Lowdale Barns East

We had a great stay.

Just a couple of miles from Whitby Park & ride so ideal. In a peaceful location yet near to amenities, one couldn't ask for better.

Had an absolutely amazing time at the Barn.

We walked to Whitby from the Barn and visited Robin Hoods Bay and the Moors. Accommodation was clean and the owner is lovely and everything we needed was available. Rachel even left us an Easter Egg and a bottle of Prosecco plus milk for a cuppa on arrival. Will definitely be going back.

we both call this place our second home been coming for years just love it and the owners are amazing

The cottage is in a beautiful location and the Red Deer that came to the back door was a big bonus.

There has obviously been a lot of thought and attention to detail gone into the cottage. All the fittings worked perfectly and the bed was very comfortable. The peace and quiet was just what we wanted. We would highly recommend this property. Our only little criticism is the extraction fan in the bathroom, it sounds like a low flying aircraft when switch on but that wouldn’t stop us booking again.

We enjoyed our stay in the converted barn which looks very nice and good attention to detail .

I feel a cobweb brush could be used on the walls especially the bathroom . The weather temperature went quite low in the evenings and as the underfloor heating wasn’t on it was quite chilly and I am glad I had brought two hot water bottles which my husband and I had to use every night . I think there should be a heater provided that could be used for chilly evenings if the proprietor doesn’t want to put the heating on . Otherwise it was well situated to go to lots of lovely places .

Although this property has been beautifully renovated I was very disappointed.

The freezer box in the fridge had so much ice in it it couldn't be used. There was just the one toilet whih was on the holder, no spare bin bags, one piece of a Jay cloth, no spray to clean the worktops, and no kitchen roll. I though we might be able to let our dog out on the garden but there was no fence so we couldn't let her out. Therefore we couldn't sit with door open onto the garden in case she got out. The bath towels were only of a medium size I wouldn't have classed them as a bath towel. This was not a cheap holiday and I feel it should have been property equipped. I went to the co-op in Whitby and it cost me £14 to get all the above mentioned items. Therefore I wouldn't go back to this property.

For the price and Sykes rating I do not understand how 5 star was achieved.

Kitchen poorly equipped. 1 small oven tray, tiny saucepans and frying pan. No tea towel provided, no sugar with the welcome tea & coffee sachets. Bathroom the fan is extremely noisy, no hand soap, no toilet brush. Poor quality towels, 5 star I would expect bath sheets (The towels I have for the dog are better quality) Bedroom, adequate. I may suggest providing a blanket. I was cold on the Saturday night yes even though it was August. Overall was clean however I would suggest doing a deep clean once in a while. Cobwebs over the lighting, behind the WiFi, on the door blinds. Walls need a scrub where people have rubbed on them and the floor needs a good scrubbing not just a mop. Dog friendly- you may want to add on the advert that you don’t allow dogs in the bedroom or on any furniture. The garden is poorly maintained. I agree with other reviews that a picket fence to allow the doors to be left open and dogs secured in the garden would be beneficial. I am sure you attract the bookings because of the close proximity to Whitby however you could raise your holiday lets to the next level with more attention to details and luxury furnishings / amenities in your properties. We have stayed in many holiday lets and never been expected to bring the kitchen pans from home to be able to cook a full meal nor have I packed hand soap and tea towels.

Great accommodation in a beautiful, peaceful spot.

Perfect for quiet and relaxing holiday but still only 10mins drive into Whitby or 10min walk into Sleights. Kitchen very well equipped, Outdoor area great for sitting, sunshine, reading etc and for the dog - although there’s no fence so you’d have to watch if your dog is a wanderer (especially if any guests in the other half of the building weren’t dog lovers!). Fully understand that it’s a converted stable building so there are limited options for windows without changing character of the place…suggest proving a fan for hot nights for guests who don’t want to sleep with the glass doors open. That’s a minor issue though, overall a great place for a relaxing break, than you

It is a nice converted barn with a lovely outlook at the rear of the property, but when we arrived there was a pool of water on the floor in the bedroom at the bottom of the bed which we had to mop up.

