    “What a fabulous stay.”

The house is lovely; a little run down in some bathrooms but they are doing it up and the price was more than reasonable. The host is spacious and welcoming. Lovely to arrive to biscuits, tea and wine and toiletries on the beds, and to be welcomed by the owner. The little tuck shop with the honesty box was a lovely touch. We really felt valued and we had a fab stay. We would love to return.

The property

Resting in the bustling seaside town of Scarborough is the Victorian townhouse, Sanderling.

Set over three floors and found in a tree lined square across the road from the county cricket ground, Sanderling is a pleasing setting for your next trip to the North Yorkshire coast, within easy reach of the North York Moors National Park.

Be welcomed into the generous sitting room where you and your guests can cosy up on the ample seating and enjoy your favourite film on the TV as the gas fire crackles nearby.

Whip up delicious home-cooked meals in the galley kitchen, which has everything you need, as your guests pop open a bottle of fizz and lay the dining room table, with the dining room seating the whole group and home to French doors leading to a fully enclosed rear garden.

Just off the kitchen, you will find a convenient utility/snug, where there is a handy washing machine, as well as further seating and a TV for those wanting a little peace and quiet.

Those looking to continue the night can enjoy a wide selection of books, puzzles and board games in the games room.

Completing the ground floor is the bathroom, where you can enjoy a hot soak before retiring to the first floor where you will discover three beautifully decorated bedrooms, a double with en-suite cloakroom, a king-size with TV and en-suite shower room and a single with basin.

You and your guests will also benefit from a first floor cloakroom, ideal for a quick freshen up before heading out.

Climb the stairs to the second floor where you will find an additional three bedrooms, including a double with en-suite shower room, a twin with two basins and a single room with basin, ensuring ideal sleeping arrangements for all parties.

Head out to the front patio with a bench to enjoy your morning coffee in the fresh ocean air, and to the rear there is an enclosed lawn with furniture and a barbecue so you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining.

Sanderling is just a short walk away from the golden sand North Bay Beach in Scarborough, the North Bay Railway which offers seaside rides on a 19th century train and the medieval shoreside castle, as well as the stunning Peasholm Park which is set around a lake with Japanese gardens, a pagoda and replica boat battles.

Scarborough is also bustling with shops, bars and eateries, a second golden beach known as South Bay, the unusual Rotunda Museum, the popular Sea Life Aquarium, two golf courses, an open-air theatre and Alpamare Waterpark, which boasts four slides, a wave pool and a spa with a sauna and steam room.

If you can tear yourself away, take a short drive into the North York Moors which is a high moorland full of wooded river valleys, religious ruins and ageless villages, or alternatively head into the seaside town of Filey to explore another lovely beach or the scenic Filey Brigg Country Park.

Sanderling is a spacious dwelling for a group escape to the lovely seaside resort of Scarborough, and the nearby surrounding areas.
