Not suitable for someone with mobility issues.

Drive steep and steps to back garden. Something was rattling with the wind on last night at side of bungalow. Went out to look and there was a rusty old caravan and scaffolding at side. Wouldnt think it would be safe if children went round side

Lovely comfortable bungalow.

Great local amenities. Yew Tree Cafe very good. Plough hotel very expensive average food poor service. If there was somewhere to store bikes at Sanderling it would be super as it's on the Cinder Track

We stayed here for one week we had a wonderful time .

The bungalow was spotless .the owners even moved the furniture around to suit my son who is in a wheelchair.everything was spot on thankyou .brenda john and kyle x

My wife and I just like a lot of previous holiday occupants to this property have stayed at Sanderling before and I'm not surprised its one of the best Holiday Cottages that Sykes lists

Another excellent stay at Sanderling, our fourth visit, which I think speaks for itself.

5* ratings given with the exception of cleanliness, one minor let down the kettle is in desperate need of descaling, clearly hasn't been done for quite a while. Had to boil water in a pan, transfer to glass jug for pouring when in need of a hot drink. This did not spoil our holiday experience, we just think it's something that has been overlooked and needs addressing.

A Very comfortable well equipped bungalow. Perfectly situated for visiting the local area. Great dog friendly garden and a very quiet and peaceful location.

A really enjoyable stay which felt like a home from home.

Spotlessly clean and all rooms well decorated. We had everything we could need provided and even had a welcome parcel of "goodies". This was our first visit to the property but hopefully won't be our last as it was ideal for our needs.

The property is so light and spacious and a superb layout.

Little extras like welcome pack, bedside torches, etc all add to the stay. Information file very helpful. Lovely, well kept outside area (patio and garden)

Felt at home as soon as we walked through the door.

Comfortable and cosy. Recently refurbished bathroom excellent with plenty of space. Only thing we missed was a radio although we know the TV could be used.

We definitely noticed a pervading doggy smell this visit but as we like dogs this didn't inconvenience us too much.

Apart from the poor shower head and outside of could do with a wheelchair ramp to one side of the front two steps .

..such a lovely atmosphere.We found it very peaceful. Every little detail had been thought of and the added touch of a welcome pack was most appreciated. The garden was very secure so our dog was very happy too. We hope to return soon.

Our third visit to Scalby and our first stay at Sanderling.

A most comfortable and spacious bungalow, extremely well-equipped with modern bathroom facilities, new digital TV etc. Very quiet and peaceful and superbly located for bracing walks along the Cleveland Way and adjacent "cinder track". The Plough pub in the village offers exceptionally good food and honest Yorkshire ale. What is there not to like? Heartily recommend.

This is our second holiday at Sanderling with my dad.

As the first visit, the property was absolutely brilliant. Spotlessly clean, nice touches - milk, biscuits, chocs, tissues, torches to use etc. Everything was perfect. One of the best, actually, the best property I have stayed in. The garden is beautiful. Lots of local information on the area provided, clear instructions regarding appliances etc. Couldn’t fault it at all. 10/10. Would highly recommend. Thank you for a perfect holiday.

Best place we have stayed in.

Everything was thought of. Very comfortable in a very quiet road in the lovely village of Scalby. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

This was a lovely bungalow in a quiet location but great for visiting lots of places.

Very clean and well equipped. The treats were a lovely surprise. Well equipped for dogs too, with bowls, treats, towels and poop bags.

In a nice quiet area, but close to many places and attractions.

With the Cinder path on our door to walk the dog, and close to all of Scarborough amenities, the bungalow was an excellent base for a relaxing holiday.

Have stayed in many properties in Yorkshire and this is by far the best.

One of the best cottages we’ve stayed in.

Very well equipped with lots of extras like tea, coffee, toilet rolls and showergel included. Had comfy seating and lovely bathroom. Garden was well maintained too with good outdoor furniture. Location is excellent, can walk into Scarborough in 30 mins and to other villages ie Burniston along the Cinder Track (2 nice pubs there). Ate twice at Daisy Tea Rooms in Scalby (10 min walk). Highly recommend this property.

