Cleanliness was appalling, considering there was supposed to be extra cleaning due to vivid this was far from evident. We did get a text to say we could get into the lodge 2 hours early than the 5PM normal time I just wish they had spent those 2 hours on cleaning the property. 1 crumbs left on worktop by toaster 2 crumbs and hair all over the floor in the kitchen area 3 old sock under the bed full of dust must of been there over a month 4 dirt dust and cobwebs behind every item of furniture 5 handmarks all over the coffee and dining table 6 half or 3/4 used soap dispensers left in bathroom and kitchen as part of covid i would expect either new bottles or none

Overall the lodge was amazing and provided us with a lovely break away with the family. Couple of negatives, the springs in the mattress on the mezzanine bed were broken and it slopped downwards making it quite uncomfortable and we couldn’t get the heated towel rail in the ensuite on the mezzanine to work. The lodge is fully stocked with cutlery, crockery etc. but that doesn’t leave any space in the kitchen cupboards to put the food we took with us so had to stack it up on the breakfast bar, hence leaving very little workspace. These were little issues which would not stop us from going back again if the price was right, we’ve looked for summer 2021 and prices are really expensive though.

The booking process for Bracken Howe Lodge was very straightforward as was the payment process. Information about our stay (e.g. check in and check out process, things to do) was sent out in advance and the site itself was very quick to respond to a direct question I asked them about whether you can get online groceries delivered to the site (you can by the way - you just need to meet the delivery van in the car par by the site entrance). The Ladycross site was very pleasant. It's nice and quiet and there is plenty of woodland in which you're free to roam. Bracken Howe Lodge was also lovely. It can be easy to quibble about lots of little things when writing reviews like this (e.g. it would have been nice if they'd provided this or that), but I don't think it's ever possible for the owners to think of every little thing to include in the lodge or to cater for absolutely everybody's tastes - all I can say is that overall both me and my family thought that this property was really good and we would recommend it.
Mr Jurowski
A beautiful lodge in a lovely area and campsite! Lisa was so helpful and on hand to answer any questions! Great space and excellent heating system... so lovely and cosy!
Mrs Sellars
My wife, 2 children, brother and sister in law and I went for a short 4 night stay at the Bracken Howe lodge. It was incredible, the lodge itself was stunning. So much so I want to build one myself! The staff were brilliant and the surrounding area of Whitby was excellent. Loads to do for everyone if you are looking to relax or go explore. Couldn't recommend highly enough. We had a wonderful time.
Mr Mckenzie
A stunning lodge in a beautiful location in easy access of Whitby. The hot tub was AMAZING & we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bracken lodge.
Was very dissatisfied with the way Sykes handled our booking, as we had to move the booking by 12 months due to COVID, and having paid in full, the 2021 booking was £156 cheaper. No refund was given, this is not good customer service so I would warn everyone be careful when booking you take out insurance as Sykes will not provide a refund. I will not be using them again. On a positive note the lodge was fantastic and would go again if I could book it direct.
Mr Rothwell
A 5 star lodge on a well run and peaceful site. The woodland walks are superb and good to wake you up! Hot tub is a definite bonus and was the perfect way to relax. Never  heard a soul during our stay. Just saw the rabbits, birds and chickens!!!  Could not recommend the lodge enough. No wonder it is fully booked all the time. Thank you from all of us especially Ollie xxx

We came out here for Kathryn's surprise 60th birthday. We all were stunned on how beautiful it was when we got here. Everything was well maintained and top notch! We drank plenty of gin and the hot tub was used every night! (Enough room for 6). The welcome pack was a nice touch when we got here.
Miss C Ali
We have had a lovely week in this beautiful lodge. The hot tub was great after days out sight seeing and was much needed after our 18 mile bike ride to Ravenscar and back! It is a lovely site in a great area. We will hopefully return one day!