Also the freezer compartment of the fridge had so much ice in it that the freezer door would not shut. The shower room fan was very noisy,The property did not have any windows just the four glass doors so it was not possible to have any ventilation without leaving the doors open.A problem for us was the chemicals in the cleaning products used but probably not a problem for most people.Another problem for us was the long rough track/road leading to the property and this should be included in the property description. We would not have booked it if we had known about it. This is just constuctive feedback about our stay and we think people should know before booking.

Lovely location and property however for the price which was four and a half star rating, I would have expected for this to be reflected .

There were aspects that let this down greatly as follows: 1. No bin bags- which was listed as included 2 No dishwasher tablets ( we get this everywhere else and in lower star properties) 3. No hand soap! In toilet. Garden is very unkempt certainly not expected for this price. As dog friendly I would have expected enclosed garden, although the dog next door was also frequently in attendance during our stay so highlights need for it to be enclosed and private. A little picket fence would sort this issue? Little touches go along way when paying high prices for holiday rentals such as welcome pack some properties really do spoil you With these ! And for this reason we won't be staying again.

Lowdale barn east is a lovely property in a beautiful area.

It’s quiet & lots of nature to be seen . The cottage is spacious & has everything you need , everything about it is perfect .Dog friendly too which is always a bonus. The added touch of milk in the fridge , tea & coffee bags & biscuits is thoughtful . Ideal for visiting Whitby, Scarborough, saltburn , staithes lots of lovely places. Perrys plants garden centre is worth a visit & just a few minutes in car or about 20 minute walk. Overall great cottage in a fab area.

Amazing property in beautiful surroundings we couldn’t ask for more lovely walks beautiful countryside.

This was not our first visit to this cottage and like the other times the cottage didn't disappoint.

It is a clean and well maintained property and we will definitely be back again.

Beautiful location if you want to be secluded but within a short drive of facilities.

Tastefully decorated, warm and cosy. Bed very hard so caused issues with sleeping. Pump in bathroom very loud so avoid turning light on in middle of night!

Lovely accommodation comprising one main room , one bedroom, one bathroom.

Warm, clean, nice decor. Beautiful area. Lots of walks all around & close to Whitby & villages.

This as we expected is a small for two people farm barn conversion next to a very large mansion house who were no doubt the owners.

It is a clean and tidy cottage with basic facilities (enough for two) but as we expected no washing machine. The bedroom was cosy and the bed comfortable in King size and area quiet day and night. The views from the backside of the cottage were good with an outdoor table and two chairs for the nicer warm days. The doors on either side of the cottage are full glass frames so privacy is an issue and you will at most times need to keep the blinds closed. There are no side windows only two roof windows for lighting. The TV works well but you only have freeview and a basic DVD player (not blue-ray). All in all Sleights is a great place with all the local amenities with a chippy (great), post office, butchers, small supermarket and Plough pub. Access to the cottage is via a single track farm road through sheep grazing fields. Its not too muddy just a bit bumpy so take it easy. But be warned for the sporty HO-HA henrys with flashy low level cars you find access difficult unless you want your exhaust ripped out.

The property was very clean, well decorated and had all the facilities you will need for your break.

It is also very close to all the main tourist destinations in North Yorkshire. We had a minor problem with the broadband and the owner came round and sorted it. We had our dog with us and there are some lovely walks from the property.

When arriving at the cottage it was noticeable that it was all clean and tidy.

The bedroom was a good size with a comfortable bed. Shower was a good size and lots of hot water. Kitchen small but adequate, fridge a good size and kitchen fairly well equipped. There is a dishwasher but don’t forget your own dishwasher tablets as not provided. Area the cottage is in, is quiet and peaceful with walks from the cottage and lots of areas to visit by car.

The holiday cottage was very clean and if you want peace and quiet then this is the place to be.

Close to Whitby, Goathland and beautiful countryside. A convenient place to stay if you’re a dog owner. Very enjoyable.

We have just returned home after having another fabulous week.

. We went into barn West last year and East this year.. We love them both and have already booked to return to east next year.. The place is really light and comfortable.. Couldn't complain about anything.. Tilly our Jack Russel settled in OK..

Very dog friendly as it has a footpath from the back door and a footpath from the front door.

Easy access to Sleights village and all its amenities, either by road or footpath.. Easy access to the North York Moors and the coast. Good place to stay all round. If circumstances allow we will certainly come back

We loved the accommodation and surrounding area.

