Good size,good location.

Laminate flooring in bathroom has gaps in between the joins and toilet seat looking old and worn. There is a slight step about 1 inch out of bathroom and out of bedroom 2 could do with levelling or warning tape, this is a trip hazard. Could do with firmer mattress in bedroom 1 also bed feels very unstable. Tea stains on one of the cups. Overall pleasant enough but just needs a little more attention to detail. Thanks.

excellent, it's all been said! cliff top walks, (to the Whitehouse pub) down to the promenade or along the beach, .... our Labrador Holly is nearly 9 years old but on this beach she turns into a deranged, daft puppy jumping the waves and chasing Seagulls!! Lovely holiday home, thanks.

This is an absolutely brilliant apartment, it is full of all the equipment you could possibly need.

It is extremely clean. Parking permits are provided-it is really good. We have stayed her 16 times in 6 years and would not go anywhere else when staying in Whitby.

An absolutely fantastic stay.

Kept up to date from day one. Fantastic place to stay. We entered the flat and on arrival we were presented with a lovely gift, because we were staying here to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary. Flat had everything for our stay. Two good sized double bedrooms, good bathroom, large kitchen sitting room with everything you need for your stay. Thank you Martin and Fiona, we will be booking again soon. Our 6th stay here, been staying here since 2021.

Absolutely another fantastic weeks stay at 1, Church Square, with friends.

And can't wait to get back in 3 weeks time for my wifes and my 45 Wedding Anniversary. Great location, great flat with plenty of room with everything you need for your stay. Great views all around from windows out to sea and open spaces. Right next door to a large church which you think would be load on a Sunday but you never hear a thing. Absolutely gem of a place. We have been coming here since 2021. Can't say anything but don't hesitate to book, it's a fantastic place for your stay ...

What a beautiful apartment!

Equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Loved the spaciousness of the rooms and the sea views. Signal for tele a bit iffy at times but not a concern. I would definitely recommend.

We were a party of four adults and a toddler.

We found the apartment very spacious and comfortable. The beds were lovely,we all slept well. It was warm and cosy,always had hot water. We didn't do much catering but it's a very well equipped accommodation,even including a washing machine. The location was perfect and we got two cars parked without any problem. There are a few steps up to the front door which anyone with mobility issues should bear in mind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again if it's available

Situated just behind the crescent this was a fabulously placed accommodation for any events at the spa pavillion as it is so very near.

Really convenient for getting into town too as only a short walk maybe 5-10 mins . It’s ground floor which is fab for getting your stuff in and out . It was clean and comfortable and has everything you need for a lovely time by the sea side in the fantastic town of Whitby .

All facilities to make you feel right at home. Hosts were very helpful and responsive with any queries we had. Would definitely recommend this place.

Location is great but we knew that before arrival.

Ease of key collection spot on. Apartment is well stocked with pots, pans cutlery etc, however, we had to wash most of the dishes, plates cutlery and pans we used as there were food remnants stuck to them. The cutlery storage tray had a considerable amount of food in it too. Television was unwatchable most of the time due to a poor signal ( as the tv showed no signal on the screen) or it was a scrambled picture which was very disappointing as we like to chill on an evening. The owner did come out on our first night and retuned the tv from factory reset as there were no channels at all and she said the poor signal was weather related, but on our last night the was no wind or rain and tv was atrocious . We gave poor marks for comfort as the beds for us were very uncomfortable, mattresses were thin and not supportive. All bed linen was very clean though. Pillows too thin also. Bed frame creaked at every turn, so didn’t sleep well at all. Enjoyed our time in Whitby as always, maybe the cleaner had an off day resulting in the cutlery / pots issue but beds and tv need sorting. Disappointing really at £177 per night.

Very comfortable and a short walk to lovely gardens. Not too far to walk to the beach and shops.

This property was perfect for our small family.

Great location , comfortable and quiet. We would come back to the property and recommend it to family and friends. The only downside was the day bed had a stain on the mattress protector and it looks like it had gone through to the mattress ( no sheet), and it looked like a urine stain. We used the blankets for a bed sheet and it didn’t impact our stay. Just needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Very spacious & clean and in an ideal location. It is dog friendly. Tea, coffee, sugar & milk ready for you, and the little welcome pack of dog treats was a lovely bonus for our little dog. We are already looking to book again.

The only thing of concern would be a new toilet seat and a slightly bigger kitchen waste bin.

