Carisbrooke House, Apartment 6

I very much enjoyed my stay.

The flat has characterful sloping ceilings and is beautifully furnished and decorated. It was clean and comfortable and there was nearly everything I could want in the kitchen, though customarily Sykes properties supply items like soap, tinfoil, washing up liquid and kitchen towel. It might be worth warning people to bring their own or risk paying corner shop prices. I used my phone as a hot spot for WiFi; I bought extra data in case, but in fact I didn't need it. I have docked just one point for facilities and maintenance, first because the flat lacks a chopping board and mirrors low enough for a 5ft person to see more than the top of their head (mentioned in an earlier review), and second because the heater broke and could not be fixed during my stay.

I had a perfect stay at Carisbrooke House.

The owner was very kind and communicative with me before my stay so I was aware of how everything worked and he wanted me to have the best time possible which is reflected in the quality of the accommodation. It’s immaculately cleaned, spacious and comfortable. Very central location to the beach and town centre of Scarborough but also peaceful and quiet so you can enjoy your time in the apartment and get a good sleep. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Peaceful and relaxing.

Cosy and comfortable flat. Beware you need to be fit to manage the stairs. Brilliant location for town centre, beach and public transport. Owner friendly and contactable by phone. Parking ok. Scarborough is a great place.

Super apartment.

Easy to find. Off street parking a bonus. It's clean inside. The bedding was super fresh I couldn't wait to get in it! The owner called to give me the low down on how to get into town, supermarkets etc and was very helpful in general. I would definitely stay again. It's worth noting that there is no WiFi - I was aware when I booked and it wasn't an issue for me. 4G signal was slow but I did get a signal. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here.

The flat was lovely and comfortable, and clean.

The apartment is clean, comfortable and has everything you need in a holiday home.

It is within walking distance to Scarborough town centre and railway station. This is our second time staying here and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The bed is very comfortable. It's a home from home and has everything you need. It's near the beach and in a nice location. There's a parking space as well next to the property. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend.

We've stayed at Carrisbrook several times now.

Always feels homely. Very clean. Well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Well located in a quiet area, but just a short walk into the town itself. There's no doubt we'll be back again.

The flat is comfortable and well equipped.

Arrival information given beforehand is clear and easy to follow. The parking space provided is a definite benefit. In addition to the flat itself being ideal for two, its location is great. Town, the promenade and South Bay are all within a short walk. During our stay there was very little noise within the building or from outside, ensuring a peaceful break.

The apartment was clean and basic, quite a few things we felt were missing to make it much better.

No long mirror, no coat hooks, no bath mats either for in the bath or for the floor to get out on. No wifi , no microwave pots, not important for us but bathroom door wouldn’t lock, bed very comfortable, my husband uses text on the tv so he was disappointed that wasn’t available. After self catering for more than 20 years, we felt much could be done to make the apartment much better. But we had a good holiday.

Brilliant position for a walk to the beach and town and bus station as we used the excellent bus service to Whitby.

The beach was great and a sea swim with a hot drink at the Beachcomber cafe on the beach great.

I am not normally one to leave reviews but after my stay ay the Carisbrooke House apartment I felt compelled to write a reveiw.

My wife and I had booked the apartment over the bank holiday weekend as a break away and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Apart from the great weather the apartment was absolutely fabulous and like a home from home. The apartment was well maintained and really clean and had all the essentials you would need for a stay away from home. The added bonus as mentioned in other reviews is the use of off road parking which enabled us to leave the car parked the whole weekend and explore the delights of Scarborough without having to think about parking. The owner Andy is a really nice chap who spent time going through all we needed to know about the property and also useful information about what to do in Scarborough plus where the local amenities could be found. All in all a totally enjoyable experience and stress free stay. We will defintley be comming back to visit and stay here again. Thank you Andy from Mike & kathryn

The apartment was very comfortable with everything we needed.

It is a great base from which to explore the Yorkshire Moors and coast.

Two negative issues - 1st the stairs please be aware the apartment is on 3rd floor; 2nd - No internet - would happliy have paid extra for use of internet.

However lots of positives - Andy the owner couldnt have been more helpful or welcoming, apartment very well laid out, whilst the freezer is described as table top it has adequate space - no issue really. Parking space absolute bonus - proximity to all of the amenities Bars, Restaurants makes it easy to enjoy what Scarborough and local are offersoffers. Brlliant experence - thankyou.

This was a very clean and homely property, all kitchen appliances you need.

The owner is a very nice man, nothing was too much trouble for him. The property is VERY close to the beach and shops. I loved my stay and would definately book this property again and again

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the flat and it's convenience for walks, shops etc was ideal for us.

We have stayed here before, the stairs to the flat at first seem a little daunting but I think that because you are carrying your luggage but after that all is fine.

The situation of the flat is ideal for the town or beach which are only 5-10 minutes away. The bed is really comfortable and everything in the flat makes for a real pleasant stay

Carisbrooke House is ideally located to both town and beach.