Couldn’t fault anything about it. There might have been one little thing that it would have been good to have had. Holidaying with a dog it would have been nice to have had a small enclosed area at the rear with maybe a little picket fence, so that our pup could have a little wander without the lead, whilst we could sit with the door open. Thank you for providing this lovely accommodation - we hope to visit again.

A little disapointed in our stay, no mention that you have a public walk across your garden, people looking into your bedroom, you can pull shutters down at the doors if you want to be in the dark all stay, theres no windows to open at night so gets stuffy, only a door off the bedroom onto the public walk.

The road to the place is a horrible farm track so if you have a nice car be prepared for a bumpy dirty trek up and down, you can see why the owners drive a landrover, the son i presume has the loud exhaust car right outside your lounge, noisy in and our, on the whole clean enough place. Sorry would not return.

Perfect location .

Peaceful , private and surrounded by countryside. The barn is well appointed and well maintained. Our 2nd visit and couldn’t stay anywhere else when we come to this area.

this was our third christmas here and have already booked our christmas 2024 here just love it here the owner is amazing

Lovely place to stay, owners are nice.

Gorgeous barn conversion. The road down to it is a little bumpy so wouldn't advise a low car.

Positives Beautifully finished barn conversion, adequately comfortable Underfloor heating easy to use Lovely part of the world Great butchers - try the Barnsley lamb chops Bakery.

- superb Negatives Have an awareness that there are NO WINDOWS, it was warm during our stay and the doors aren't an option for sleeping. This was something I overlooked on booking and it had been mentioned in earlier reviews. As people highlighted before the blinds are thin and the external lights have sensors that go off throughout the night and it did disturb our sleep, to the point that we went home a day early. The courtyard setting is very much for the owners use,not for either of the conversions and as such their vehicles can disturb you. The other things taking your own hand wash, dishwasher tablets, tin foil and bin liners are now added to our list for future reference. Enjoyed our visit to that part of the world, but wouldn't be returning.

Comfortable, clean cottage.

Bathroom clean and spacious plenty of hot water. Bedroom warm, plenty of storage and bed comfortable. Lounge/dining/kitchen spacious and comfortable. Enough cutlery for two people. Would be nice if you changed the bath towels to larger ones for next year. The cottage is on the outskirts of the village down a lane so it’s very quiet yet easy access by car to many areas of beauty.

Beautiful property in a great Location just outside Whitby, the property has everything you could ask for and is very comfortable, modern and well equipped with everything, would highly recommend.

Thanks for sharing your lovely concerted barn.

Did say there was fencing around property for people with dogs not anything like never mentioned there was a public foot path outside back door which is frequently used so difficult if you have a dog probably better not having people stay with dogs

The property is in a fantastic location.

Open fields to the rear of the property, the patio has full sun for most of the day. The area full of local walks, and 10 min away from the railway station and bus stops. Disappointed with towels bleach stained and old. The crockery is well used but adequate. Cleaning materials available. The only big issue was the lack of opening windows, to get air into the property one had to leave doors open, not safe at night,

Nice conversion, comfortable sofa and bed which could have been better if it had the correct size duvet on.

Good size shower room with rainfall shower But no extractor which meant room stayed wet for a long time, probable cause of twisted difficult to shut door and no hand soap. The toilet seat also needs replacing, very slow WiFi, key safe difficult to use, next number moves when inputting code. No visitor book, no info on local pubs or restaurants, towels very hard and small, garden very overgrown not like photos in details,

Really needs some blackout blinds/curtains for the bedroom it was bright daylight at 3.

30/4.00am in the room we’ve come back more tired than when we went, there was a cream pleated blind up on the doors but were more for privacy than anything didn’t stop the light coming in also no windows to open in barn for when it was warm ok for having door open day time when in but wouldn’t sleep with door left open at night

Just small niggles which we see have been stated before / dirty cutlery in drawer, dirty cups in cupboard.

No bin bag for rubbish. Generally clean but could do with that extra touch throughout the accommodation.

Great location for the coast around Whitby.

Parking in Whitby itself is a challenge so being able to grab a bus / train was ideal. The cottage itself was well equipped and comfortable. Lovely decor! Sleights has a great local bakery, butcher and fish and chip shop!

This is a fantastic holiday property.

It was clean and fully functional. The decor was immaculate. It is situated conveniently for a quick 10 min drive into Whitby. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Beautiful cottage with delightful views.

