Eventually we managed to get inside. Property clean and in a great position to get the bus . Runswick Bay hotel good food and drinks! Sheet on bed didn’t fit and needed adjusting during the night!

Dear Margaret, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at Sunnyside. We genuinely appreciate all comments as they help us improve the experience we offer our guests. We're sorry to hear about the issues you encountered on arrival, particularly with the weeds in the front garden and the difficulty opening the front door. We'll be addressing both of these concerns immediately with our maintenance team to ensure they’re resolved for future guests. We're also sorry to hear that the bed sheet didn’t stay in place during the night. We do use fitted sheets on all our beds, so this shouldn't have been an issue - we’ll investigate this with housekeeping to make sure everything is being prepared correctly. Although you mentioned the property was clean, we noticed that the cleanliness rating was still marked down. We strive for 100% in this area, so we’d really appreciate any further insight into what we could have done better to fully meet your expectations. Any further comments on the accuracy of the listing, comfort, and facilities would also be greatly appreciated as we want to improve in these areas too. On a positive note, we’re glad you enjoyed the food at the Runswick Bay Hotel - it's a lovely pub with a great atmosphere! We hope you’ll consider staying with us again, and thank you once more for your valuable feedback. Tom Property Owner

About the location

RUNSWICK BAY

Staithes 2 miles; Whitby 9 miles; Saltburn-by-the-Sea 10 miles.

The historic fishing village of Runswick Bay is without doubt one of the true gems of the Yorkshire Coast, if not the whole of the UK. This picturesque SE-facing village situated 9 miles from Whitby sits in a beautiful sheltered sandy-beached bay backed by spectacular cliffs and moorland scenery. Relatively un-commercialised and with vehicular traffic restricted, the village provides the perfect setting in which to relax and unwind. Relish in taking long walks on either the sandy beach or along the Cleveland Way on the clifftop above. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting Whitby with its famous Abbey, Staithes with its pretty shops, cafes and superb art gallery, or touring the dramatic North York Moors. The lower village houses a local inn serving food along with a spectacularly situated cafe, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides 2 inns, a fish and chip shop, a local butchers and a garage/petrol station. A Co-op is situated at Staithes 2 miles away.

Note: Driveway to the property has a ramp leading onto the gravel to park and low cars should be cautious of this.