The Bradburys - June 2018
The lodge was amazing, we get together as a group of friends from Uni for an early Christmas every year and we now have a mini member (Cora- just 2 years old) who loved the toy cupboard. The lodge is equipped to an extremely high standard, the checking in and correspondance was brilliant and was a lovely personal touch. The hot tub was clean, well kept and a lovely treat. The only problem is - we don't want to leave!!!
Brooke - Atherton & Co, Manchester - December 2017

A lovely lodge in a very peaceful location. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise. The lodge was very well equipped, home from home. Location was great for sightseeing around the local area and the hot tub great for when you got back after a day out. We hope to come back and stay again.
The Tomlinson Family August 2016
My husband and I chose to Bracken Howe Lodge for our honeymoon as I don't like flying. It was as stunning as the brochure showed. We were extremely pleased with everything about the lodge, the owners have certainly thought of everything from the welcome pack right down to wash powder which really puts the icing on the cake. We loved our time in the hot tub it was very rewarding after days out walking. Feeding the wildlife was certainly a bonus. An absolutely stunning lodge and we will definitely be bringing the family back.
Mr and Mrs Bates, Doncaster; April 2016
We had a great New Year break in the lodge. We have to say that the welcome and overall service we experienced is one of the best we have had. The lodge was perfect and enjoyed by all the family. The Toy cupboard was a dream for our two children (age 4 and 5) and everything was very well played with and investigated! It was great to welcome in 2016 in the hot tub with a bottle of bubbly! Thank you especially for prompt assistance when required - very much appreciated. We hope to stay with you again in the future. xxxx P.S. the welcome pack was such a nice touch!
The Peibst Family; January 2016
Beautiful lodge, very peaceful surroundings. Whitby was a great place - so much to do. We all especially enjoyed crabbing by the harbour at high tide and rowing at Ruswarp, lots of fun!
The Homer Family
This was our first visit to this part of the country; the setting of this accommodation is peaceful and tranquil, The interior decor was certainly to our liking and exceeded our expectations. The extras such as liquid soap, cleaning products and complimentary basket were very much appreciated. When we relaxed in the hot tub my teenage children insisted this was a 'must have' at home - definitely the icing on the cake! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends.
The Nash Family
6th – 13th October 2014 What a find, a fabulous property. This really exceeded our expectations - beautifully furnishes and equipped. The hot tub was well used - morning, noon and night. If it's missing when the next guests arrive, you'll find it at one of these addresses! We suggest guests fill the bird feeders as you'll be entertained every morning with an array of birds. We travelled around quite a bit during the week as this is an ideal base for reaching different places. The couple managing the reception were very friendly and helpful. We will sure to be back.
Haywood party, Birmingham
June 2015 What a fantastic find! A wonderful lodge with breath-taking surroundings - absolutely beautiful - especially whilst sat in the hot tub relaxing with a wine! The lodge is lovely and spacious, exceptionally clean and well-equipped. Our baby (15 months) absolutely loved the toy cupboard spending most of her time there! We've had such a fantastic weekend in Bracken Howe Lodge; everything has exceeded our expectations and we definitely will be returning and also recommending this park to our family and friends. Thank you very, very much!
The Bradbury/Williams/Buckley Party, Warrington/Manchester
June 2015 A gorgeous lodge in a peaceful and beautiful place. Everything first class! The hot tub a bonus enjoyed, especially by our little grandson. Thank you so much for the welcome pack. Really thoughtful and much appreciated! A very special retreat.
Mr and Mrs B Cox
June 2015 We've just spent a fabulous week at Bracken Howe Lodge - what a magnificent property. Languishing in the hot tub was so relaxing - a proper de-stress from our busy jobs. We decided to put wild bird food out each day and were treated to an entertaining ritual on the bird feeders every morning. Also, we saw tree creepers, a golden pheasant and a gold crest! This is in addition to the blue, coal and great tits, robins, jays and chaffinches. We feel so refreshed that we'd like to revisit next year.

We had a great stay! Gorgeous lodge (we want to live here). Really loved the hot tub, especially with snow and ice on the deck. Thank you for the welcome pack as we came in. My brother and I loved the cupboard of toys and went in there a lot for all the wonderful toys. We put some food and seed for the birds and my Granny and Grandad loved to watch them flying around the lodge, you could see the birds from the hot tub too. Thanks again, hope to come back soon (very soon).
Alice age 9 nearly 10. (And George!)
As soon as we entered Bracken Howe Lodge it gave us the wow factor! We all wanted to stay forever. We loved the hot tub, good fun and the kids thought the toy cupboard was awesome! Thank you for the lovely bag of goodies, a nice touch. A fab location seeing all the sights plus being located in the forest was peaceful. Loved it!