Beautifully presented cottage for two people in an idyllic location with lots of lovely walks nearby.

The cottage itself was lovely, but we could not find instructions for the underfloor heating so we had to experiment to get this working, but once we figured it out it was wonderful and the cottage retained the warmth long after we had turned it off. Would benefit from a mop or something to wipe away wet paw prints. Although we always cleaned our dog before she came into the cottage there were a couple of times when she was quicker than us!! The bed was the best we have ever slept in a holiday cottage.

WE HAD AN EXCELLENT STAY.

NICE AND QUIET FOR A RELAXING STAY. EASY ACCESS TO WHITBY BY BUS. CONVENIENT FOR THE MOORS. NICE LOCAL PUB, FISH SHOP & BUTCHERS IN THE VILLAGE

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and cosy, located in a beautiful place.

Unfortunately the heating stopped but an engineer had fixed it within 30 minutes of informing the property owner. The only negative point we can make was that the sound on the TV was very poor, making viewing difficult.

Once again we enjoyed our stay at Low Barns East.

The only slight problem was a frozen up ice box in the fridge, didn't cause us any problems, but it could do with being defrosted now and again. There is no really secure outside space around the cottage if you bring a dog with you, although this is pointed out before you come and it wouldn't stop us coming again, hopefully next year. We discovered that the pub, the Plough, has a really nice beer garden in the rear, and it's dog friendly. We also spent a little more time in Sleights this time and discovered some really good little walks around the place, the butcher's, Radfords, was as good as ever.

A nice property in a great location for exploring the East coast and North Yorkshire moors.

Rural setting with nice dog walks right from the doorstep. It was a shame that the owners didn't welcome us or acknowledge us in any way during our stay, which I found a bit odd. We were staying in the recent heat wave and found it extremely hot especially with no windows that could be opened throughout the property. Given other reviews from people staying in the property, I would of thought that a fan would have been provided! Also having a dog, we would have found it useful to have a vacuum cleaner and a mop and bucket rather than just a dust pan and brush. A BBQ would also have been nice.

Lovely property in ideal location for both moors and beaches.

The cottage was described accurately on the listing.

It was a good location and a comfortable enough stay. It is always a disappointment when there is not sufficient toilet paper provided for a week long stay and the very bare minimum in the way of cleaning products or dish cloths. There was a lot of dust on the beams which wasn’t very pleasant and nothing to open the ceiling windows to ventilate the place during the night. Being woken up at 8.15 on Monday morning by (presumably) the owners car being power washed right outside our bedroom window was a bit of a pain! Got the feeling we were rather tolerated than welcome! We had to go and buy some new pillows as the ones provided were uncomfortable and lumpy. We wouldn’t go back to that particular cottage again but the area is beautiful.

Very well maintained property ideal for walking people.

Farm track up to property is a little bumpy, but a great week was had!

Not dog secure at all

An ideal location especially for dog owners.

Helpful and pleasant hosts. The barn is well appointed with everything you could possibly need. Would defiantly recommend.

The accommodation is in a good location for visiting all the places of interest in the area.

It is well appointed to a high standard and is in a very peaceful setting.

Only fault was the table lamp didnt work.

Lowdale Barn was great for my needs. Beautifully decorated and comfy bed!

Lovely stay at Lowdale Barns East .

. Barn had everything that we needed and was clean and welcoming. Set in lovely surroundings, was peaceful and perfectly located for what we wanted to do.

Lovely property but some issues with cleanliness.

Grill pan and oven very dirty ..... and nothing to clean them with. Cutlery also not clean and the plug in the shower had clearly not been cleaned for weeks. Also very dusty floor in the bedroom.

this was our second year staying here we have stayed in both east & west barns the views are amazing and the both barns are beautiful the owners are so lovely would highly recommend staying here watching the owls and deer are fantastic to watch and the silence is golden the owners couldn’t do enough for you i could go on and on about this fantastic place thankyou for everything lots of love Tina xx

Ideal location to explore the Yorkshire Coast.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Barn was spacious and comfortable and on the whole had everything we needed. The underfloor heating ensured a warm welcome following days out in chilly December. We would recommend Lowdale East Barn without hesitation. Our only feedback would be that the barn listing states that there is no shaver point in the property and visitors would need to bring an adaptor to charge for example an electric toothbrush.

