This is a superb property, finished to a really high standard, very comfortable and spacious.

The location is great for accessing Whitby town and all of the attractions within walking distance of the town. The parking space provided as part of the property is suitable for only the smallest on cars but the provision of a parking permit makes it easy to park close by to the property. We were impressed with the well stocked kitchen for those who wish to cater for themselves and the living space is lovely and airy, spacious and bright. Cleanliness is of the highest quality, the furnishings are comfortable, the bed has the best mattress we’ve ever slept on and the towels and bed linen were of the highest quality and cleanliness. There are also the usual household cleaning appliances for maintaining the cleanliness during your stay. To be honest, we couldn’t fault this property and hope to return, it’s suitable for our needs and places us right in the heart of Whitby where we like to be. All in all we don’t have a bad word to say about this place.

Lovely clean bright place, central location

Lovely cottage right in the centre of Whitby.

It was lovely and clean with everything you could need.

We had a lovely stay in the Storerooms as a family of 3 (two adults & 1 year old) and our dog.

The cottage was very centrally located (2 minutes walk into town) and had everything that we needed for our stay. It was very clean and had lots of lovely little touches, which made the stay even nicer. We really appreciated the use of the highchair and baby bath mat while staying - a cot was also available but we didn't need it. Other guests should be aware that there isn't a baby gate at the top of the stairs - this wasn't a problem for us as we moved a chair to block access for our little one. We would very happily stay again in the Storerooms.

Beautiful cottage and the owner has not scrimped on good quality furnishings/equipment.

Little touches such as air fryer & slow cooker plus quality crockery and cutlery, home furnishings and bedding that make the home a bit more luxurious. If I have one negative is that a double bed is a no over a king size bed and there is ample room for one, which let the cottage down a little. We really appreciated the welcome pack and well stocked tray as well as a pint of milk in the fridge. Would really recommend this central and quietly located cottage and thank the hosts for sharing their property with us. Thank you Carol for answering our questions and your hospitality

The property was really nice and great location however we do have some criticisms, 1.

The Properties opposite had bright outside lights on all night which prevented us from getting a decent night sleep. 2. loading and unloading our vehicle was a little more difficult when leaving due to parked vehicle’s 3. check-in and checkout times 16:00 check-in is a little late during the winter months unloading in the dark and trying to find space would be a lot easier if you could check in maybe 15:00 like most other properties I think that extra hour would make all the difference and also checking out at 9:00 AM is a bit early for your last day. We feel 10:00 AM would be much better, otherwise lovely cottage inside and out.

Very well equipped with everything you need and a very comfortable bed. Perfect base for exploring Whitby. Our only negative points would be, Steep stairs that should be mentioned in the listing. Very early check out time of 9am Parking could be an issue at busy times

This is our 3rd stay here and we will be back again BUT we have to mention that we definitely missed an ice box in the fridge as we usually put ice packs in for our return journey for the kippers in our freezer bag to keep them cool!

And ice for our drinks. Also place mats for mugs and glasses would be nice. Apart from these 2 things it's a beautiful place to stay and the car park ticket def helps when parking.

The Store rooms is a gorgeous little place.

Beautifully presented and very well equipped. It is situated right in the heart of Whitby, close to all the amenities and yet surprisingly the cottage is tucked away in a peaceful little corner. On arrival the welcome pack was a delightful surprise (especially the Bothams biscuits)! Our stay was warm, welcoming and lovely and we will definitely return!

The property was in a great location within easy walking distance of all Whitby has to offer.

Close to the main hub but in a quiet location. Parking information- I think this needs to be made clearer as it's quite muddled between what it says on Sykes website, what people say in reviews, and the information available at the property. The property DOES has one (albeit small-only just fitted a Jimny) allocated space (number 5 on the left of The Paddock as you drive in but not directly outside the property), for which you don't require a permit. If your car doesn't fit in that space there are scratch card permit things inside the property which allow you to park in the road spaces around the property on a first come first served basis. The information on parking bay 5 is only made clear in the welcome pack upstairs in the property, but it would have been really useful to have that explained before we got there. E.g when you message the owners to ask for the key safe code. Cleanliness- the property wasn't very clean which was disappointing considering the 4pm check in and 9am check out times which should allow ample changeover cleaning time. Crumbs over the counter top and in the cutlery draw, sticky cupboards and fridge, dirt/dust/human and dog hair round the edges of the floor upstairs, grubby handles and door knobs, cobwebs hanging down from windows, build up of food and dirt in crevices of the armchair.

We had such a lovely stay at the Store Rooms - it is a very cosy cottage with everything you need for a break away.