My wife and I have gone to many holiday cottages over the years but this bungalow was one of the best, good mattresses, good central heating and every small household essentials supplied i.

e. dish washer tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels, the list goes on.

Lovely bungalow in quiet location.

The bungalow was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It is conveniently situated for easy access to Scarborough. There is a lovely garden although due to poor weather we couldn't fully appreciate it.we enjoyed it so much we have booked again for next year.

The bungalow is spacious, warm, comfortable and very well-equipped.

It is well situated, especially for exporing further north from Scarborough, and there are buses into town and to Whitby only a short walk away.

Sanderling is a home from home experience.

For a second time this year we've stayed at Sanderling and once again thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's a credit to the owners other guests return, as have we, which is testament this holiday bungalow offers everything you need for a perfect stay in a quiet location, near to all amenities. Lovely bungalow set in a peaceful neighbourhood, just a couple of miles from all the amenities of Scarborough, a few minutes walk from scalby village.

Warm and welcoming on our arrival, with everything you need, biscuits and cakes, such a lovely touch. Very clean and a credit to the owners, we would have trouble in booking again.

It is a spacious bungalow situated in a quiet area, close to the village centre and the Cinder Track for "walkies". The attractive garden with a table and chairs is fully enclosed. The owners have put a lot of thought in to ensure quests and their doggy companions are exceptionally well catered for.

Well equipped facilities, brilliant garden for our Westie Zak. The welcome pack was also brilliant and we will come back again.

The Sanderling is absolutely gorgeous.

I stayed here with my dad. Beautiful bungalow, everything was spotlessly clean. The garden is beautiful and fully enclosed for dogs. One dog allowed, but I asked permission for a second and the owners very kindly agreed. Tea, coffee, sugar and various yummy treats were left for us as well as doggy treats. The Cinder Track (26 mile walk to Whitby and/or Robins Hood Bay is literally a few houses down the road. Fantastic if you are a walker or a have a bicycle. Couple miles down the road is Peasholme Park and North Bay. The No 10 bus which runs on the hour and every half hr takes you into Scarborough. I cannot recommend this bungalow enough and I will definitely be booking again in the future.

Sanderling is a little gem of a find.

We really enjoyed our holiday in this very comfortable, spotlessly clean accommodation. Well done to the owners attention to detail, much appreciated, this ensured we had a hassle free stay in this lovely bungalow. We couldn't find fault with anything and would highly recommend the property. We had such a happy time, the week flew by and hope one day to return.

Very pet friendly

The bungalow was a very nice place to stay.

It was well equipped, clean and warm. The on drive parking was easy, the patio was nice to sit out on and the garden was very pleasant. In terms of location, you could walk into the centre of Scarborough on the cinder track in about 40 minutes and Scalby Mills/ Sea Life Centre was about a 20 minute walk. There was lots to do in the area and we would certainly go back to Sanderling.

Sanderling was everything we would have expected from Sykescottages.

co.uk and even more from the owners. They had gone that extra mile with our welcome pack. Just to say we were so impressed we have booked again for 2024. Regards Jeanette and family Northamptonshire

We had a very enjoyable stay at Sanderling again.

Very clean on arrival. Welcome drinks, biscuits etc is a very nice touch. Was happy with the new electric cooker. Didn't use the new fire as weather was very mild for the time of year. Would return in the future, thank you

Had a lovely week at Sanderling with my friend.

We found the property very comfortable, exceptionally clean and well equipped. The furnishings are a little dated but this is reflected in the photographs so no surprises there and it certainly wouldn’t stop us booking again. Great place to stay with lots of beautiful places to visit. Very nice pub within a 10 min walk. Also received a very helpful email from the owner a couple of days before arrival. One useful addition to the kitchen equipment would be a set of good sharp knives and some bigger wine glasses! Other than that…absolutely perfect!

Lovely Bungalow, in a very peaceful area.

Some great walks for the dog too. Everything you could wish for and only 5 mins drive to North beach and Peasholm park. And well located for days out to Whitby or Bridlington. Would definitely like to visit again.

It was well equipped with plenty of crockery and cutlery. Thoughtful welcome items which were much appreciated. Pleasant garden. Would certainly want to come again.