Great stay at Lowdale barns East, warm and comfortable property with most equipment required, beautiful rural setting but within walking distance to a friendly pub and great butchers/deli.

Close to Whitby, Pickering, Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes. Just one suggestion would be the availability of a velux pole as had the back door open for fresh air and had a visit from a dog walking on the foot path, we love dogs but did not want a muddy dog in the property. Great relaxing week, would definitely recommend.

Absolutely lovely property in a wonderful setting .

Open fields to the back of the barn. Furnishings modern with a touch of country. Only wish would be a washing machine and tumble dryer or facilities to wash and dry clothes. Other than that a really lovely holiday break

Beautiful location, very peaceful.

Cottage extremely nice and warm thanks to the underfloor heating. Fantastic shower with piping hot water, very comfortable bed. Great TV for evenings and everything we needed. Just a couple of suggestions having a dog it would have been handy to have a bucket or hosepipe fitted out back to clean her when coming in from muddy walks to save messing the barn. Also a kitchen roll and salt and pepper in the kitchen would have been handy plus some soap in the bathroom to wash hands. Only one little negative the security lights out the back shine straight into the bedroom. Apart from that would highly recommend this barn as it's a great base for exploring the beautiful area.

A wonderfull barn conversion let down by not having spare toilet rolls and no toilet ckeaning brush, no what you expect from top end accomodation.

The welcome pack was dismal compared to other holiday lets we have used.

We had a lovely week's holiday staying at Lowdale Barns East.

Great location for going to places in North Yorkshire. Would definitely stay there again. We cannot fault it in anyway. It was very clean

Fantastic location with easy access to the Yorkshire Moors.

Nicely presented cottage, perfect for a summer break.

Lowdale Barn is in a lovely, quiet location, with beautiful views and great for exploring the area.

The Property was clean and spacious but, we felt, was lacking in the personal touches for a luxury property. There wasn’t any kitchen cleaner, washing up liquid and only 1 toilet roll, whilst this isn’t a huge problem we would have expected the basics in a property like this. It is listed as dog friendly and some information about walking routes from the property would have been greatly appreciated. There is a public footpath which is mentioned but does run fairly close to the back of the barn and is used frequently, therefore may not be suitable for all dog owners. Saying that we thoroughly enjoyed our week here and would hopefully love to return.

This barn conversion cottage has two rooms and a shower room.

The views are lovely and the location is very quiet. It’s an excellent walking centre with footpaths from the doorstep. The accommodation is very simple, even basic. It’s listed as dog friendly but dogs are not allowed on the furniture or in the bedroom. Whitby and the Esk Valley villages are in easy reach by train or on foot. Steam trains from the wonderful North York Moors run through the local station regularly (but may not stop for passengers). If you like simple but attractively situated accommodation with plenty of good walks on your doorstep this is for you.

A wonderful comfy cottage in a lovely location.

Very peaceful and yet not far away from the village. Sleights has a Spar shop, butcher, and bakery as well as a pub and fish and chip restaurant. Whitby is only a few minutes Drive away. Great. We loved the outside seating area. We had everything that we wanted in the cottage. We would love to go back again very soon.

Lovely rural position, shame about lights on at the darkest times both back and front.

Lovely peaceful location with great views.

Very clean and cosy barn conversion, just right for two. Very comfy bed and great shower. Very friendly and helpful owners. Would love to come again.

Great accommodation, just like a home from home with everything you require to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

Although a little isolated this was a perfect base from which to explore the attractions in the surrounding area. Can highly recommend.

Yesterday evening I forwarded to you a fairly detailed account, together with photographs, of the grubby/unhygienic state of the property.

Please refer to my emailed account. Thank you.

What a beautiful comfortable place.

There is everything you need and more and the space for a 1 bedroom place is amazing.

Clean and spacious apartment with everything needed.

There would have been a few more touches pre covid (soft furnishings removed) but was still lovely. Would recommend.

The cottage was in a nice setting.

It was clean and very comfortable and modern and all on one floor. The views were fantastic. I can imagine it in spring when all the birds would be singing. All in all a very nice place.

Enjoyed staying here - perfect!

The lovely countryside situation of this property and the owners was a delight.

We will be back.

Excellent accommodation.