We stayed for three nights with our little dog and found the location to be so convenient with everything in walking distance. We did have a bit of a job finding a parking space on arrival but after a little searching parked a few blocks away and used the permit provided for the length of our stay. Would love to come back and stay here next time we visit Whitby. Thank you xx

Just had a couple of nights at this cosy little upside down cottage.

It's dog friendly and is in a quiet spot and very central to the main shopping area. It is well equipped with a fab shower, really comfy bed, nice bright decor and all you need for an enjoyable stay. The owners have not scrimped on quality bedding and furnishings. A really nice touch was that the owner left a box of Botham's biscuits and a pint of milk. Car parking space outside which you do need a permit for but these are provided in the cottage for each day of your stay. We were booked in for 3 nights but sadly had to leave a day early as our dog was unwell. Love this little place. It's a great little bolthole to enjoy beautiful Whitby. We will be back.

We enjoyed our time in the home, nicely decorated, comfy bed and well equipped.

Sadly there was no ice box in the fridge, which would have been handy for ice in the hot spell we had when staying there. The milk in the fridge and the chocolate cookies left for us was a nice touch, a big thank you to the owners. As mentioned by some previous visitors the steps are a bit steep, so guests need to be able to manage them. The home is in a good location for getting around Whitby and having parking close is a bonus.

Car parking is a bit tight but we had permits in the property for the days we were there. Lovely decor and well presented property. Close to the centre of town. Kitchen was well equipped and some tea bags, coffee, biscuits and milk in the fridge!! No negatives only the kitchen is upstairs with the sofa bed with roof lights that would be great with some blinds. (Although my teenager didn’t get woken up by the light!!)

This is a lovely cottage just a brief 5 minute walk (if that) to the many bars, restaurants and shops at the harbourside.

It's located in a very quiet location with very little traffic as the road isn't a through road. The cottage itself is upside down with the bedroom on the ground floor, which also means it's cool to sleep in and the living areas upstairs. There is also bathroom facilities on both floors which is a real bonus. The cottage has everything you need from excellent kitchen facilities with numerous utensils, kitchen appliances and the added bonus of a washing machine! The lounge area is comfortable with a sofa, armchair and fold away dining table. There are also games, books and dog blankets. There is a smart TV although a bigger one would be better. Parking in Whitby can be challenging but we used the parking permits provided and were always able to park close by without any trouble. The owners are very pleasant and attentive and there for anything you need of them. All in all we had a lovely break. The weather was very warm which obviously helps. We will definitely return to The Store Rooms. If you want a centrally located place without the noise and bussle of the front then this is for you.

Lovely to meet both the owners . Was good to have a parking space for our small car . It’s in a quiet place but yet really central to all shops , bars , restaurants . We loved it that much we booked again for next year before we left .

A week ago today we were reluctantly getting ready to check out of this absolutely beautiful little cottage.

We were very happy with our stay at the Store Rooms.

We were told in advance that the fridge had broken down so we took our camping fridge - no problem. The property was very clean and the facilities excellent and as described. Close to shops and town centre. Only downside was not suitable for anyone with mobility problems - steep stairs to kitchen area. Looking forward to a return visit.

We could not fault the property, it was a relaxing week in wonderful surroundings.

Anyone looking for a cottage within the hustle and bustle of a beautiful seaside town but without all the noise will not be let down.

We really loved our stay at the Store Rooms, the cottage was lovely and clean.

The location to the centre was great, just a minutes walk and you're in the town centre with lots of things to do. The bed was really comfy and the lounge/kitchen is light and airy. Instructions for parking arrangements were easy to follow and no issue in finding a space to park. We did speak to the owners, they were very friendly and welcoming

This is a lovely cottage for 2 in a very quiet and convenient place near to all amenities and a short walk to the beach.

We have stayed here 3 times and find it comfortable and well equipped. We park up when we arrive and don't generally use the car again until we leave. The decor is fresh and cheerful and we found the accommodation clean and tidy on arrival. We appreciated the milk and biscuits left for us by the owners.

The property was exactly as described.

Lovely comfy bed with gleaming white linens and towels and a well equipped kitchen. If you like to cook when away you’ll need to take every thing you need with you…. No herbs, spices or oils. Nice touch that milk and a packet of cakes was left together with teas, coffee and sugar. Parking wasn’t an issue, but I imagine it might be in the height of summer. We parked up and only moved the car once. Parking was free as permits were provided. Thanks for a lovely stay, would wholeheartedly recommend and we would definitely stay here again if we were in Whitby.

