NEW: Stylish townhouse with smart furnishings and outside space in a superb central location A gorgeous townhouse, newly refurbished with great attention to comfort, style and detail with a stunning large house bathroom, that gives it a wow factor, plus an enclosed courtyard and a great location - within just a five minute stroll, you're at the harbour and centre of Whitby town.

Beautiful House

Real Home from home. Will recommend to family and friends. Been coming to Whitby over 30 years and one of the best places we have stayed, a credit to the owners. Hope to come back soon X

This smart townhouse has been lovingly refurbished to create a beautiful seaside property and a wonderful choice for holidaymakers wanting something stylish, with a great location near the harbour, beach and Whitby's town centre with its quaint shops, award-winning restaurants, charming tea rooms and heritage sites.

A small enclosed terraced area to the front has steps to the door. The entrance hall leads to the sitting room, which has a comfortable sofa and arm chairs, Smart TV/DVD, chandelier, a feature wall in brick work, real-flame effect fire and very funky wall radiators! Great attention to detail has been paid to the decor, from the rug, Roman blind and accessories, which feature jewelled and coordinating colours, creating a perfect spot to relax at the end of a day after exploring the coast's many treasures, wandering Whitby's cobbled streets or sunbathing on the golden beach!

The dining room has wall-to-ceiling cupboards providing storage including an integrated fridge/freezer adjacent to the kitchen. The colours are duck egg blue with accents of copper including three wonderful drop lights over the table and seating, designed to enjoy meals together, whether it's breakfast discussing what to do or recapping the activities over supper. The dining area has a wall-mounted Smart TV/DVD.

The dining area also has a window seat - that stores a selection of board games and DVDs to enjoy - overlooking the enclosed, decked rear courtyard garden, perfect for morning coffee at the start of another wonderful day at the coast.

We love the kitchen which echoes the colour scheme of the dining room; it's well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine/dryer. The ironing board and iron are housed in a tall cupboard in the adjacent dining area.

There is a useful ground floor WC and cloaks area.

Open the door at the head of the stairs and be taken aback by the most wonderful and very spacious bathroom with dark green glossy tiles, a double size walk-in shower, free-standing bath, Victorian-style with high cistern WC and hand wash basin plus chandeliers and ornate over-basin mirror. We also love the art deco table, containing toiletries for guests to enjoy. It's so elegant and charming that you'll want to draw a bath, add some bubbles, sink down and relax!

It is a 'Jack and Jill' bathroom with two doors, one of which leads to the sumptuous master bedroom. This has a superb 5' king size mahogany bed, with a deep mattress for extra comfort plus bedside cabinets and lamps, wardrobe and a Smart TV.

At the top of the stairs is a bookshelf with a small library of books for guests to enjoy and exchange if desired.

The second floor has two bedrooms, one of which is en-suite. The first bedroom that faces the rear of the house has a double size bed (4'6") decorated most charmingly with nautical-style decor in blue and white with a porthole mirror, crisp navy and white bed linens and beach-inspired accessories. There are bedside tables, bedside lights and a double wardrobe.

The master bedroom on this floor has a 5' king size brass bed, bedside tables, a large wardrobe and TV. The en-suite in this room is wonderfully appointed with WC, hand wash basin and a thermostatic shower, guaranteed to refresh. From this bedroom, there is also a fabulous view of the iconic Whitby Abbey on the headland.