Clean, modern with everything you need. The shower was great and the bed comfortable. Set in a beautiful peaceful location but close to lots of great places to visit in this lovely part of the world. We had a really great holiday and I can't recommend this accommodation enough.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Lowdale Barns East.

The cottage was attractively furnished, clean, comfortable and well equipped and everything was in working order. It was a perfect place to retreat and relax after our days out on the beautiful Yorkshire coast.

very nice and clean holiday home, great for anybody who likes to watch wildlife on your doorstep.

owners very helpful but discreet. due to covid situation we felt very secure and safe at this property.

Couldn’t fault the property and the location is ideal, we will definitely be returning.

The owner had thought of everything, all utensils, pans, egg cups, various glasses, even bakeware and roasting tins etc. Very well thought out and it felt homely. All furniture and furnishings were a very high quality. We will find it difficult to find other properties that measure up to this one.

The owner was on site and we were allowed to go in the property early which was nice .

It was everything it said in the advert, we only had a problem with the settee and chair being low, but that's because we are ageing in years. But property brilliant..

The property is modern & very comfortable.

The location is ideal being close to Whitby but situated in a quiet rural area. The accommodation is well equipped & Rachael was very welcoming. We will return in the future!

We have used lowdale barns east 3 times now and the standards have never dropped .

we have booked again for june

Beautifully presented cottage but feel that mention should be made of the footpath close to rear of property and long track from road.

10 minute walk pub not open. Sykes presentation unrealistic ( wine and glasses etc) compared to two coffee sachets and two teabags and a packet of biscuits. No salt and pepper no sugar. We have had many cottage holidays and the provisions here were frugal. It’s sad as the cottage is lovely.

It was all we wanted, a beautiful place, inside and out.

So clean, and modern. lovely walks right on the door step. People so friendly on the walks, could not wish for anything better, we just love the place, can not wait to go back next year with our dog. so relaxing. Dog friendly where ever we went. Our dog just loved the walks all around use.

Would have liked more glasses to save hand washing rather than using dishwasher every 2 or 3 days along with cutlery etc

We both enjoyed our holiday and would return again

Barn is a very modern conversion from the stable block to the original Lowdale House.

Several reviewers have commented on the state of the long drive but the worst is the road past The Salmon Leap pub (now closed) and station. You can drive though a private tarmac road just after the Spar and butchers on you way into Sleights which is better. There is no secure dog area which some might find a problem our Greyhound goes on a lead because of wildlife so we were not concerned. Asked to park car beyond gate to paddock but it needs two people as a simple gate hook would stop the gate closing. No hover as we like to clean up before leaving just a brush and pan. I did think that the available tea/coffee etc was poor. One tea bag each and only one toilet roll. Notice asking not to put food down the sink but no kitchen towel to enable plates to be wiped and fat from pan. A trip to Spar was definitely needed. These are little niggles but having stayed in many Skyes Cottages I do think they could be improved.

My satnav had difficulty in locating the property.

I'm now aware that as the property is located off road on an unmade track it was unable to direct me without me asking someone for exact directions. The signposts showing LOWDALE HALL AND LOWDALE FARM could have been larger and more visible, Otherwise no problems. The owners were very welcoming so we would consider a further visit in the future.

Was nice to have a lovely barn , that was soo nice and dog friendly.

lovely walks for all.

This was one of the best small cottages that we have stayed in, everything that we required for our stay was on hand.

The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard, the bed is extremely comfortable and there is surprisingly quite a lot of room. It is very conveniently situated just outside Whitby and close to the moors. If you take a dog there are walks from the back door. The description should include that the property is at the end of an unmade farm track, that some vehicles (low level) might have a problem accessing.

Peace, perfect peace.

It is in a very quiet private area with beautiful surroundings. Sitting in the back patio in the evening was an absolute pleasure, watching so many different birds playing around, and, of course, rabbits scuttling around in the fields. Binoculars are highly recommended. Easy walking to the train station, and the local bus stop. Whitby really close, and also the moors are very close. Highly recommendable !

Wonderful stay.

Extremely comfortable bed. Very clean and tidy. Only complaint.....Outside space could be better. Back step to low and could do with part paved patio.

Great location so quiet and peaceful , lovely barn conversion very well decorated and very clean ,well equipped .