Excellent location ,parking permits provided although we didn’t need them as were on public transport.

Train and bus station and Coop store next to the station all within 10 minutes walk. Can recommend the Little Angel pub and the Vault restaurant 5 mins away. If you go to Robin Hood’s Bay you must visit Brambles Bistro absolutely fantastic food and service.

Enjoyed our 3 night stay at The Store Rooms, found it very clean and close to the centre of lovely Whitby.

Found the bed really comfortable and the living space upstairs was really airy with everything you need, my only negatives are it's just missing a little outside space to sit in, and the flight of stairs are a challenge at times with the bend at the top, other than that we love the place.

Absolutely stunning & immaculately clean ,the owners Simon & Carol were very helpful & the bed was the most comfortoblist I've ever slept on the only issue with me was the stairs

Clean, comfortable and warm. We had an issue with the boiler that was fixed in no time. Great to be able to leave the car in a 1st come 1st served parking spot outside the cottage and walk everywhere. If I was going to make a suggestion, I'd say a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries would be great and some curtains in the bedroom as the light outside is quite bright. Enjoyed our stay very much.

We were lucky enough that to spend Christmas at the Store Rooms and couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable stay.

Perfect for 2 adults and our spaniel. The cottage is well equipped and we wanted for nothing. The owners decorated it very festive, and left milk, biscuits and other goodies which was a lovely touch. We parked the car and didn’t drive for the whole time we were there. Fabulous location in the centre of Whitby and close to the beach. I would book again in a heartbeat. Communication from the owners was great.

Lovely little upside down cottage, in the very centre of town, but squirrelled away in a quiet yard on the West Cliff.

The bed was sooooo comfortable and upstairs was so light and airy, even in the depths of winter. Good shower and everything you needed to cook for yourself in the kitchen if you needed to. Our little dog was happy to snooze, so she must have enjoyed it too! Thank you for a lovely stay! Oh, and I need to know which fabric softener is used as the towels smelt amazing

The cottage is very central to all amenities.

It was very clean and had everything we needed. We cooked a couple of nights and all cutlery, pans and crockery were supplied. Appreciated the basic things like coffee, sugar milk and washing up liquid was provided , which is not always the case. Got a parking spot bang outside which was a real bonus. Can't complain about anything and would definitely recommend this property. Thankyou x

really conveniently placed, its got everything needed, the owners are on hand and very helpfull, we had a short break and it was lovely, overall very nice no complaints at all.

Place was lovely but there was a lot of hair from previous guest in the bathroom didn’t seem like it had been cleaned as sink was dirty as well.

and the floor upstairs I had to clean as soon as got there as a lot of bits on the floor. Cutlery drawer was dirty with debris. Chopping board was filthy

Being in our early 70s however we found the stairs too much as Sandra has a lung condition. But everything was perfect and comfortable.

Very clean and lovely decor. Also the bath towels where so soft and fluffy and also.like the bedding smelling so fresh. Would recomend this cottage for a lovely break in Whitby. The only thing I think it would benefit from having two front door keys, as one day I looked around the shops while my husband walked our dog. This meant me having to wait until he came back to open the door.

Love this cottage, set in a quiet back street less than 5 minutes to the restaurants bars amusements and shops.

There was always 1 parking spot out of the 4 available next to the cottage but opted to park on west cliff as I knew I wasn't going to be needing the car throughout the break. The road is very narrow to the cottage but part of the areas character. Loved the cottage everything you needed was there. It is compact but so comfortable and would not hesitate booking it again. Shower was powerful, lovely and hot. The simple things of cakes left for us and milk etc was so nice. It made for a great start to a relaxing break. Highly recommend this cottage as a base for a fantastic whitby holiday, a place to look forward returning to after a busy day sightseeing or on the beach. Barney our golden retriever found coolest spot in the house just as you entered in the hallway but had no problem navigating the stairs to come up to the lounge area. Will definitely book again

Parking permit allowed us to park at the door with one exception and we parked for free just round the corner. Fabulous locality. Excellent cleanliness and everything you need provided. Dog friendly too we had a lovely time. Thank You.

Lovely cottage holiday home.

Everything you need for a holiday. Tastefully decorated. Clean and comfortable. Plenty of kitchen appliances. Cottage soon warmed up with the heating . Great location. Great that they excepted a pet. Stairs maybe a little steep for young children or the elderly but was fine for us.

this is the second time we have stayed here but this last time we found the parking very bad as the 2 bays outside the property were full we phoned the owners and were told first there first served and there was a car park round the corner it cost around £9 a day to park there and found this ridiculous after paying for the accommodation and having parking permits loverly cottage but will not book again

The property itself is good and we enjoyed our stay however, car access to the property is very restricted.