Other than that our stay was excellent. Such a great location for all things in Whitby. Also great location for anyone with a dog with so many walks close ɓy. Facilities and cleanliness of the property are excellent. We will certainly use again.

Very good location near the sea and the town.

Parking permit was provided and parking in the W zone was not a problem, parked right outside the flat. Very airy and bright flat with everything you need. If we returned to Whitby would definitely stay here again. Very quiet and safe location. We really enjoyed our stay can’t fault it. The tea,coffee, milk and biscuits were very much appreciated when we arrived. Thank you.

Great property, very spacious, light and warm.

Perfect place to spend the week and looks much bigger than on the pictures. Could maybe do with some tlc and a deep clean but was perfect for us. Really good price especially for the time of year and school holiday. Our only issue was with where it’s situated you’re right next to the front door so our dogs kept barking at people coming and going and we were worried the neighbours would complain. If your dogs less anxious than ours it won’t be a problem

This is our second stay at the property.

We were pleased with the facilities including plenty of hot water for our shower and warm rooms on a chilly Easter holiday. The location is central and quiet , we hope to stay again soon.

Lovely place to stay.

Very comfortable. Not far from the sea and the shops . Nicely decorated. They left a pint of milk and some cookies for us. Couldn't ask for more.

Think this is our 5th stay here.

1 Church Square is a fantastic flat situated in a great location and near all facilities. The flat it self is large with two bedrooms both doubles. It has a bathroom with shower and a utility room. The main part of the flat is the sitting room with two double couches. A tv attached to the wall with two large bay windows a table and four chairs and the fully equipped kitchen also in the sitting room open-plan. It's a home from home and so comfy. May I also say it has on street parking (cards). I highly recommend 1 Church Square. And will be booking again very soon

As always with sykes the accommodation was exactly as listed Clean tidy and comfortable The location on West cliff was spot on if you don't mind walking up and down the many pathways to the main part of the resort ( harbour etc ) Would definitely stay here again .

This must be our 12th stay at 1 Church Sq so that says it all really, it has everything you could wish for and is in a brilliant location.

My only concern is its getting so popular, I have to book so far in advance!! Cannot recommend it high enough, the owners leave you to it but are on hand by phone if there is ever an issue-never had one! And the goodie bag on arrival with tea and milk is really appreciated.

Fabulous apartment, it's got everything we needed and more, highly recommended, it's next to the church, 2 minutes to the gardens and 5 minutes to the pavilion & beach, what's not to like!

Such a lovely place to stay in whitby .

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this property and we will be booking again .

This must be our 10th time staying here so what else is there to say, it is absolutely brilliant and the owners are great to deal with.

Fantastic flat, very clean and well presented with everything you would need to make your stay as good as possible.

Any problems that arose were sorted straightaway, the owners are a credit to Sykes letting. .

The apartment is beautiful, very spacious and very clean.

The tea, coffee, sugar & milk was very much appreciated, and the little dog treat bag was a lovely touch for our dog. Would highly recommend this property & will definitely be booking again. The only thing I would ask for in the property is a full sized hoover.

We were very impressed with the size and cleanliness of the flat.

The dog biscuits and poo bags were a great idea. We had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The only thing I thought could have been improved was the fact that the windows did not stay open without being propped with something and it was 27 degrees, also no nets or blinds meant we were not that private. This however would not put me off staying there again, fab location too

Beautiful ground floor flat, spotlessly clean, comfortable, has a sea view from the sofa.

The living room/kitchen and main bedroom are sunny and bright, while the back bedroom is more secluded and shady/quiet. Washing machine, iron and ironing board, clothes airer, , hair dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, Tassimo coffee machine, tv and wifi, towels and bedding are all provided. Parking passes, tea, coffee, milk and a packet of locally-baked biscuits are all included too (thank you so much). Easy (and beautiful) short walk to the beach, Whitby’s town centre, and the Abbey. We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to coming back next Summer!

The apartment is nice with big airy rooms.

The settee opposite the TV is very uncomfortable, the windows don't keep any sound out so it was very noisy, the quilt was too heavy and thick, if it had been hot weather the quilt would have been unbearable. The other people in the building banged the front door every time they went out and came in. When we used the vacuum cleaner it smelled disgusting. It was nice to have a proper freezer and parking scratchcards and we got lucky with parking spaces outside the building.

It had everything we needed for our weeks stay. The apartment is clean, spacious and well equipped. Close to all the amenities Whitby has to offer. The doggy treats were a lovely touch. Thank you for a great stay. Would definitely return.

