Flamingo Land Resort is a theme park and award-winning zoo all rolled into one, promising an unforgettable experience for the whole family. There’s so much to do, you could be forgiven for coming back and doing it all over again.

The resort was built in 1959, when it was originally known as the Yorkshire Zoological Gardens and then Flamingo Park Zoo. After a while, Flamingo Land transformed into a permanent carnival, adding roller coasters to the site to put North Yorkshire on the thrill seeker’s map. Today, it has the second largest number of roller coasters in the United Kingdom – second only to Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

There’s plenty to see and do at Flamingo Land, from gazing at the animals to jumping on thrill rides and taking part in events.

Flamingo Land Zoo

Your Flamingo Land tickets include entry to the famous zoo, which is home to a huge range of exotic animals. Marvel at African lions, Sumatran tigers, California sea lions and Humboldt penguins. There’s also a large selection of farm animals, including donkeys, Shetland ponies, cows, guinea pigs and West African Pygmy goats.

The zoo includes talks, creature meetings and educational sessions. For an added fee, you can also take part in encounters with meerkats, giraffes, penguins and lemurs.

Flamingo Land Theme Park

Whether you’re in it for speed or comfort, there are all kinds of rides at the Flamingo Land theme park. A huge selection of roller coasters will keep your hair raised throughout the day. Experience rides such as:

  • Sik – new for 2022, this high-octane attraction features 10 loops and twists.
  • Mumbo Jumbo – G-force doesn’t come much better than this 112° vertical drop.
  • Cliff Hanger – one of the tallest vertical drop rides in Europe takes riders on a freefall launch.

Height restrictions apply on each of these rides, so make sure you check before disappointing the little ones!

If you are looking for gentler rides, there’s plenty to do. The Dino Roller is the park’s lowest height restriction coaster, while Little Monsters Wacky Racers puts you in the driving seat. You can even join the resort’s Little Monsters as you roam the Mischief Mansion.

Flamingo Land Events

Each day you and your family can experience the daytime shows, including birds, sea lions and Pirates of Zanzibar. Take the little ones to meet Peter Rabbit for an unforgettable day out.

Flamingo Land also hosts seasonal events, including Halloween and Christmas productions. Visit during the autumn months to see firework displays and spooky Halloween fright nights. You can also get involved in pumpkin picking, rock concerts and fancy-dress competitions.

During the winter, Flamingo Land tickets are a very reasonable £14.50 and up. While the weather may not always be on our side, there’s still access to the resort’s animal parks and restaurants. Plus, at Christmas, take part in Merry Marshmallow Making, meet Santa, and say hello to Thor and Eska in the Reindeer Paddock.