We found we could not safely access the property by car. The best thing to do is park on the pay and display car park about 150 metres away and move your luggage manually which we did. This should be noted. The property has no real safe nearby parking. You at at great risk of having your car damaged by other vehicles trying to pass or damaging it yourself trying to park.

The parking was its problem Other than that a brilliant holiday

Restricted parking space

Well-maintained property, clean and comfortable, with everything in excellent working order. It's right in the centre of our favourite part of Whitby, yet tucked away from traffic and crowds. The parking permit was a great bonus. Will definitely come again.

Excellent place to explore Whitby from.

Parking is a nightmare but that is Whitby for you! When I go to whitby I like to park my car, leave it be then explore and get back in the car at the end of the holiday. Pity train fare is not cheaper so car can be left at home.

The advert stated you got a parking permit be which we did, however I assumed parking would be available outside the property.

The advert did say first come first served but this was not explained fully as I had to find a parking space, eventually 10 minutes away. If we were staying as a couple this would have been fine but with a baby and everything you need to bring with you caused us a little stress. In particular, our holiday was cut short, as check out 10am, we had to pick up car while husband stayed with baby and dog, packed the car in order to vacate the property but we had no energy to try find another suitable space so ended up going home! Effectively we lost a day off the end of our holiday. Cottage was lovely, very clean, great location but not really big enough with a baby, pram, cot etc. They did provide cot, highchair and stairgate, for which we were grateful, and also biscuits were a nice touch. I feel parking situation spoilt it for us, Whitby is not great for big cars!

Had a brilliant stay in this lovely cottage.

It is in a great hidden away location but still very close to both the town and beach. It had everything we needed, was very clean and the decor is so lovely and welcoming. We would recommend this as a place to stay for sure and we will be returning.

We returned to enjoy the recent Fish and Ships festival in Whitby and the central location of the accommodation made it an ideal choice for us to experience the hustle and bustle of the harbour and then return to the peace and quiet of the cottage situated in a quiet area. The accommodation itself has everything you need and is clean and comfortable. We travelled by train as we knew that once we were there we didn't need to use the car and parking in Whitby can be difficult. We found the local buses an excellent way to get further afield. We would definitely recommend The Store Rooms and Whitby and hope to return ourselves very soon.

Fabulous cottage in the heart of Whitby!

Clean, cosy and perfect for a weekend away, the milk and biscuits were a nice touch! Even though we didn’t have a dog the treat tin was a lovely thought, we will definitely be returning and maybe with a pooch next time! Loved it!

Nice little Cottage Was fine for couple and pet dog.

Hot water for shower was nt so hot. Very steep stair but ok if you kept hold of banister Parking . No spaces as already taken. Needs a better chart indicator where to get parked. Ended up going to a private park and paid £8 per 24 hours. Very central,so ideal for walking the dog

We reaĺly enjoyed our stay at the Store Rooms.

It is very well located centrally in Whitby. The upstairs living area is very bright and airy and everywhere was very clean. As others have said parking nearby can be tricky but it is usually possible to find an appropriate space not too far away. The washing machine was not working properly during our visit but we are sure this will be sorted out by the owners. XXXXX Owner Response XXXX The owner is glad that you enjoyed your stay and has confirmed that the washing machine would not work due to the previous cycle that had not been allowed to finish completely. Therefore a new programme couldn't be started before the previous cycle was completed.

Despite the hilly nature of Whitby the Store Room is located in a convenient, quiet cul-de-sac and everything the town has to offer is within a reasonably short walking distance.

There are numerous paths and alleyways nearby which lead to all points of the compass and for those visiting Whitby for its famous fish and chips, a takeaway or restaurant is never more than a few minutes away, as are the panoramic views that Whitby offers. The Store Room is very comfortable, well equipped and an ideal base for 2 to 3 people but I can imagine parking may be problematic in high season as there was only ever one space available outside the cottage which required some manoeuvring to get into. An enjoyable stay.

Booked last minute - quite expensive for two nights - no short break offers which was a shame. very convenient for everything. Well equipped. Spotlessly clean. Would recommend.

Cottage was comfortable and well lit.

I particularly liked the velux windows upstairs. Upstairs toilet was an added bonus (not mentioned in the listings). Parking was tricky especially getting out of the narrow road. Bed was a little on the soft side. The reasons I would not rebook the property are that it was a Friday-Friday let which was inconvenient and the parking difficulties. .