The property is bright comfortable and warm. It has a well equipped kitchen and a utility room with washing machine, iron and board. We had a welcome pack of essentials plus washing up liquid and tea towel supplied. The property is close to the beach, pubs and shops.

Superb apartment, it's got everything we needed and more!

a very spacious apartment and great location, just 5 minutes in to town, but best of all for us (with our Labrador Holly) is the West Cliffs, the beach and prom? one day it was so very stormy at high tide we thought we were the only one's on the prom, except to be confronted by a seal waddling along!! it wasn't phased at all and we suspect it was having a rest from the rough sea, ten minutes later it had disappeared. We often come to Whitby, Scarborough and we like the Lake District but this is by far the best holiday let. thank you.

A Fabulous apartment in easy walking distance of the beach, shops, amenities.

I don't think the car moved for 4 days! Lovely walk to Sandsend and back on the beach and along the cliff top to Robin Hoods Bay (bus back was only £2, dogs travel for free). My friend and I enjoyed our leisurely holiday breakfasts watching everyone walk by before we set out for the day. The dogs loved it too, especially the proximity to the beach.

Great property, clean, bright and in a central location.

Great communication between the owner, Sykes and ourselves. Was really nice of the owner to sort out an extra parking permit and enjoyed our time at the property. The only 2 downsides were: there was no parking available in zone W so we had to pay to park on west street car park for the first two days. Did get spaces on the third day. Although this is not about the property it would be a factor in booking this property again. The 2nd is only a very slight grumble and just a personal opinion, I found the settee with the high sides uncomfortable to sit on. Other than that the place and the owners were great

The apartment had everything we needed and was very comfy, in a quiet spot, but close enough to walk down into the town or beach. We would definitely return in the future.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at 1 Church Square.

The flat itself is very spacious but it's biggest positive is the location which is perfect. The owner left milk in the fridge which was a nice touch. My only criticism was that the listing mentions a washing machine but there wasn't one (unless I couldn't see it). This was only a minor issue. All in all a great flat in a fantastic location. Would recommend.

On entering the accommodation it was fantastic.

We have stayed a few times before and it never disappoints. It's homely feeling puts us right at easy. A beautiful front room with two settees, tv, table and chairs with a fully equipped kitchen with a welcome pack of biscuits and a pint of milk which was lovely. The front bedroom is very large with double bed plenty of hanging space and sitting space. The next room is the laundry room with sink, freezer and washing machine. Then the bathroom with WC, sink and bath with shower and plenty of space. Then the back bedroom with double bed and hanging space, not as big as the first room but plenty of space to easily walk round. We enjoyed our weekday stay and have already booked to come back on the 24/2/2023 for another weekend stay with friends. Its ideally situated near the sea about 700 yards to the nearest shop and Bakery and the same distance to a pub. Brilliant location.

When we arrived at the property we was amazed how large it was it was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfy an excellent base to explore whitby we will definitely book here again

It’s a lovely apartment. Had everything we needed. Great base, 10 minute walk into Whitby. We take our dog with us. He really enjoy going on holiday with us too. We actually recommended this apartment to another couple in Whitby while we staying there. Definitely will be booking again very soon.

Flat is in a great building and location, owners were quick to respond to queries.

There was no welcome pack, this is the first place we have stayed in for a long time that doesn’t provide a welcome pack. However, there was a pint of milk in the fridge. A number of improvements could be made to make the stay more comfortable, toilet is not fixed properly and wobbles a bit, kitchen tap is awful, beds have old uncomfortable mattresses with mattress toppers, pillows are poor quality and some of the finishes were poor. Both the kettle and teapot leaked when trying to pour. Having said all that, there were plenty of pots, utensils etc, and it was a great place to stay and quality improvements to finishes etc would make it a 5 star place. My son broke the tumbler in the bathroom, I told the owner that I had left£5 to replace but never heard back from the owner, which I found a little strange.

Lovely flat close by west cliff beach.

Excellent communication with the owner and Sykes Holiday Cottages. Loved the accommodation, including utility room! Well equipped kitchen and sitting room, good sized bedrooms. Things to improve? Change the stiff kitchen tap, have hand soap and shower gel, tissues, bedding: lighter duvet/ extra sheets & throws, better pillows (softer/thinner) and easy to use key box would make this 8 out of 10 property an outstanding 10. Definitely recommend this flat and Sykes Holiday Cottages

We had a fabulous weeks holiday at Church Square, the flat was lovely, clean and comfy, and perfectly situated.

