Marina View

This was our second visit to Marina View and everything was just as expected.

The apartment was very clean and well equipped with good WiFi and Sky TV. Good central location with lovely views across the Marina and beyond. The reserved car parking space is just across the road from the apartment.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Marina View the flat was spotless and had everything we could ask for, parking was fine but the stairs to the flat are steep.

During our stay the neighbour had scaffolding erected which hampered the View but this is out of the owners control. The flat is perfectly located within the heart of Whitby and we thoroughly enjoyed Whitby as a holiday destination many Thanks.

Kitchen is excellent . Literally a stones throw from the town centre or a walk along the Esk river. If you walk up to Ruswarp go to Jacksons Butchers the pies are brilliant . If you get tired of fish & chips call in at the humble pie. It's a step back in time , I expected Captain Mannering to come out of the Kitchen. If I could give any advice don't take a heavy suitcase as the stairs up to the flat are a bit steep and the parking space is a bit tight if there are cars either side . I had every damn alarm on the car going off which to be fair is modern technology distracting the driver. When we go back to Whitby we will be stopping here.

This is the most comfortable, quite and cleanest apartment I think I've stayed in.

Brilliantly located just few minutes walk centre. Definitely on my list to return to. Stairs are a bit steep when getting luggage in but not to bad afterwards.

This is a great apartment in a very good location with fabulous views across the harbour and only a short walk to the town centre and harbour.

The parking space for a large car is tight but certainly manageable with care.

Great location close to bus and train station plus a parking spot. Very clean and well maintained. We would have given 10/10 apart from the settee which was so very very uncomfortable ie bad back uncomfortable sadly! This is a real shame as the rest of the flat is great and thoughtfully put together. Lovely welcome pack and also cleaning products. Please note the stairs to the flat are very steep so not suitable if you have mobility issues

Marina View is a very comfortable flat in a great location for accessing Whitby centre.

We appreciated the parking space (not suitable for enormous cars, though) and despite being close to the main town, the location was very quiet when we stayed in February half term. We slept extremely well! It was lovely to get back to our warm and cosy base each evening and on the occasions that we did want to go out to eat, the restaurants were only a ten to fifteen minute walk away. I spent a lot of time sitting in the armchair and admiring the view! If/when we stay in Whitby again, Marina View would definitely be our first choice of accommodation.

We had a great week, easy to find with the parking just across the street visible from the cottage.

We appreciated the Christmas decorations which was a lovely touch and the chocolates. We only used the car a couple of times as so close to everything you need. My husband did find carrying our case up the stairs a bit much so we would use a case each next time. Lovely message from the owner after I left something, sorry again. We would happily stay again.

Mariina View is a fantastic apartment.

It's clean and comfortable and has everything you could need during your stay. The location is great and the parking space an added bonus. This was our 2nd stay and we'll definitely stay again.

The apartment is exceptionally clean, comfortable and well laid out.

Everything was there that you could possibly need for a self catering stay. The owners have gone above and beyond to offer extra comforts, such as throws and books etc. We would highly recommend Marina View to everyone!

Lovely apartment located right near the train and bus station so very easy to get about.

Has a parking space too so we parked up and didn't move the car the entire time. Easy instructions and a lovely cosy apartment with lots of room and lovely to go back to after a day exploring. Walks were on the doorstep, so easy to catch the bus to staithes or robin hood bay and walk back along the Cleveland way

We really enjoyed our stay at Marina View, the apartment is stylish and comfortable with everything we needed for a lovely stay.

Quite a few stairs up to the apartment, which could be difficult for some. The apartment itself was very well maintained and very clean, the soft furnishings are well coordinated and the bed linen is good quality. The views out over the harbour are stunning and the chocolate gift was much appreciated.

Bright apartment, very comfortable with all facilities, close to town centre and restaurants.

We booked as there was a parking a space included with the property but were unable to use this the first two nights as there were two larges cars in the spaces next to ours and we couldn't fit our smaller car in the space provided

Great property, well fitted out and very clear.

Location was perfect for walking to the harbour where there are many shops and restaurants. Having it's own parking was essential for us too!

The property was in a great location and very comfortable.

The furnishings were very tasteful and we had everything we needed. I just have one small niggle which was that the touch-sensitive electric hob was very difficult to operate and took forever to reach any kind of heat – which made cooking slow. Everything else was perfect and I would definitely come back.

Our 4th week's stay at Marina View and each time we go the more we love it, super clean and comfortable, lovely linens and towels, well equipped and warm and cosy in the winter months.

Short stroll to everywhere and a large Co-Op 5 mins away and the bonus of a parking space right opposite. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Whitby now

Nice place to stay good location.

