A delightful cottage just a few minutes' walk from the town centre with an enclosed garden and private parking, ideal for couples or families. What a gem of a property – in the heart of Whitby yet boasting a lovely enclosed lawned garden plus private parking. This spacious house is lovely and offers charming accommodation. Since February 2022 Damson Cottage has undergone a series of refurbishments.

Lovely weekend spent at a lovely cottage ! My children loved the attic bedroom, the garden room and the garden especially

we all had a fantastic night's sleep in the very comfy beds. We walked to the pleasure boats at Ruswarp one day down the Railway track and enjoyed fish and chips in Whitby. The facilities at the cottage are great and the welcome pack was a really nice touch. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will recommend ! The Peacocks

So lucky to have found this lovely little gem! This was for our Pearl Wedding Anniversary few days away I’ve always wanted to see Whitby! We had an amazing time what a brilliant location within 5 mins walk of the harbour. The mattress is the most comfortable I’ve ever had to the point I’ve sourced and purchased one for home! This cottage is fabulous a little tired in places but overall to a good standard. Kitchen and little Orangery on the side really comfortable best kitchen sink I think ever!!! We will be back! I loved Whitby. Such a plus having the car parking space. Lovely Welcome back cottage smelt lovely too. Thank you for a wonderful few days .
Mr Lake
Having stayed at this cottage previously we knew it was in a very convenient position to Whitby centre, very comfortable beds and very unusually for Whitby., on site parking. The kitchen is well equipped and we particularly liked the addition of ‘Nadiya’ pans which were very good to use and easy to clean. The welcome pack full of Botham goodies was a very nice touch. There was a problem with the base kitchen unit to the right of the cooking range as it was hanging off it’s hinges but we fixed it back into the proper position. The area facing onto the rear garden we had enjoyed using before, a sort of conservatory, really needed it’s windows cleaning to appreciate the garden. Also a second shower somewhere in the property would be a great addition. However, all considered we had a lovely stay when we were able to enjoy good weather.
Mr Finnemore
Great place, love the kitchen and having two sitting rooms. Could do with a walk in shower in the bath room. Slight issue with not being able to open the down stairs windows as we set the smoke alarm off with the toaster. The off street parking was very useful. The very friendly ginger cat was in the garden or under the van most of the time and made every effort to get in to the house.
Mr Campbell
Very nice welcome pack as we arrived. Gas cooker a welcome change from halogen-electric. Comfortable beds and also really liked cozy back room and corner sofa. Not able to properly use garden as apple tree fell down! but didn't spoil our stay and Gardener kept us informed about what he was doing. Would have liked 2nd shower but again not a particular problem. Passers by do seem to think outside bin is for general use ie takeaway boxes and plastic beer and cider bottles. Not sure if typical. Overall a really nice welcoming cottage within easy walking distance of town centre and would recommend.
Mr Foster
A very pleasant house, situated in a quiet street with the added bonus of a parking space and only a 10-minute walk into town. Plus a little garden - a real boon in the sunny weather. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you. (Not a big problem, but maybe a little inconvenient for some, is that the only shower room is off the single bedroom).
Ms Scott
Am excellent holiday as always. New carpets are lovely and house is as comfortable as ever. Was worried after reading a few recent reviews but we needn’t have been concerned, the house was clean and I saw no evidence of any of the issues mentioned by others. Love this place ❤️
Mrs Dyson
Beautiful cottage, perfectly suited our family of 5, the younger kids loved the attic bedroom and our eldest daughter had a room to herself. The garden was beautiful with plenty to explore for the kids. Ideal location, 10 minute walk to the town centre. Unfortunate leak in the bathroom causing a slight constant drip into the living room but this didn't spoil our enjoyment of the property.
Mr Peacock
We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The beds were really comfy and the location is great for getting around Whitby. Really like the sun room/conservatory as well. A couple of points, the locks in the bathrooms don't work very well, maybe these could be looked at? Kitchen starting to look a bit tired but overall we enjoyed our stay here. Would recommend it.
Mr Fawcett
Having read the last 3 reviews before our stay we were hoping that issues mentioned regarding the stained pillows and bedding would have been addressed. Unfortunatley not, so wasnt impressed at all. We didnt use the very stained pillows and put them in a bag when we left for them to be dealt with. They needed binning as do the others on main bedroom as they look very yellow and unclean. The mattress also looks grimey . There was no mattress or pillow protectors on. and this is in my opinion a must. General cleanliness around property poor. Thick dust ontop of kitchen cupbpards which can be seen from the lounge area. Also dust and cobwebs generally all round especially on skirtings and around radiator in lounge. The property is lovely and we had a lovely week there but we wouldnt be booking again. The cottage requires a little TLC and would be perfect.
Mrs Dodds
Whilst comfortable and clean the general maintains VE and investment in the property was lacking. Numerous small repair jobs and replacements needed. Kitchen in particular needs investment and pillows need replacing. We did report broken wardrobe and missing light bulbs which were dealt with immediately but there are many more jobs to be done. Disappointing as we have stayed there before
Mrs May
We loved Damson Cottage. The plus points: 1. Fabulous location. 2. Spacious/comfortable. 3. Interesting/characterful. 4. Private/lovely garden for summer. 5. Off street parking. The negatives: 1. A bit tired, old spa baths, a few things need fixing. 2. Tree over parking space needs removing. Our car was COVERED in bird poo
Mr Mills
High chair filthy gad to be replaced. No high chair, had to wait 2 days. Cooker nothing working had to wait 3 days to get it fixed. Recorded letter sent to head office with the rest of complaints
Mrs Forshaw
First of all it was hard to find Damson Cottage as there is nothing on the side of the cottage saying Damson Cottage. There were stains on the kitchen floor when we arrived which indicated the floor had not been mopped. We found crumbs in one cupboard and had to clean the fridge as there were food particles stuck to the shelf. Some of the carpets were tired looking and when we stripped our beds at the end of our stay as requested we saw the pillows were stained and yellow in colour and the duvets had dirty stain marks on them. The double bedroom had a mattress shoved under the bed. When we booked the website said no pets were allowed. We received a general email the day before we left requesting that we made sure the dishwasher was unloaded at the end of our stay, the bins were emptied etc and if we had any four legged friends any mess was cleared up. Why say no pets and then say this? The only positive thing about Damson Cottage is the location and the parking space.

We enjoyed our week in your lovely cottage. It's quirky and quaint just what you would expect in Whitby: very comfortable too. It was lovely sitting in the garden room watching the birds enjoy the apples. Parking was a bonus. Thank you for the welcome pack which we thoroughly enjoyed. We would certainly stay here again.
The Teer Faimly
A brilliant week, the weather has been very good. The house is very comfortable. Parking is a real bonus, only 10 mins to walk into town. Thank you for the welcome pack some real Yorkshire treats

We have enjoyed a fantastic week's holiday in this spacious and characterful cottage. We made full use of the offroad parking and walked everyday from the property. We particularly enjoyed the walk to Sandsend along the Beach and the walk along the River Esk to Ruswarp. We have left you a new tin opener as the one in the house was past its best. We would definitely like to stay here again.

The cottage was easy to find and located close enough to the town centre to walk in. On arrival we were delighted by how clean and well furnished the property is. We all slept really well as it is really quiet and comfortable. There was everything we needed. Now having seen the standard of property I wouldn't hesitate to book again as it has been great. The welcome bag was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Thank you!