Marley (the dog) was thrilled being so close to the beach for his early morning walks. Enjoyed it so much have already booked again for November.

Lovely apartment really comfy apartment just a little few things could make the stay a 100% with just a few adjustments the bath towels could do with being a bit more on the bigger size they where lovely and soft fresh smelling bit a bit small for someone who is 6ft4 and of a big stature like myself (ex rugby union player) we had a few early wakeup with work going on in one of the other apartments below us from 7.

30 am but hey people have to fit things around their life's just that the bed was comfy just could have done with a later get up when having a holiday and not needing to be up early morning but all in all nice time nice flat lovely area west cliff and only minutes from town centre a little tip for cleaning lady the cooker hood needs looking at

Apartment had everything you could have wanted.

Great space, great location, side seaview, good powerful shower, Netflix, free parking and owners kindly supplied an extra permit for a second car. Highly recommended will definitely stay there again in the future.

This is a lovely bright spacious apartment.

We thoroughly enjoyed a short break here and would be happy to stay again. We couldn't get parked outside the property but were close enough. (It was Easter weekend though). It has a comfortable bed.We had all we needed.

It was a lovely apartment. Plenty of space. Very clean. Bed very comfortable. Rang owners regarding central heating. They were around within 10mins. Sorted. Excellent service. Very polite, friendly. Said any problems give us a ring. Definitely a bonus they live in Whitby. It was great we could take our dog. Only 10 minutes walk to Whitby. Enjoyed chilling on a evening. 1, Church Square, what can I say, a great property in a great location and near everything you want in Whitby.

On entering the property it was warm and inviting and it had that homily feeling. The kitchen living room was large and spacious, with everything you need for your stay. The first bedroom was large and spacious with a beautiful bug window from where you could see the sea. Bed was a double and very comfy. Second bedroom was like any other double bedroom with enough space but was at the back of the property. Bathroom large with wc, wash basin and large bath-shower. It also had a washroom with washing machine and sink plus fridge/freezer. A great property and one we will be using not to soon in the distant future. Bring on our next stay to Whitby because we will definitely use this property again. (If Its Available).

The accommodation was central to the beach and Whitby front. The beds were comfortable and plenty of space throughout the apartment. The washing machine and iron were great so we could keep on top of our dirty beach clothes. We loved the fact we could have our pooch with us on our holiday. The tv gave you options to watch normal tv and Netflix. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay!

Fabulous location and property.

Everything you needed was there (except food) even down to cling film and foil. It was lovely and comfy and very clean. Great location and close to shops, restaurants and bars. I felt very safe as I was there part of the time on my own. Was there during high winds which knocked boiler out. Within 15mins of call to Fiona, Martyn was there to sort along with 2 ready mixed g&t’s as an apology. It wasn’t needed but it was a very thoughtful touch. Would I stay again, absolutely!

Ideal location beautiful views,furnishings need replacing ie sofa the kitchens utensil were gresay flooring needs replacing,stained carpets in main bedroom ,no disfectant or washing up liquid,and with this uncertain times with covid i would of thought this would be basic practice

Fantastic little flat, very cozy and clean.

Would highly recommend, only issue was finding a car park space as we often had to park on the next street and walk which was a slight inconvenience with children.

The accommodation was clean, roomy and in a great location with views of the sea from the sofa.

We had a great time and would go back. Would recommend the beds changed as they were a little uncomfortable for me and an en-suite in main bedroom but I’m being picky here. Overall great accommodation and location

The overall accommodation of 1,Church Square is brilliant.

Maybe a couple of things to tweek and only a suggestion. Maybe table mats for the table and coaters for your mugs to be placed on. And maybe a guest book so you can express your feelings of your stay. And read what other people have thought of their stay. We have had a great stay and would highly recommend anyone wishing to stay, you will not be let down your stay. It will not be long before we are back to Whitby and we will most definitely be coming back to 1, Church Square if the price is right.

we loved the flat so much re rebooked it for next year even before our hol ended.

..just one slight niggle....the toilet seat was very loose( and previous reviews say its been like that for a while)...anyway it gave up the ghost n broke on our last day there...that was our only negative and really it didnt bother us too much.

We wouldn’t class the property as luxurious.