Stairs a bit steep & staircase could do with redecorating. The old standard radiator in bathroom needs changing to a tall chrome type that holds towels. The fixtures & fittings are all good quality everthing was clean usable & tidy. Also a nice welcome pack provided. The Parking space allocated a bit tight especially if others don't park correctly. If you turn right when leaving the flat & follow path beside the railway track its a nice walk to Ruswarp see the viaduct & steam train on the way. Nice pub there with good food little village & church. Alow about 30 mins each way for the walk.

We absolutely loved our stay at marina view, the apartment was clean x welcoming.

Very comfortable accommodation with lovely view of the marina x steam train. The chocolates x biscuits were a real treat x nice touch. Only downside for anyone who struggles with mobility is the two flights of steep stairs. We will return x definitely recommend, thankyou

Clean and comfortable in a great location. Parking space was a welcome addition.

The apartment was excellent with everything we could need.

The TV did not function on arrival, however, a new one one was provided very quickly. The coffee maker does not seem to work. The location was excellent, as were the views from the windows. The only downside is the kerb appeal on arrival. The door and external area is shabby and, on entry, the stairway to the second floor is narrow and rather unkempt. Paint is peeling from one one and the carpet is rather shabby and not cleaned. Letters and flyers lie in the entrance way. So, an excellent apartment but poor kerb appeal and entrance, inside and out. A pity.

We had a lovely 7 night stay apartment very clean bed very comfortable fully equipped kitchen if returning to Whitby we would definitely stay again.

The apartment had everything you need for a comfortable stay and close amenities.

Clean and tidy and some nice welcome gifts. Everything in working order and clear instructions for equipment use. The exterior and internal area leading to Apartment could do with a tidy/lick of paint but this is very minor as it’s the apartment you’re in!

This is a fabulous comfy apartment and a lovely base for visiting Whitby.

This is our second visit but won't be our last. A very central location where everything can be walked to but also very quiet and peaceful.

Marina View is a wonderful place, so clean, airy and bright.

Amazing views, you even see the a steam trains come and go! The bed was the most comfortable we have found in a holiday property, so very quiet too, so no problem sleeping. It's only a couple of minutes walk from the town (and the co-op) Thank you to Jane and David for putting so much time and thought into making a relaxing, comfortable holiday home. We loved it and will most certainly return.

This was our second stay at the lovely Marina View, it is perfect for us, super clean and comfortable with as the name suggests a really good view of the sunrise every morning.

Good quality appliances in a well equipped kitchen, along with some thoughtful goodies to enjoy, nice linens and a comfy bed coupled with an excellent shower makes a great apartment. 5 minute stroll to town and the local Co-op and the added bonus of a parking space directly opposite.

Second time at the property and just as good as the first.

Facilities, location and cleanliness are excellent. Ideal base for lovely local walks we went to Ruswarp, Sandsend and Larpool Viaduct. We would definitely recommend.

This place is fabulous, very clean and comfy with great views.

The only negative was because of us, not the apartment, as my husband has arthritis and struggled a bit with the stairs as it is on the second floor. Other than that, we would highly recommend.

This apartment is lovely.

Ideally situated with a 5 minute walk into town. From the windows we were able to see the steam train and activity in the marina. The apartment is lovely and clean and cosy, and had a lot of additional touches even down to a box of chocolates and biscuits on arrival. We were even allowed to use the condiments etc in the cupboard. The two flights of steps to the apartment were manageable and parking opposite side of the road was adequate. Would thoroughly recommend the apartment.

Parking fine a real asset!

Our mistake as a couple of 70 year old the stairs were rather demanding on arrival and departure. But listing was accurate. Entrance and stairs rather shabby / untidy. Apartment clean and tidy well equipped with excellent view across the town. Really enjoyed our stay!

I often struggle to settle away from home, but there was something special about this place. I felt so relaxed and comfortable there. My husband and I particularly enjoyed sitting in the bright lounge area with a cuppa, admiring the brilliant view! Would definitely book again!

This is a lovely apartment - very central and close to all the attractions and amenities but also very quiet and peaceful.

Perfect for a rest and recreation holiday. The bed is fabulously comfy with lovely linen so a good night's sleep assured. We would urge that no one worries about the parking spot - we have quite a big car and 2 other very big cars were parked aside us at times and it was not a problem. The parking space is a massive benefit to this already very special place to stay - we would love to come back to both Whitby and the Marina View Apartment.

We booked a week away to celebrate our recent marriage, neither of us had ever been to Whitby for. It was a random decision and I'm so glad we booked with you. The accommodation was beautiful, it was perfect. The bed was so comfortable. It was spotlessly clean. Everything we needed and more. The tea and coffee selection was brilliant. And the little complimentary chocolates was a lovely touch. It was in a perfect location, we don't drive but it didn't matter as everything was in walking distance including the beach and all the shops/ restaurants and pubs. We are already deciding on a date to visit and book with you again. Thank you to the owners for the brilliant communication.