Lovely property, exceptionally clean and well set out.

Just a couple of things, one of the settees was a little tired and lumpy. We found the double bed slightly uncomfortable but after a couple of nights we slept better (must have got used to it). Everything else was brilliant, it was quiet and peaceful, which is just what we needed. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will definitely come again.

We really enjoyed our stay that much we've booked another week in August.

Everything anyone could possibly want. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Plenty of storage space in all rooms, including space for shopping in the kitchen.

The cottage is spotlessly clean, comfortable and warm. The ideal winter retreat.

We were fortunate to spend a week in this amazing bungalow over the festive period.

Sanderling was very clean and well equipped and had the added bonus of being close to our family. The owners had added little Christmas touches and we arrived to a festive welcome pack, we couldn't fault anything and would definitely recommend to friends and Family

Spot on in every way and located so that you can venture out to all points of interest. Great eateries nearby. Our dog loved "The Cinders Trail", even saw a Barn Owl in flight. A real gem. Thanks for the break......

The Bungalow was lovely very clean and warm.

The garden was safe and secure and the security lights enabled us to see her if she went out in the dark. It was also great that we received advice from the vendor that we could arrive earlier than previously advised. What made our stay even nicer were the little extras like the dog towels and welcome pack. We would stay again.

The personal touches are fantastic, we took washing up liquid and toilet rolls and other bits till we went shopping, but you really don’t need to.

. there was a few bits there for a good few days. Plenty of towels and even dog towels. The beds are so comfortable and it is so quite, peaceful and not over looked.. recommend 100%

The bungalow was beautiful it was so clean and it had everything you needed there was even milk in the fridge tea ,coffee,biscuits sugar,salt and pepper even some chocolates.

Kim the owner and her husband were very nice people. The area was very nice and it was so quiet a lovely area of Scalby.

Sanderling is a well appointed clean, warm bungalow in a lovely village with very pleasant inhabitants and very quiet neighbours.

There are two very good tea rooms in the village with pleasant staff and tasty food. There are also two good pubs serving food in the village. The mixed business there is very well stocked. The bungalow is conveniently situated for visiting other areas. The owner Kim is lovely.

Warm comfortable furniture and ideally situated for dog walkers and cyclists as it is only 150.m. from the cinder track which runs for 23.miles. i would suggest the owners could make a little more room in the garage to store cycles.

This was an immaculate holiday home.

It had everything you needed and the information folder was very helpful. Having the Cinder Track at the end of the road was great for walking my dog. My 83 year old Mum loved it too.

This bungalow is in a very quiet cul-de-sac.

The only noise we heard was the click of cyclists changing gear on the way to the delighful finder track country walk. Scalby village is a short walk away. The North beach 8 minutes in the car. Good sized rooms, good WiFi, very happy.

It had everything we needed and was very clean. The garden is big and well kept so perfect for the children to play in. We all very much enjoyed our holiday at Sanderling and are likely to return!

Sanderling was one of the nicest self catering pet friendly holiday places we have stayed in.

The bungalow was very clean and comfortable and in a beautiful location,so quiet and peaceful.There is a path at the end of the cul- de- sac which leads to the Cinder Track and the views are lovely,it's great for taking the dog a nice long walk.We really appreciated the welcome pack which even included treats for the dog. The facilities were very good the owners have thought of everything to ensure their guests have a comfortable stay. We definitely would stay there again in the future.

The beaches where just 1 3 5 minute drive away and they to were beautiful, We had a brilliant and relaxing holiday. We would book again at the Sanderlings 10 out of 10 for everything.

Ideal for a few days away from it all!

A warm, comfortable, quiet, and surprisingly spacious bungalow.

Furnished and equipped with quality items, even the walls have original artwork. Open countryside is within yards, and miles of cycling away from traffic is ideal for children and adults. To see and hear Skylarks in February only yards from the cottage was wonderful. The local lanes are almost deserted and worth exploring for stunning scenery. For photographers, Staithes is brilliant - even the cobbled streets shine in the rain. Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby Abbey are also within easy access. We must return to explore south of Scarborough - the puffins on the cliffs and unspoilt/old fashioned Filey.