Lots of places close by to visit ,

Everything was perfect and we will definitely be booking again

we have been to this barn several times now and it is always very clean ,the owner is very friendly and the location is perfect for exploring the area,we have been in quite a few cottages and this one is the best one we have stayed in

A lovely comfortable place to stay that is ideally situated to explore the North Yorkshire coastline.

All was as described, very nice place with everything you would require.

Bed was comfortable, could do with more storage although from previous feed back a small wardrobe has been added. Walk in shower was of the overhead type, powerful and hot, no hand held, so ladies may need a shower cap. TV was a large free sat and if you have your Netflix login it is possible to get Netflix. Wi Fi was BT and fast with no drop out. Nice location with field all around. Well placed for Whitby, Robin hoods bay, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington as well as a host of other places. Try the Stables at Cross Butts for a good meal, not cheap but worth it, also the three Jolly Sailors Burniston on the way to Scarborough, cheaper but still good. Both serve hand pumped beer. Be aware that the location is down a gravel track. Luckily we were in a 4x4. if we had not taken the dog we would have gone in the MG and had to park else where. That being said access is ok for modern cars. Would recommend for either a quiet brake of a busy brake visiting the area.

The barn was exactly as advertised.

It was very clean and had great facilities. The WiFi was excellent. The hosts were very friendly. We had one small problem with the shower and Rachel responded very promptly. I would thoroughly recommend the property. It was an excellent base for walking straight from the barn and also only a 10 minute drive to Whitby. Also the local train station at Sleights was only 10 minutes walk away. The local butchers and bakers were excellent and not forgetting the fantastic fish and chip shop! We know when we have had a good holiday when we are sad to leave !!

Fantastic accommodation and beautiful peaceful setting.

Couldn't fault it. We have booked again for May and lookinging forward to our return. Many thanks to Rachel who was a lovely host.

The cottage is so wonderful , the interior is built to the highest spec, just loved it!

Had the most wonderful week at Lowdale Barns East.

The cottage was first class, lovely, cosy and comfortable. The milk and the biscuits were a nice touch and very much appreciated.Would highly recommend and nothing was too much trouble for Rachel.

We absolutely loved Lowdale Barns.

The accommodation was very clean, bed comfortable and the kitchen well equipped for a self catering holiday. We appreciated the little extras, foil, kitchen roll, cling film, dishwasher tablets etc and milk and biscuits on arrival are always welcome! We were a bit concerned that being a barn conversion we might feel cold - we needn't have worried the underfloor heating worked perfectly and we were always toasty and warm. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Lovely place to stay.

My wife and I and our golden retriever lewie had a great time. I would highly recommend. The barn has been finished to a very high spec. Had a few issues with the hot water with shower running cold sometimes. But when it was working the shower was great. Overall i wouldn't think twice about visiting again. :)

This is our 2nd visit to Lonsdale barns east this year,it is in a good location for exploring the area, the accomadation is very clean and tidy and owner was very friendly on our arrival.

will be returning again next year

Efficient service from Sykes as ever.

We had an excellent holiday.

The cottage was very clean and well equipped. It is very close to lots of interesting places to visit. The only thing that we could have been warned about was the public footpath that runs directly at the back of the cottage. I opened the blinds in my nightdress the first morning to be confronted by people walking their dogs. Not a problem once we knew but bit of warning would have saved any embarrassment!

Nothing

It's a lovely peaceful location, owners are very nice and welcoming, with everything you need in the village of Sleights.

Plenty of walks from the door, will definitely book this cottage again.

Warm, comfortable and clean Lowdale Barn is in a good position for touring the North Yorkshire coast.

It is dog friendly with some good local walks for exercising your dog. It is well equipped and the conversion has been carried out tastefully and sympathetically. It is in a quiet and peaceful position and our time there was very relaxing. Be aware that the private drive leading to the barn is heavily pot holed so drive very slowly.

The welcome we received was great this was our first experience of renting a cottage and we would recommend it to everyone.

Peaceful beautiful surroundings near the river Esk. Outdoor as well as indoor space. The Barns are extremely clean and well presented for us it felt like home from home. Great base to explore from.

The cottage was stunning.

Very Hugh standard and had everything to hand. The owner was so accommodating when we got there, fresh milk, tea, coffee biscuits and everything. A massive thank you, we had a great break x