The second bedroom was down a low dark corridor. It needed the light on during the day. The bathroom, whilst well decorated and clean, didn’t have a towel rail or toilet roll holder. Also, the toilet seat needed securely fixing. The single glazed windows rattled in the wind and, if the sun wasn’t shining, the lounge felt chilly and we felt the need to put on the heating. Which worked efficiently. The beds were warm and comfortable.

Everything you require is provided in this apartment.

The furnishings are lovely, the beds extrememly comfortable and even parking discs are provided. I cannot fault it at all, we had a great holiday and would definitely book again. The only thing i would do and this is just a personal preference is put Tvs in the bedrooms.

Fabulous location.

Beautiful apartment and very well equipped. Please note for those with pets there is no direct access from the apartment to the yard. However this was not a problem as there is ample dog walking space right outside the property. Would definitely re book.

Our holiday flat was lovely & clean, the main bed was very comfortable.

The back bedroom bed was very firm, depends on your taste. The flat was nice & light, the curtains were OK & didn't let in alot of street light at night. The flat was in a great position for walkin into Whitby proper ..took about 5 mins... you can also easily drive to large supermarket . Could easily walk to the beach to walk our dogs & great base for exploring surrounding areas. Kichen could have done with a new non stick frying pan , but when I asked the owner, Fiona, she was always very helpful. There was no where to dry clothes or towels, but her husband kindly bought round an airer, which helped. Only downside is the parking - we did get 1 parking ticket. You had to either drive around for however long it took to find a parking space - but staying somewhere in August is always going to be difficult. All in all we did have a lovely holiday

Would be nice to have a pir activated hallway light.

Possibly a footstool in the lounge Would definitely use again.

Close to beach and Whitby town. Lovely Chinese 5 mins away in old met hotel. Will miss breakfast in the bay window. Would be better with aerial in TV or a live TV app instead of having to watch on iPlayer

This is a lovely apartment, with everything you could need.

The location is brilliant and it even has a partial sea view. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely book again in the future

This flat has a sea view which was a great, surprise loved sitting at the window looking out to sea.

The downside was the tv not able to watch normal everyday channels. Not easy to use needs an aerial in our opinion but we did watch a couple of good films. We also noticed that a few more kitchen utensils would be helpful. Good value for money. Great location

The TV was advertised as a Smart TV which I have at home However when I arrived I found the Smart TV was not connected to either freeview or freesat so I was unable to watch general tv with the advantage of Smart TV Apps This was extremely disappointing to have such limited viewing.

With no Feeview or Freesat with or without the addition of Smart TV functions as much as everything else the flat, location etc was perfect I'll not go again

This flat is roomy and comfortable with everything you need ( Would have been handy to have a teapot as I like a second cup.

) Very close to beach and entertainment, cinema/ theatre in pavilion about 800 yards away. Main shops are about 10 mins walk.Quite a lot of dog friendly cafes/ shops. Also 50 yards away a grass area to walk dogs.( Remember clean up there mess) Car parking zone cards can be tricky if not use to them.But plenty of free car parking to the rear of property, Were you will find a leisure centre with pool and gym. Very clean town with beautiful views had a great little holiday. Would highly recommend this property, I Would stay here again. J B. Ayrshire

Clean and comfortable, everything we needed for a short stay, smart tv sometimes kept pausing as run off wifi but otherwise had an enjoyable stay

What a great base for your holiday in Whitby.

Nice walks to all local points of interest. Very comfy home from home feel about the place. Everything you need for a mini break or longer. We will be booking here again. Lovely big rooms.

the whole experience of using Sykes cottages from the initial booking onwards was totally stress free.

The customer services team were spot on. The accommodation was absolutely amazing. The photos on the posted on the website are true photos and show exactly what the accommodation was like. I have to say this accommodation was the best I have ever stayed in. It was immaculately clean and comfortable. There was an information pack ready for us on arrival informing us of everything from local nightlife, visitors attractions etc right down to how to use the tv. The owner had even gone to the trouble of leaving milk, tea, coffee and toilet roll for our arrival.. best of all, the owner had even bought a bucket and spade for my 2 year old granddaughter. I would highly recommend the site and this particular accommodation. thank you

We had a fantastic holiday in Whitby and your beautiful apartment has been a home away from home. Great home in a fab location with everything you could possibly need.. We recommend the Resolution bar for great meals at affordable prices. We enjoyed a walk along the beach to Sandsend and the steam train to Goathland. Stokers cafe is also brill - friendly and huge cake portions. Thanks again.

Ideally situated for Whitby town and beach plus all the lovely walks along the Cleveland Way and Cinder Track.