Great apartment, very clean and tidy.

Well set out, lovely and warm and we were here through two storms!! We didn’t use the parking spot which really will only suit a very small car. Our Focus would have gone in (as long as my husband did the parking) but with a car either side we would have struggled to use the doors plus we were worried the other cars might bump our doors. We found free on street parking further down the road though. We have booked another week and would definitely recommend. Good communication beforehand from the owners. Many thanks.

Marina View is an absolutely fabulous place for a stay in Whitby.

Good communication with owners, great location, the apartment was very clean and everything you needed for a week away was catered for. The comftable king size bed was also delightful to sleep in. Private car park space also an added bonus. Would definitely book again.

Great apartment that is so close to the Whitby town and harbour centre; so walking in for an evening meal is so easy.

The carparking space is a key point since being so close in, the only other carparking are either restricted street parking or the main harbour carpark.

We really enjoyed our stay at Marina View, such a lovely apartment which felt both spacious and cosy, very nicely styled with good quality furnishings and appliances, it had everything( impressive tea, coffee etc) we needed and more.

An extremely comfortable bed with nice quality linens, an excellent shower and all super clean made our week just perfect. We will be booking here for our next break in Whitby for sure.

We had a wonderful stay.

The apartment was beautiful and clean and had everything you would need and loads of little extras including a parking space. A short stroll into the town, made this an ideal location.

A lovely quiet, compact apartment, the right size for a couple.

Very well situated for visiting Whitby and the surrounding area, we hardly used the car at all.

The shared communal entrance was dirty, full of junk mail and very off putting.

The apartment was well over due a good overall/lick of paint. We had to hoover the cob webs from around all rooms but could not reach the ones above the tall oven unit in the kitchen. The remote control for the TV was very dirty so we cleaned it. The draws in the bedroom wood not stay shut and we were unable to use the wardrobe as it was filled by the ironing board and Henry hoover. There was no dvd player. The armchair also stained. Cleanliness very disappointing especially in covid times. The plus points were parking space provided, location and nice hot shower. As an agent I think every couple of years a revised picture of the holiday let should be taken and your website updated with it so customers can see what the current holiday let now looks like rather than when it was first new on the market.

Property facilities and location are excellent for 2 people to enjoy a week in Whitby.

Many extras left for use which most other stays don’t provide. Excellent shower, heating and parking ticked all our boxes and we shall return. Good communications from the owners beforehand.

We had such a lovely time & were extremely lucky with the weather, bright sunshine almost every day in mid November.

The living area of the apartment is so much more homely than the photos suggest (whoever changed the layout/furnished it has done a great job) & the view is fantastic. I enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning. The parking space is a great asset, but we struggled a little in our large car, particularly when someone was in the space beside us. Great place to stay when visiting Whitby, just a few minutes walk from the harbour, would definitely recommend.

Great apartment.

The location is just right, close enough to walk into the harbour and you are practically over looking the train station should you wish to go on a steam train. The added bonus is a car parking space just opposite. The only downside to the apartment is the stairs to climb up and down, but that is a very minor issue. I would have no problem in recommending this apartment to friends and would book this place again.

Beautifully presented apartment, very close to the marina and bonus of a car parking space (which is quite small if you have a large car).

Apartment was spotless and a lovely welcome tray with tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolates. All the basics you need such as toilet rolls, hand wash, milk pods in fridge and cleaning products are provided. Very comfortable bed, towels included and bath mats. Shower worked perfectly fine for us. Would definitely recommend apartment and would book again. Thank you for such a lovely mini break.

Marina View was a great holiday apartment.

It was spotlessly clean and so comfortable. It had everything you could ask for with lots of lovely touches that made it very welcoming. The view from the apartment is amazing and the lounge is so bright and warm as it has an open facing aspect. Having an allocated parking space is such an advantage when staying in Whitby. The flat is centrally located for everything which added to the great experience we had on our holiday. Unfortunately the shower had a problem while we were there but this will not put us off returning to Marina View or recommending it to friends for future holidays. A great holiday home.

We loved this apartment, it was spotlessly clean, really comfortable and very well stocked with basic requirements (eg tea, coffee, sauces, cleaning essentials etc), so no need to bring anything.

The bed and sofa were particularly comfy! Great views over Whitby. A big bonus is the private parking space outside the apartment, but you could also travel here by public transport, as the apartment is so conveniently situated to all amenities and transport links, which also provide excellent services across the whole region. Owners very attentive, responding quickly to any enquiries. We would definitely book the apartment again, and recommend to friends and family.

Amazing apartment.