Located in a quiet area of Whitby this fabulous townhouse is a five minute stroll to the town centre amenities including chic restaurants, bars, pubs, tea rooms super market and shops. The golden beach and harbour, with its award-winning restaurants, elegant bars and renowned fish and chip restaurants, are nearby with the 'old town' of Whitby - with its cobbled streets, famous 199 Steps - worth the climb for the view! - and the iconic Whitby Abbey - a ten minute stroll.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at See Glympse. The house is extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. The situation is great as it's not in the middle of Whitby which was very busy but still only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the centre.
Mrs Wigmore
We felt the floors were not clean. Under the sofa was dirty and our socks were dirty walking about (we don’t wear shoes in the house at home) parking was a bit trickier than stated ans the garden court yard was tiny! I think if these things were addressed or explained more it would have been ideal The house however was beautiful and had everything you could ever need and more! Lovely little extra touches
Mrs Bull
Excellent location with parking surprisingly not difficult for Whitby. The accommodation was excellent quality and well stocked. The only slight problem is one of the bedroom doors on the top floor would not shut properly.
Mr Bailey
Whilst being a beautiful, well finished house we feel a mention should have been made about the steepness of the staircases which presented a problem to one member of our party with some mobility problems. Perhaps you could give some idea of the suitability of properties for older people who may have some limited mobility. The house description led us to expect easy free parking close to the house. This wasn't the case. In a street of 38 houses there was parking for only 18 vehicles. Identical problems existed in adjacent streets.
Mr Hartley
A wonderful cosy house, with everything needed for a great holiday, easy walking distance of the town centre.
Mr Woolley
Importantly beautiful house and good location but parking was a nightmare. Arriving and having to search for a parking space for 30 min isn’t the best way to start your holiday.
Mr Lown
A fabulous cottage which is fully equipped, the owners have thought of everything to make the cottage extremely comfortable and welcoming! Lots of extras you wouldn’t normally have in a rental. Thoroughly cleaned with lots of covid additions in place, hand washes, hand gels, hand towels in all toilets, the kitchen and near the front and rear doors. Bedrooms and beds very comfortable and lots of hangers in the wardrobes! Thick bath towels too! Would highly recommend worth every penny!
Mrs Ruston
After being unable to travel to Rome we felt we still had to celebrate my friend's birthday and what a perfect replacement. Knowing we had our own space was a great idea but what a space. It's a beautiful property with such lovely decor. Everything was well thought of. Couldn't have had a better break. We will hopefully be back for another visit. Thank you
Miss Procter
Parking was always an issue, We found ourselves having to park a couple of streets away and walk to the house. The house however was very well presented, very comfortable clean and warm. The owners had done a great job with this property and a credit to them. Unfortunately the view from the rear of the property dorma bedroom was of an alley way, but apart from that this house is in a perfect location with a 5 mins walk into Whitby. Location wise this is a great property to base yourselves.
Miss Chapman
Great cottage , good location. Only complaint the back alley is filthy something the council need to address.
Mrs Broomhead
It was lovely dealing with a great company who always obliged whenever i needed any info the cottage was first class as have all the properties we have booked with you previously can highly recommend
Miss Naylor
Perfect. Would definitely recommended staying here. Brilliant location 2 minute walk into town.
Mr Haywood
What a beautiful property! Well equipped with everything and more that you could ever need. Tastefully decorated, exceptionally clean. Good location- a five minute walk down to the town and parking was always easy. As it’s dog friendly- a small dog bed would be a good addition as dogs aren’t allowed on furniture. Will definitely recommend and return.
Mrs Clarke
A beautiful house done to a high standard everything you could need is provided and is of a high quality hilly 10 minute walk up to the house from the centre but that is to be expected in Whitby . Parking is one a first come first served basis we had 3 cars to park and actually managed it in the surrounding streets even after we had been out for the day but that was just luck I could see it being a problem at times . The house is 3 storey the stairs could be a problem for some . We had a very comfortable stay and would recommend See Glympse the house on the whole was clean but under sofas and furniture in the living room and on top of wardrobes were dusty which stopped it getting full marks for cleanliness. I’m not sure who this point refers to wether it’s the owners , the management company or Sykes Cottages but the long list of to do’s before you leave I found a little annoying . I would always always leave a house tidy on leaving but to be told to strip all the beds and put everything in bags is a bit cheeky we paid a lot of money to stay there a service is being provided I’m on holiday to get away from all that I have never been asked that before .
Mrs Ducker
We loved the cottage. An absolute credit to the owners. Beautifully decorated respecting the period of the property. Has everything you could possibly need I would not book through Sykes again though. Treated customers terribly through lockdown. My aunts was outstanding over £2000 for a holiday that they could not go on at the beginning of lockdown. My review in no way reflects in the owner of the property.
Mr Ecclestone