The apartment is nicely furnished, and kitchen has everything needed for a self catering stay. Andy provided the necessary information with regard to operating instructions re: heating, water, local hostileries etc during the key collection phone call. The parking space provided with this apartment is a real bonus. During our stay, the building was quiet and did not give us any cause for complaint. The building is an older property, and as such has character related to age. Care needs to be taken when walking through the communal garden in poor weather due to uneven steps (this is in keeping with the local area), however, it is only a short detour to walk round via the road. We would definitely stay here again.

Talked to the owner, a lovely chap gave me the rundown on things, the off road parking was a boon.

The flat is in a good location five minutes from the beach and also the town

This is a lovely apartment with the benefit of it's own parking space.

It was very comfortable and very near to the centre of Scarborough so you could just walk through the garden and in 10 minutes you are at the sea. We did have a problem with the washing machine but it was fixed within 2 days which was great. The owner Andy was very helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Overall a very enjoyable stay and if we go to Scarborough again, we will definitely try to stay here.

We just enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this apartment.

We were very clear from the listing as to what to expect and so we brought tea/coffee and our own wifi hotspot. There is also a washing machine provided but as we only stayed 3 nights we didn't need it, but it would be have been really handy if we'd stayed for longer. There's everything you could possibly need, it's very well kitted out and even has it's own off-road parking space! The whole place felt really cosy and homely, the pictures don't do it justice. The only downside I could see was the stairs. If you have mobility issues at all please be aware that there are a lot of stairs. It wasn't a huge deal to us though and is mentioned in the listing. Would we come back?- absolutely yes!

Lovely property, Andy was helpful and informative.

He even left us a bottle of Prosecco which we thought was a lovely gesture. The property is in a great location and has everything you need. The only improvements I would suggest are some hooks to hang coats, and also a larger mirror in the bedroom. Other than that we had a great stay.

The flat is cosy, clean, and excellent for 2 people. Even has its own dedicated off road parking spot. Excellent base for exploring Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and the Moors.

Having stayed at Carisbrooke House, Apartment 6 before, we knew it was going to meet our expectations and needs once again.

Everything was according to plan so no issues.

This was a lovely flat: in a quiet residential area, well-appointed, comfortable and a short walk to the beach and into town.

The parking space was a real bonus and Andy, the owner, was kind enough to let us park there early. He is a mine of information too which meant we settled in quickly. We are planning to go back already! Having stayed in so many second-rate properties, this was an eye-opener and we really enjoyed our week there.

Great location. Was great to relax here after a days outing. Found directions that Andy had left in folder were very helpful. Good for getting to top end of town. You needto be able to climb stairs - but once you are there , it is very comfortable indeed. Tried the "Cask" a couple of times. Cheap & cheerful. Good wifi & BT Sport. Would definately recommend.

Just returned from a very pleasant two weeks at Carisbrooke House.

The apartment is lovely and very comfy with everything needed, close to town, bus routes, shops and seafront. We would definitely book again and would like to thank Jackie and Andy for a great break.

27709 is a basic apartment.

It served our needs whilst staying there for a long weekend visiting family in the area but certainly not in the same class as other Sykes properties we have stayed in. After a 3 hour car journey and stairs up to the top of the property tea/coffee facilities would have been expected but there was no welcome at all Workmen arrived to undertake work in the bathroom on our departure date at 9 am this made our packing up quite difficult some notice of this intrusion should have been made previously We certainly wont be returning to Carisbrooke House

We had a brilliant time and would recommend this flat to everyone it was a fantastic flat

The apartment was clean, comfortable, quite well equipped and conveniently located.

We found the choice of Freeview TV channels to be very limited but this may be due to general limits in the area.

Ideally located,and we found it a very peaceful location. Well located for the town and all services. Suited the wife and myself 100%. Will certainly use the accommodation again.

The Apartment was as listed, a very smart Clean Accommodation perfectly Located for the Town and Beach, and having the on site car parking included was a Great help as parking is very expensive and difficult to access.

I would certainly recommend this Apartment.

We found the stairs up to Carisbrooke house apartment 6 a bit daunting but other than that we had a lovely stay in the apartment everything is provided for you and it was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable fab stay

Idealy located on a quiet street, with a nice stroll into town or the harbour.

The appartment was spotlessly clean and everything you needed in the kitchen area for a lovely self catering break. Lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Great communication with the owner Mr Hague thankyou. Will deffo be booking again. 5* service. Kind regards. Happy holiday maker.

Apartment was immaculate but could have done with a pair of oven gloves and a bath mat.

Minor niggle in that a different shower head might stop water going all over the bathroom.

The apartment was amazing, exceeded all expectations!

The photographs on the website don't do it justice, the lounge area and bedroom were far larger than expected but still really cosy - like a home from home. The only criticism I have is that with some of the ceilings and beams being low and with me being quite tall, I did bang my head a few times. Aside from that everything was perfect, the location was remote enough for both me and my fiance (he proposed in the apartment!!) as there was a 5 minute shortcut straight to the south bay beach. I wouldn't recommend this apartment for older couples as it can put quite a strain on your legs walking everywhere, but if like us you enjoy being active and walking about you'll do just fine. The apartment provided facilities to suit all needs although I'm not sure what use a washing machine is if there is nowhere to dry clothes (luckily we brought enough of everything to last). Will definitely be re booking next year!