We booked again for next year when we were there. Beautiful view, exceptionally comfortable, very near town centre and parking. We couldn’t praise Marina View or the the lovely owners enough. We walked miles when we were there and every day there was something going on and the scenery in Whitby is breathtaking.

The view from the flat was beautiful.

You could see the Abby and the hills . The steam train came very close to the flat and you could hear it pull into the station. We had a very short walk to town,five minutes. The flat was everything we needed and well presented. We would stay there again.

Excellent accommodation, well situated close the Whitby Town centre.

Equipment as described with good views across the Marina. Annoying beeping from the fire panel on three mornings due to power faults, corrected later in the day. Only minor issues in the bathroom, could do with a bathmat in the shower as the bath gets slippy, recent shower service has left the controls stiff and adjusting the water flow changes the temperature control. Also some indication of extractor fan switch would be useful as it is on the ceiling!

The water temperatures of the bath and shower wouldn’t change (shower constantly too hot and bath constantly too cold) so we had to mix them to have a normal temperature bath.

Also the flush on the toilet kept falling through when trying to flush it. Other than that it was a lovely apartment with everything you would need and more.

Shower head - annoying drip and could not get the shower to function.

Bathwater - could not get this hot enough but rest of sytem had hot water ? Annoying alarm going off on fire alarm inside front door. Had to mute this on a regular basis. Everything else in the apartment was fine and location was good for local transport. Enjoyed our week stay.

Disappointed that a used bath towel was left on the back on the bathroom door.

At the end of the holiday could not find the council bin to put our rubbish in. Saying this we would book this accommodation again.

Well placed for getting around the area, walking distance to lots of shops, pubs, restaurant, the beautiful long sandy beaches. Ideal as no need for taxis. It is on the second floor though so steps to enter the apartment. Well equipped apartment, very comfy bed and extremely quiet on a night . Would definitely use it again & also recommend to other . Owners extremely helpful with replies to emails .

Marina view was a fantastic holiday let, we stayed for two weeks and have already booked another stay next year.

We loved the location a 5 minute walk from all that Whitby has to offer, but far enough to miss the noise, the view was amazing, not only over the marina but also the train station, we are already missing the sound of the steam engines and watching them arrive and depart. The owners replied to any query promptly and nothing was to much trouble. We have stayed in many holiday let’s over the years and Marina view is superb and extremely well thought out and very comfortable.

Great week easy to book with good instructions on arrival apartment was exactly what we expected so we would use Sykes Cottages again.

The flat was lovely and clean.

The bed was really comfortable, the bed room was at the back it would have been nice if it was larger it felt you were boxed in. The bathroom was excellent clean and everything worked, there were places to store your toiletries (a stand). There were lovely clean fluffy towels. The lounge was large and again clean, the kitchen was also in the lounge. The furniture was clean and comfortable, a sofa. The hob was very hard to work, I understood the instructions but I couldn’t get it to work the oven was simple so made do with that to cook our food or ate out, luckily it was hot so ate a lot of cold food. The flat was on the second floor. Parking was across the road so we didn’t have to pay to park and the town centre was nearby.

It's location was perfect for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area. Whitby is a busy town so the guaranteed parking spot was very convenient, close to the accommodation and easily accesed. The falt was very clean with a fully functioning kitchen with everything one needed, cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer and even a washng machine. The bedroom is cosy with white linen and plenty of towels provided. The bathroom has a bath on shower over the bath with plenty of hot water for either after a day exploring the area. There are plenty of places to explore and eat out in Whitby. We hardly touched the surface in one weekend so would love to go again and try out some of the numerous walks along the Cleveland way, perhaps eating a little less next time!! We can recommend Mirina View apartment and Whitby for a great escape away.

Marina View was a great apartment for our first stay in Whitby.

The location is excellent, great to walk to the town but just far enough away for some peace & quiet too. The apartment was comfortable & had everything we needed. We probably would have used the kitchen more had there not been so many great places to eat in Whitby! Love watching the steam train every morning from the window.

We were delighted with our stay in this lovely, well thoughtout , nicely equipped apartment.

Lovely views, and so convenient to use the excellent coastal bus services, leaving our car in the precious space provided! Would definitely return.

The apartment was beautiful, tastefully decorated, everything immaculate.

Lots of facilities and extras including tea, coffee, sugar, sweeteners, chocolates, even a bottle of festive bubbly. Also there is a private parking space, which is a real boon in Whitby The view was fabulous , the apartment overlooking the harbour, and we were blessed with a wonderful full Wolf Moon

This is a beautiful apartment furnished to a very high standard.

It was a bit like having our own 5* hotel suite. Location is perfect and very central. Views are lovely. We really appreciated the very generous welcome tray and the provision of a few basics.

We had a most wonderful stay, be it short, the fantastic location to town, the views.

The comfort of the apartment. ALL exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
